All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Can anyone tell me what authority does the "Body of Christ" have on this earth?

Or should I say "the Church"?

Who is "Christ"?

And who is "The Christ"?

What is a "false Christ"?

How would you recognize a false Christ?

How would you explain Christ to someone that was sincere and searching for the truth?

I read a lot of commentaries, on this subject, but most seems to use more conjecture than facts.

If LT, Carla, Amanda, Tammy are still active, or anyone reading this, would love to hear your response.

You gonna have to give me a few to respond. That's a lot of info.

trying to stir up a little conversations. One at a time will get it started.

I totally understand.

Authority of the Church - We have the authority to be called a child of God. We have the authority to approach His throne of grace w/confidence. We have the authority to teach Scripture & to share the gospel. We have the authority to make disciples & baptize in the Name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. We are given authority to build the believers up, speak, exhort & rebuke.

Who is Christ? - God's Son, I Am, Alpha & Omega, Savior, Messiah, Emmanuel, Lord, Victory, Teacher, Healer, Word, fully God, Creator, Redeemer, Judge, Man, Truth, Author of life, Prince of Peace, Lord of Lords, King of kings, Prophet, One w/the Father.

I'm not really sure what the difference is in your question about Who is Christ & Who is the Christ so you'll have to explain that one to me.

False Christ - Pretends & claims to be the One God sent. Claims they are the right hand of God. Teaches false doctrine.

How to recognize them - They perform great signs & miracles. They claim to be Christ.

I'm sure I'll add to this later but this will jump us off.

Thanks Tammy,

I do a lot of word studies and I find that throughout the bible people will use one word to form an opinion on certain subjects that really is not what the scripture is saying. This is why so many get so confused and say the bible is so hard to understand. The Word of God is a spiritual book, and cannot be understood with the intellect or without the Spirit revealing the meaning. This is why we have so many different denominations. That’s why some preachers and teachers will teach other believers that the gifts are all gone with the last prophet or disciple and therefore causing confusion for those that study the Word of God under the anointing of the Holy Spirit and finding that it’s not consistent throughout the bible. They try to justify their convictions by explaining it away, using conjecture, in other words it has to be like this “because” of their understanding of another scripture to make it fit their belief.

For instance Christ, is not the last name of Jesus I’m sure we all know, Christ is an epithet of Jesus, in other words it is what He was “Christ” anointed,  anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus :- Christ.  The Christ, the anointed of God. Jesus said that He was the Son of man. In Matthew 16:13 (KJV)
13  When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14  And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15  He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16  And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

This is why the Catholics think that Peter was the rock that He was going to build the church on. Obviously they forgot to read Matthew 11:25-27 (KJV)
25  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26  Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27   All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. So the other disciples didn’t know that Jesus was the Christ, but Peter heard from the Father that Jesus was The Christ. And Jesus revealed to Peter that it was the Father that revealed it to him, not another preacher or man. So this is one of the “to me” a misinterpretation of scripture and a doctrine built on it. So Jesus was the son of man, but Jesus “Christ” is the Son of God. We are all Sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-29 (KJV)
26  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Remember the promises were given to Abraham and His seed, He saith not unto seeds as of many, but as of one, and unto thy seed which is Christ In light of the New Creation, which we are if we are baptized into Christ. A Jew that has accepted Christ as His savior, is no longer a Jew, same with a gentile, or for that matter a male or female. Jesus spoke many times from His humanity side, as well from His Deity and that’s how we as New Creatures should be speaking. 1 Peter 4:11-12 (KJV)
11  If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Didn’t mean to write a book.

Lord Bless JB
