All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I like to read all the replies here, they are very insightful and thoughtful.

The reason for this question, is that I've read more than one reply that states that there is nothing left for us to do regarding salvation.  Is this biblical?

Hey Tammy,

Okay....but still.....????

Love You Girl, LOTS!!!!

Love you too girl.

Watchman,

I posted it because Jon's remark was smug and arrogant. Before he judges LT, he first needs to remove the beam from his own eye. Jesus never told the disciples to announce they were shaking the dirt off, but simply to do it. To just not respond further would have been the wiser and more disciplined approach.

I'm sorry but I really don't have time for the article...which is why I don't post much here these days. Hectic times.

Yes we all need to do our best to obey Christ, but obedience is not the topic. Jon is saying baptism + repentance is the only way to salvation and nowhere does Jesus state this. Paul also tells us we're all at different stages of faith and if one won't eat meat while another does, to abstain from eating meat in front of them. Jon is at a different stages of belief and discussing the two beliefs is fine. Being disrespectful to another is not.

Yes obedience to God is absolutely necessary. Jesus made it possible for everyone who believes to be saved, but that didn't mean we can do what we want. We are all in constant battle between the flesh and the spirit, but we have to resist the flesh and encourage the spirit every day of our lives. God" s laws are absolute but at the same time almost absolutely impossible for man to follow. Jesus understood this and that is why all sins can be forgiven through repentance. If we follow the two commandments that Jesus gave us  Love thy God with all your heart, soul and being and Love thy neighbor as thy self all the other commandants will fall into place. This is easier said then done for myself for when I read the Gospels I find that Jesus made it a little more difficult for now we have to fight the flesh (mind). For myself it is a constant battle for I have great anger in me from years of baggage of being hurt by others. I will not give up for there is no one I love more and trust more then the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Read the Word and Trust in the Word

God Bless

A most excellent article.....a little lengthy, but well worth the time to read:

Hey Watchman,

I read the article and see no real divergence from what I have been trying to point out to Jon as seen is this one statement toward the end of the article:

"Have we received a new heart, a good and noble heart, out of which comes forth good things or are we so caught up in the cares, riches and pleasures of life, that the word is choked and brings no fruit to maturity?"

Lord Bless,

LT

Hi LT,

I didn't post the article because I saw any divergence, but because it doesn't put the cart before the horse so to speak.  I think that I understand what everyone here is saying.....just, perhaps, a different way of saying it.  I hope you don't mind, but I have another article from the same website that probably goes even more in depth of what's being discussed here.  Again, it's lengthy, and I'm not trying to avoid explaining on my own, but when just posting little quips or sound bites, I have found that the conversation can get misconstrued and difficult to stay on the same course.  Please know that I find these discussions greatly encouraging and helpful when it comes to study, learning, and prayerfully reasoning together.  So here goes it....it holds the same beliefs that I do:

Watchman,

The divergence comment was an observation and not an accusation.

The article is long, too long for this evening, but I did skim it.

There is one thing that jumps out at me that I will toss out here before I read the article in depth at a later time. It is something we covered when we were doing the live video discussions, you may or may not have been in on that particular session. Salvation is described in Scripture in three tenses  ... past, present and future. These three tenses are recognized as Justification/regeneration ... sanctification ... glorification. There is an act of God that declares us free from the debt of our sin and a work of God that brings new life from a dead soul ... There is the ongoing spiritual growth once we are regenerated and the battle with the flesh in which we reside ... lastly the time where we receive the new body and are fully fitted for eternity in His presence. When we study salvation in Scripture it is important to note the tense that is being displayed and discussed.

Where many miss out is the understanding of what takes place according to Scripture to the individual at the time of justification/regeneration that then opens the door to the call for and ability to pursue holiness that is pleasing and acceptable to God. This pleasing cannot take place before the transformation, but can only flow from that new life. I will not go into the security of the child of God here, but simply point to the fact that works follow transformation and are part of the proof that transformation has actually occurred.

Lord Bless,

LT

Okay, Thank You

Another observation I have by the question is "What is meant by obedience"? Does the question mean perfect or complete obedience, does it mean partial obedience, or does it mean an attempt to obedience? It appears that the question may mean perfect obedience which seems an impossibility to me. I only know one Person that was perfect in obedience and He died for my sins for which I will always be extremely grateful. I think that leaves the rest of us striving for perfect obedience. Jesus was severely beaten and by His stripes we are all made whole. We are made whole. We have been healed. This is an immediate result to our believing that Christ is the Savior come to save us from our sins.

Scripture is not referring to the physical body here but to our souls which were completely separated from God and now brought back into relationship with Him.

Yesterday, I must confess, I lost it. I have found myself in retail sales which has been very time consuming, exhausting and challening. Yesterday, a custome came in to receive his money back. The damand was unreasonable and I became very upset with the customer. I went back into my office to cut a check with the refund. Christ immediately dealt with my heart and reminded me I was still representing Him even though I had changed careers. I immediately repented of my terrible sin and went back onto the showroom floor and apologized to the customer.

Jesus is so good to us. Had He not convicted me so strongly that man would have left and I would have been defeated. Even at an advanced age I still have weaknesses but where I am weak He is so strong. I take no credit. None. He has done it all. Anything good in me comes from Him. He is perfect; I am not. I will need Him as my Savior until I pass from this old earthly body. I cannot go a day without Him. I love Him more now than ever.

Blessings to all my good friends on AAG and please have a merry Christmas. I am so glad He came.

Hey Roy!

I probably WOULD have lost it, then kicked myself later. I'm so far from perfect it's scary. LOL

You have a very merry Christmas too. Not a happy holiday or seasons greeting but a Merry CHRISTmas. Pooh on all those trying to force people into not being allowed to say it. Shame on them too. They're afraid of what they don't even understand. If they did understand they'd embrace it rather than be afraid.
