heartbroken the way the world is going...  After feeling discouraged about it and praying the Lord brought me to Colossians 1...  I was discouraged because I was feeling that the church is not advancing.  I was feeling that the agenda of the ways of the world seems to have a stronger bigger voice.... In many ways it seems like that and it can be very discouraging....until I read this and was reminded that God is still on the Throne.  God's Kingdom is always advancing and constantly bearing fruit, and nothing/no one can stop Him.. Praise Be to God.

3 We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have [d]for all the [e]saints; 5 because of the hope laid up for you in [f]heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, [g]the gospel 6 which has come to you, just as [h]in all the world also it is constantly bearing fruit and [i]increasing, even as it has been doing in you also since the day you heard of it and [j]understood the grace of God in truth; 7 just as you learned it from Epaphras, our beloved fellow bond-servant, who is a faithful servant of Christ on our behalf, 8 and he also informed us of your love in the Spirit.

9 For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the [k]knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, [l]to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and [m]increasing in the [n]knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all power, according to [o]His glorious might, [p]for the attaining of all steadfastness and [q]patience; joyously 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us [r]to share in the inheritance of the [s]saints in Light.

I'm happy to not give my business to starbucks....on and upward...No one will change God's plan or thwart it.

You've got to stand for something or you're likely to fall for anything.

Blessings, Carla

Amen sis!

Our Christian world view goes against the system of the world and we should be ok with that. Let us not exercise tolerance towards evil, but instead, let’s let our light shine in the midst of the war of world views. The Word is our measuring rod. Human thought, logic, likes and dislikes preference etc... is not how we arrive at absolute truth, we already have absolute truth defined for us. God has made it easy.

Man with man, woman with woman in sexual/emotional relationships, made by God to be between husband and wife are sin. They have been sin since God created human kind and nothing has change. God demands from his creature obedience regardless of the circumstances surrounding the creature. Even if one is born with the predisposition for "whatever' sin, God demands that we surrender that aspect of our lives to him, who is able to give us freedom from it. We are all called to be virgins when we get marry. But many of us have failed to do that and those that do not fall into sin have for ages used their surrendering to God's will to achieve sexual purity. So if someone is born with more hormones (not genetically) of the opposite sex they are expected by God to deny that aspect of their lives, of course, seldom is that done, but who-so-ever comes to God with a contrite heart will find rest for their weary soul and freedom from their sin, whatever that sin is.

If you call God your Father, live your time as temporary residents on earth. 1 Peter 1:17?

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transform by the renewing of your mind - Romans 12

Janie - hahaha you know me too well. Hey woman love to talk and this dude can talk, just ask my loving wife, hehe so I am tortured by the fact that I can't joing what should be the chattiest group of them all. :)

David ... I just felt the Spirit ... it amazes me "your testimony"  , you are such a goofy and seemingly caring christian. Your personality sometimes cracks me up you are funny and but sometimes I want to knock you out. But back to the spirit just now.... It amazes me how much God has changed you from a young punk to to you now. It gives hope. I bet you wife wears doubled earplugs.

AMEN- in all respects. :-)

(I'm just gonna Amen a lot of comments in this thread when I agree)

Amanda, Im glad you posted again.  And the link you posted... I am guilty of saying that to my kids in the past. That God hates the sin but not the sinner. I didn't realize it wasn't biblical. The link you posted shows the bible I gave my son for Christmas. I so hope he still has it. I asked him the other day if he still has it. He just through a MOM out there and I shut up about it.

Janie, my belief is that hate isn't the opposite of love. John 3:16 is still very true. But so are the other verses. I'm still learning. So if anyone sees something wrong, please correct me.

Amanda

I wholehearedly agree that hate isn't the opposite of love. I agree with the many that I have heard say that "indifference" is the opposite of love.

While the love of God in us causes us ( or at least it should) to reach out to all hurting people and do whatever God leads us to do to help them in their problem, indifference leads people to simply not care and therefore to do nothing.

God bless

Amen David.
