Like Christ

I think beyond Him being God and ominiscient, there is something about Christ's human nature that allowed Him to sympathize with people. I don't know what it is. perhaps it's the fact that He is perfection. what was it about Christ that allowed Him to sympathize with those in need?

I believe Christ is a very very manly man, I don't suscribe to the "surfer dude" nor the stained-glass-window-teary-eyed idea of Christ. yet there is something about…

for such a time as this

Does anyone else ever question why we live in this time? In all the epochs of time that God has ordained for us to live, why now? I've wondered whether I could live long ago, maybe when Jesus lived and changed the course of history, or when Solomon ruled Israel, or even when America was founded. I honestly don't think so, heck, I can hardly survive without air conditioning.

What does God have in store for this generation of believers, what is our calling in this present darkness? Our…

God knows what we need long before we do

God knows what and who we need long before we ever know that we need what we need. take my husband for instance. i can remember being a teenager and the first boyfriend i ever had. i remember the break up and how hard it was to get over. i remember crying every day and how awful i felt. one night in my misery i called out to God. "please if you love me, send me a man who will love me forever!" years passed and relationships passed. some were good and others not so good. again i called out,… Continue

it makes no sense

He just sat there, all alone

not knowing how to go on,

still asking the question why.

that night, while everyone lay asleep,

he slipped through the window

and ran to freedom.

he knelt by a calm river

only to glance at some weird busted kid.

he soon realized that it was him.

he couldn't let them bust him up

he was going to fight.

as he stood his ground,

a light shone from the heavens

and he knew that he…

I don't understand...

I found out recently that a girl I knew from school committed suicide. I don't know what I'm feeling like right now... anguish, yes... disappointment, yes... helplessness, yes... anger, yes... sorrow, definitely... the worst part was that I had forgotten what she looked like. As I nervously flipped through the pages of the year book, half a dozen ghostly faces flew across the windscreen of my mind's eye. My heart, hoping... praying that none of those conjured apparitions belonged to her... As… Continue

The stars at night

you know what i miss most about living in the mid west? i really miss the stars at night. it's been 3 weeks since we moved to las vegas and i havent seen the stars at all. i guess i need to go out to the desert to see them. there used to be many night that sam and i would sit out on the swing and just look at the stars and wonder what was out there. we would talk about how some day we will get to explore all the sky and stars and have God with us to tell how he made them all.

Times of testing...

It's a good job our God is forgiving. I've made a mess of the last couple of months of my life. I got moved to Atlanta by the company I work for - actually it was a condition of the job. I left behind my friends, family and church... and I lost track of where I should be.

I spent an hour crying my heart out on a rock in early December, because I was upset, and even to an extent ANGRY with God. I definitely felt He'd opened all the doors to get me to this place, and then it felt like… Continue

Listening & Faith on the Amazing Journey

Recently, I have been studying and writing about Jesus and the journey he leads us on. As I go, he is giving me object lessons in my own life.

It's amazing how you can forget the simple things, at times. I find myself in the middle of a project he has assigned to me - writing about how Jesus makes disciples.

I'm at a point where Jesus teaches his followers to Listen attentively to God; and I find myself struggling to be a good listener. So, I had been asking the Lord to show me…

what to do?

well, here i am in las vegas, nv. home of all that is sinful and evil. i was sitting at a stop light today when i saw a lady with a sign that read "share the kindness". i could tell by looking at her that she was not in good shape. her clothers just hung on her and she looked dirty. i really wanted to help her, but a friend of mine told me that when i moved here the thing to be careful of is bums. they are everywhere. and they are. but inside i started to feel this struggle. i know that we are… Continue

wonderfully and fearfully created

I got a cut on my hand the other day, after a few minutes the bleeding stopped and a scab formed. Got me thinking about blood clotting. Did you know that blood clotting is a seven step process, if it misses a step, you would continue bleeding out? I guess my question regarding evolution is; before the seven step process "evolved", how did any living creature, man or animal survive a cut? Just a thought...

Keep a Sharp Sword

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.

— Hebrews 4:12

Temptation is definitely going to come your way and mine. When we know the Word of God, we can deflect the blows that come against us and strike out offensively.

For example, the devil will come to us when we have sinned and say, "You failed. There is no forgiveness for you."

So we pull our sword out of its sheath and say, "It is written…

We are saved by Grace

Romans 4 gives an excellent account of how we are saved. Not by works but by faith and it traces that relationship to Justification back to Abraham.

"Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered;

I have found this passage to have special meaning. We are so loved that we are forgiven in advance for our sins. That in fact is the the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as he took the…

Prayer Works!

Just wanna brag on the Lord a little...my family has been having M*A*J*O*R financial problems since August of this year. My dear husband has been killing himself working for a temp service, crappy jobs, crappy hours, crappy pay. So the other day, I was praying, and I asked God if He could maybe make things just a LITTLE bit better...that same afternoon, my hubby's nephew came by and said they needed to go do my hubby's paperwork because he would be starting his NEW JOB (good job, good… Continue

My God is a cool God and His plans for your life rocks!

Do you believe it? You should because it is true.
