All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Hello,

One of the first things the Lord put on my heart after becoming a Christian about 2 years ago was: get rid of everything in our home that is dishonouring to the Lord.

There were many things we got rid of. But for some reason my husband didn't want to part with his Stephen King books and a book called Urantia (this book claims to be the next instalment of the Bible, and claims that Jesus was one of many "gods", and I believe is satan's next big attempt at false religion).

I have cleansed our home of everything I could find that is dishonoring to God, but these books remain, and I cringe to know they're still here.

My question is, is it ok to get rid of these books "quietly"? I doubt my husband would notice they are gone, but don't know if it would be stealing to get rid of them without his knowing. I don't want to have him feel disrespected, but also the Lord made it fairly clear that He wants these things gone.

What should I do?

Thank you,

Jenny

may i ask, are your parents JW?

Mom doesn't want me to throw away the Pokemon...I said I wouldn't. Than if I did I'd be a liar and disobediant to mom...

My dad is Catholic although he never goes to church. My mom has some JW beliefs but isn't baptized into that faith. Besides, if I threw away the watchtowers, I'm risking getting caught and the JW will just bring some more here anyway...

Seeking, i know what you say is right.  thats something i kind of forgot- that there are the things that belong to my husband and that is between him and the Lord. i will continue to pray for him

Very well said, Char.

Blessings...

Rita

Nicely put Char

thanks for your reply, unfortunately there's a lot of resistance on the part of my husband,

Oddly, the very day I posted this discussion, my husband asked me if I have seen his Urantia book. We've just moved so our books are still in boxes. I said, "no i haven't. why are you looking for it?" (he hasn't picked up this book in nearly a year so its strange he would want it at this time). He said "because it has good history in it".

I said, "you know the bible says to not heed any teachings that add or take away from the gospel. how do you feel about this book and how its teachings are so clearly anti-biblical?"

He said, "there may be some bad stuff in here but theres lots and lots of good stuff."

I just tried to keep my cool, but this has been an area of heated discussion for us in the past, so I dropped the subject and we went to bed.

I know we have had demonic activity in our marriage over the past 2 years. The demons are trying very hard to break us up.

Just yesterday when my husband picked me up there was yet another copy of Urantia on the backseat.

Please pray for my husband. He's a bit stubborn, and I think part of the reason he wants to keep them is that I say they are demonic. Also, he's very much into watching videos on Youtube about the Illuminati, secret societies, sacred geometry etc. and these have made him more casual about what he allows in his life and our home.

are you still a paranormal investigator? if so, how does that relate to your life as a Christian?

So Jenny, according to marco, don't bury it on your land but bury it on the land of your enemy. LOLOL

Jenny,

Those books are nothing. They will not harm you in any way. There are no satanic or majical powers that are going to overcome you or cause you to be sick or depressed. Do not take these kind of thoughts into your spirit. If your husband does not want you to get rid of them, I would not worry about them. God is more than able to take care of you, your children, even your husband as He moves on him to become what He intends for him. You have appealed to your husband that the books are bothersome to you. If your husband said that God would show him if the books are bad, I would accept that. That is a much better way to go. God will show him unless you get in the way. Trust in the Lord. The books are not magical. Whatever you do, don't have a burial service for them. Your husband will think that you really have gone off the deep end. Be kind, loving, cook good suppers, take care of his needs - he will be willing to get rid of those books in short time.

thanks Roy

And no seances are necessary, or waving a little smoking broom around them --- OK, I've got silly now. I'm like Roy, it's just a book, and at the moment you are being obedient to what the Lord has called you to do, being submissive to your hubby.

What others see in your home are a direct reflection on you and the way you believe...the things you partake of. If a person see beer cans...you are thought to be a drinker. If a person sees a ouija board...you believe in the occult. Others have a tendency to  believe what they see. I believe the idea is not to allow others to be misled by what they see in your possession. If your husband has items that you want out of the house, you are better off putting them out of sight. In that way he has access to them but they are out of the vision of anyone else seeing them.

This method might sound wrong, but...parents and spouses have the right to believe what they want, read what they want, etc. Removal of such ungodly items won't necessarily change them from their way of thinking, but it will make them angry.

I have statues of Christ in my home. They are lined up on a shelf  depicting Christ carrying the cross, the Crucifixion, the resurrection, and the Forgiven statue depicting Christ holding the man with the hammer and the nails. For everyone who sees them they are a reminder of the price that Christ paid for us. They are there to be a constant reminder to all who notice them, not as objects to be worshiped.

Blessings....

Rita
