All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Hello,

One of the first things the Lord put on my heart after becoming a Christian about 2 years ago was: get rid of everything in our home that is dishonouring to the Lord.

There were many things we got rid of. But for some reason my husband didn't want to part with his Stephen King books and a book called Urantia (this book claims to be the next instalment of the Bible, and claims that Jesus was one of many "gods", and I believe is satan's next big attempt at false religion).

I have cleansed our home of everything I could find that is dishonoring to God, but these books remain, and I cringe to know they're still here.

My question is, is it ok to get rid of these books "quietly"? I doubt my husband would notice they are gone, but don't know if it would be stealing to get rid of them without his knowing. I don't want to have him feel disrespected, but also the Lord made it fairly clear that He wants these things gone.

What should I do?

Thank you,

Jenny

Amen Tammy!

thanks, this offer of prayer means a lot. i know the Lord will bless it. what a blessing to have brothers and sisters in the Lord!

Wait a minute. Does a person have to get rid of everything? What if that isn't possible?

Example?

Ok, I'm not allowed to throw away my old Pokemon stuff for ex. (there's other stuff that's just a big part of it). If it's found in the garbadge it'll just be taken back out...and if that's found out I threw Pokemon stuff away than it may come out in the open stuff I've thrown away in the past...

I threw out alot of stuff...it was God and me who knew about it...I tried to keep the secrets hidden.

by 'not aloud' i'm guessing its your parents who have made this a rule(?). all i would offer is that you should follow your parents rules while living with them but when you have your own family you can decide which things to keep in the home. now if your spouse doesn't agree...? that's where i'm at a loss for

Marco,

I am just curious. Are you serious about not burning these or destroying these books? What would be your Biblical reference for this?

Do you really believe everything you're saying here. In the Bible, I don't recall one situation where any steps was taken like the one you mentioned here to rid yourself of demons. I don't believe demons can possess an inanimate object. This is just way to strange for me. Bury it & not burn it because the demons will escape? The fedora hat situation really gave me a good laugh. Is the grass still living that the hat was buried under?  Brother you've been reading way too many Harry Potter books & watching Merlin one time too many.

"Go columbine"??? This is sterotyping. Like "Go postal."

Objects don't have powers. The power lies in the fear that people have of them. Fear can be a form of awe as in worship. I am sure satan is laughing and having a big ole time while watching humans burying objects thinking the objects are possessed and trembling with fear--to think that he has that much power over humans, and I guess he does over unbelievers. There are certain objects that are used in satanic rituals and so forth that may invite demonic spirits into one's home or life--especially if you are using those objects to worship and honor satan or other false gods. If you have a statue of buddha in your garden, then maybe you don't really reject the buddhist religion and do not truly know Jesus as Savior. Satan may have a foothold in such a case.

God is going to cast the whole kit and kaboodle of fallen angels into a lake of fire ultimately. I think that will take care of the problem. Trust me, they won't be escaping the fire.

God is going to burn all of the idols of earth.

But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. ( 2 Peter 3:10).

It sounds to me like the woman with the fedora was having an anxiety attack.

for me, i feel a conviction to get rid of everything in my home that has evil/satanic origins. before becoming a Christian i was very into the New Age. So i got rid of everything from that time including charms, artwork, statues, books, and music that i accumulated during my time of New Age beliefs and practices. Some might say i went overboard but i really felt i had to distance myself from my old life and purge those things from our home

The only reason choose not to keep these objects is the memories attached to it. They're not going to up & fly & curse you & everyone you touch. You clean your house because you only want purity in your home & have a safe haven for your children. I don't think you went overboard. I think you was doing what you felt led to do.

It also has to do with the JW...I threw out alot of their literature and magazines...they'd really think I was persecuting them if they ever found out...that'd lead into trouble.

I threw away other things that I've only let....God is the only one who knows...that and if there was any angels there those days...
