All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When going to the eye doctor, he told me I had astigmatism that effects my eyesight. He told me that, that was the reason for my headaches. I asked him exactly what that meant, and he replied with "you see everything distorted, but because that's all you've ever known, it is normal for you to see this way."  He went on to tell me I have cat like eyes (funny thing is, they are very green w/yellow) and if I didn't wear glasses it could get worse.

Right then and there,  I finally had the perfect title for my book.  "Distorted"

See for me, I have noticed that when I see something that should be a normal occurrence, it can look much different to me. For example, there can be something I see, hear, smell ect, and to me it has a negative past experience attached to it, but to someone else it is just normal. Even a kind gesture has sometimes led me to believe that the person has a motive behind it.  I do not ask people for help because I have had to do things myself.  People say its being proud, but I say "no, its being prepared." I also have never liked surprises because I feel if I know whats going on I have control. Some people say I am controlling, but I say "no, I'm being prepared."

I say all this to say...everyday I am reminded of my past. Everyday something triggers a negative thought or feeling I am  not able to shake.

So I am saying,  I am so very tired of it! I have decided that I am letting go of more of the "I's" and replacing them for more "you's"

So....What do you all do to stop this? If you can't, is it something that will prevent me from going to heaven?

There...I asked for help from you:)

Feet, do you really want your faith to become alive once again?

Then read Jude 1:20, and act on it; and it will happen. But without it being mixed with faith; then nothing will happen.

Joe

what does it mean to "pray in the Holy Spirit"?

Jenny;

What does it mean to "pray in the Holy Spirit"?

I know some do not see this praying in the Spirit as praying or speaking in tongues and I am not saying you have to speak in tongues to be praying in the Spirit, nor am I saying that you have to speak in tongues to be baptized in the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Spirit can be interpreted a couple of ways, 1. You can be full of the Word, ”the Word is Spirit” when a situation presents itself to a believer, the first thing he thinks about is the Word, what does the Word say about this situation?   2. Can be an over flowing of Grace; in other words, a strong influence on your heart or spirit that leads you in the way you should go, or what to pray for; as in Rom.8:26, one of the infirmities we have is not knowing what to pray for; “as we ought”, so praying in the Spirit, God can reveal to our spirits what to pray for, then we can make intercession for our friends according to the will of God. If you will notice in 1Cor.14:2-4, For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not unto man, but unto God; for no man understands him; howbeit in the Spirit he speaks mysteries….. He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself….as in Jude 1:20…building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. This is edifying yourself. And then in 1Cor.14:12-14, Let him that speaks in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret, for if you are praying in tongues, your spirit is praying, but your understanding is unfruitful, but revelation will usually come. And all of this; “even praying in tongues” is done in and by faith.

I think there has been a lot of discussion on this subject before, so I don’t feel this is shedding any more light on it than has already been discussed.

May the Holy Spirit saturate your hearts and minds with His love and Grace; as you seek truth in His Word.

thanks for your response, Joe. that clarified things for me

What do you feel is lacking with your relationship with God that makes you feel you have a dry faith?
Many times we talk at God not to him. Are you really listening for the answers you need or the answers you want. We have to each come to the place in our lives where we realize we are being prepared for God's plan for us. God's promise is joy and peace in your heart. You have to open yourself up to what is offered. The Lord never forces you to take his blessings but is always willing to give it when you are ready to receive.
We may not always understand but never be afraid to ask for discernment about why you feel like you do. Listen for the answers, they will come, like anything worth having it is worth waiting for

Joe,the Holy Spirit is helping me. He's using scripture a little bit at a time.

The Holy Spirit has brought it to my attention on a couple of occasions who I had to pray for immeditly. Is that what that scripture means? If so He's done that with me a couple times.

feetbreeze,
The most prolific scripture in understanding what God wants for us is the following
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; (Ephesians 2:8-15 KJV)

The Story: This is what I have called my past. Since I can do nothing to change the past I looked at it like a sad movie. I sat down and wrote out my story as best as I could. I must say that I did a lot of crying during this. All the people all the places and events that have made up my past. Then, I wrote it all out again. Then I read it aloud to myself with all the feelings and emotions that came with this best seller. I did this over and over again until finally the story just started to feel just like a story and nothing else. Not fake or anything just something that was done and overwith.

I began seeking answers by turning to God. Since I knew about forgiveness but not really how it related to me. At the time I did not have a personal realtionship with God and Jesus. When I began to seek God's lessons and plans in his word for us he helped me come to terms with forgiveness and love. He helped me see how the past played a role in not allowing me to flourish as he created me to flourish.

To become and professional at anything takes practice. To become a follower of Jesus takes practice too. Each day is a choice to follow him. This is what worked for me.

Journeymanhd,

Thanks for your response.
