All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

There is no justification for the heinous act committed in Orlando this weekend as a lone gunman kills 50 people and wounds 50+. Christianity does not advocate violence, Jesus does not call us to do harm to others. There are, and have been, many misguided people who think they are doing acts for their religion (including Christianity). One should never judge a religion by the act of one or a few, but rather on the teachings of its founder. You will not find one command given to the Christian that calls for us to harm anyone. The worst we can find is the dusting off as you leave the home or town, the putting out of the church, the rejection of someone who claims to be a teacher, etc. (withstanding the Book of Revelation which is yet to come)

We must always remember that there is only one judge and His name is Jesus. We, as Christians, have convictions and we must stand for those convictions, but those convictions do not call us, nor should they lead us, to violent acts. God gives everyone a certain  amount of liberty in this life evidenced by the fact that various religions still exist, lifestyles different from Biblical teaching still exist. One day everyone stands before Him and it is for Him to deal accordingly with each of us. Though we are not the judge that does not mean we ignore our convictions or surrender our beliefs, but rather we acknowledge that God has extended liberty to all, liberty is not the same as salvation, but that is another topic.

Why am I writing this? It amazes me that after such a horrific event that is inexcusable I read no less than 6 publications that seek to lay the blame for the Orlando heinous act at the feet of Christians, or so called right wing Christians. That is ridiculous! One person responded to an article by thanking the author for connecting the dots (back to Christianity being at fault). Such are the times where to be a Christian your view is challenged and attacked in an attempt to further sway people against Christianity and it is working.

Do not be discouraged ... the end times are being played out before our very eyes. How far is the end from now? No one knows, but God. What we do know though is that the signs of the season is beginning to rise and shine through.

(Note: I did not pose any qyestions here, but responses are welcomed)

Lord Bless,

Why at our feet? Why not at the feet of Islam? That's a rhetorical question.

It just amazes me ...

Chick Fil A Did WHAT After Gay Club Shooting? Why Isn't This Viral?

Chick Fil A has made national news for it’s owners’ stance on gay marriage. Anytime they do something even remotely non-PC, their supposed slip up goes viral. Hash tags pop up all over the place.

So why is that what they have done in the wake of the Orlando nightclub shooting hasn’t received a single mention on the mainstream new outlets?

It’s probably because people like New York City Mayor, Bill DeBlasio might have to eat crow instead of chicken. DeBlasio has said that Chick Fil A spreads a message of hate.

Not so yesterday. In a shocking move, the Orlando location at University and Rouse Road fired up its grills on Sunday. The chain is notorious for not being open, ever, on the first day of the week. Employees cooked up hundreds of their famous chicken sandwiches. They brewed dozens of gallons of sweet tea.

Then, instead of making a single dime, they crated the product of their labor to the One Blood donation center. The food and drinks were handed out, free of charge, to all the people who had lined up to donate blood.

So far, the only mentions of the incident have been from individuals on Facebook. They have posted photos thanking the restaurant for their thoughtfulness and generosity.

But, wait, those people were waiting to give blood to victims that were mostly gay people. Doesn’t Chick Fil A hate gays? That’s what we keep being told.

Turns out, that while the founders definitely don’t approve of that choice of lifestyle, they believe in compassion. Who knew? A bunch of people claiming to be Christians care about others even when they don’t agree with them. This group took time out of their schedules to volunteer to help those who were also trying to do their part.

On top of that, the franchise’s location on Wells Road in Orange Park is even offering coupons for a free frosted lemonade to anyone who donates blood when the One Blood mobile unit is at there store on June 14.

So much for “Chick Fil hAte” becoming a thing.

This isn't viral for the same reason you stated above. There is no way they are going to accredit any Christian company for having compassion.

This is a time when our obedience to Jesus can be truly tested.

Romans 12

9Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10Love each other with genuine affection,e and take delight in honoring each other. 11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.f 12Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. 13When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality.

14Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. 15Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all!

17Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. 18Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.

19Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,

“I will take revenge;

I will pay them back,”g

says the Lord.

20Instead,

“If your enemies are hungry, feed them.

If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.

In doing this, you will heap

burning coals of shame on their heads.”h

21Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
