All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Millions of Christians read and follow the horoscope, some do it religiously and believe they are accurate and true, for others is entertainment which is not harmful, but a little fun.

What do you think?

Does the bilble touch on this subject?

Are horoscopes harmless fun or is it from Satan himself?

Horoscopes aren't biblical. They are based on the most simplistic form of astrology, the sun signs. There's a difference between astrology and astronomy. A luminous star appeared in the sky at the birth of Christ, and the magi were inspired to follow it to Bethlehem. In Micah 5:2-5 is the prophecy that Messiah would be born in Bethlehem, and Jesus rebuked them in Matthew 16 that people know how to interpret the sky to say a storm is coming but cannot interpret the signs of the time (see verses 1-4). They should have been able to discern the signs of the times as foretold in Scripture. However, there's a difference between fulfillment of holy prophecies that have been marked by an all-knowing God with astronomical signs and seeking to divine unprophesied events in one's own personal future based on astrology.

Thank you Amanda. That was a good answer, which reminded me of this vid. :)

I've never heard this man speaking before but I just listened to the video you posted and I like him. My experience with walking down the pathway of astrology and other unbiblical teachings occurred during a period of rebellion during the 90s. It was my first rebellion as a Christian and first turning away from God. I was very hurt over the loss of an engagement to be married and it was the last straw on top of many other hurtful life experiences that made me accept the fact that my wanting to be loved and cared for was only bringing to me hurt and exploitation from others, and I turned away from God and accepted that I only deserved to be used but not to be loved and cared for. In my turning away, I even began to agree with Karma back then and the law of attraction. In my journal writings from that time period, I wrote things like, "I will change the energy within me from negative to positive through affirmations. Then the things I need will come to me." During that period, I did many "unbiblical" things. I also had my son out of wedlock, and then married my son's dad, even though he wasn't a Christian. In February 2000, my husband received Christ and I turned back to God. In my turning back, I received much enlightenment about astrology and some of the other things that I had been dabbling in, like Feng Shui. I'm very ashamed of it all. How stupid! But I wanted so much to escape the negativity. I was trying to heal myself, I guess. But even as I would fill my journal with those writings of "I am lovable" "I am good" "I will have money" "It's OK to be me" I still, deep down, knew it was all lies because I knew I felt and believed just the opposite about myself. Many might accuse me of showing no signs of mind renewal but my past begs to differ.

I think it's silly personally. I think it's along the line of witchcraft, etc. It's a form of fortune telling & the Bible tells us not to seek them out.

Hey Brother David,

You just pushed one of my buttons - Astrology, Horoscopes = danger, particularly for a Christian.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3, "If a prophet or dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, (2) and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, "Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them", (3) you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out if you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

So beware brothers and sisters.......we're talkin' about the greatest commandment here.

The joy of the Lord is your strength.

I would like to agree that horoscopes lead us  away from God's truth and his word. And That every answer in our lives comes from the Lord. Proverbs 16:1: But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. And that there is not even an ounce of light in them. As the word of God says in Isaiah 8:19-20- And when they say to you, " Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. God bless in Jesus Name

Hi David, God bless you! If you view the symbols as a horoscope, no. But, I have a couple books at home that talk about constellations. What we call the horoscope now was the symbols for the 12 tribes of Israel. It's been so polluted. I have this list. Without looking at the list, I can tell you Judah was the lion and Dan was the scorpion.

Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? (Genesis 49:9)

I think it's okay to think of the symbols as representing each tribe, but they aren't anything that we use to conduct our daily lives by. Sorry bout the grammar.

Love,

Mary

I agree that horoscopes = danger for Christians.

I also agree that astronomy is different from astrology.

Looking to the stars for answers to life's difficulties is idolatry and turns people away from God.

We need to turn to scripture and the leading of the Holy spirit according to the scriptures for our answers.

Blessings, Carla

I get goosebumps when I read these verses. Our God is so wonderful!

(Psalm 19:1-4) The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.

(Job 9:1-9) Then Job answered and said, I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God? If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered? Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger. Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.

(Job 26:7) He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing.

IMO, if you are stuck looking at horoscopes, you will miss the glory of our God.

Love,

Mary

Yes I agree with Amanda the skys and stars are to do with signs of the times, but when one has symbols for the times of the month that's a diff kettle of fish all together,  some say to me oh yes you are a true scorpio  would nt like to get your back up !  but I am a Christian born to show the trates of God so for me to act like a scorpio would not be good for my walk in Christ, also the reading of stars in newspapers is stepping away from God His protection and direction and promise and listening to demons instead, to me they know the day you are going to look at your stars, and boy do they sound good, then you are caught hook line sinker, end up looking and trusting in pipe dreams instead of Gods word, so each day I take out a promise, or read a part of the bible as lead by the Holy Spirit no other dude is required and don't forget with the Holy Spirit you don't need another teacher.
