Are there things I do that silence God's presence?

ARE THERE THINGS YOU DO THAT SILENCE GOD’S PRESENCE?

Jesus Christ, our Immanuel, God with us. . .

Yesterday, I discussed how to feel God’s presence in and around you, but today I ask the question: Are there things I do, or might do, that would silence his presence?

I think so. . . while he will not go away necessarily, your ability to feel him will be dimmed. So, what can you do?

Refrain from activities that would “grieve” Him~

The Storms - God's Purpose

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Romans 8:28-29

Believers have a choice about how they will respond to life’s tempests. Either they can cast blame while becoming resentful and bitter, or they can turn to the Lord and ask,“What is Your… Continue

Are you seeking the gifts or the Giver?

Sometimes we get so caught up in seeking God's presents that we forget all about His presence! God wants every believer to remain in His presence and have a personal relationship with Him just like you would with any other friend.

King…

How do you feel God's presence?

HOW DO YOU FEEL GOD’S PRESENCE? At Christmas time, or any time!

“The Lord himself will give you a sign:

The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son,

and will call him Immanuel,”

spoken by Isaiah some 700 years before the birth of Christ. Isn’t that amazing?

Matthew’s account of the birth of Jesus Christ includes the angel’s announcement to Joseph that his betrothed, Mary, was to bear a son. This was a fulfillment of the above… Continue

The old familiar story - Luke 2

Good Morning, dear ones~

The day we celebrate our Lord's birth draws nigh . . .

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a simple peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never had a family. He never owned a home. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born, and where he did go he usually… Continue

Building Healthy Relationships

Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. I Samuel 18:1-4

The Measure of Love

People all over the world struggle to understand love. Christians struggle with their understanding of love too. Currently, the statistics for divorce are actually greater (higher) for those who claim to be Christians now, than for those who do not. Divorce is not the only statistic that suggests people struggle with this issue either. I meet and talk with many people that do not believe they are loved or can have love. Some feel they move in and out of it at times… Continue

You're All That I Long

This time with You Father, is all that I long.

sometimes loving others, things seem to go wrong.

But when I am with You, You show me the way,

You give me the strength to go one more day.

These moments with You restore me with Your genuine love,

and again I am able to accept those whom yell, push, and shove. …

Cognitive Dissonance

COGNITIVE DISSONANCE

Sometimes as I am simply ‘doing life,’ I am aware of a dissonance, though not fully cognizant of just what I am seeing, until I mentally unpack it at a later time. Permit me to do that just now. . .

The first visual struck me late on a Thursday night, as my husband and I quickly strode past Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church in Manhattan. Within just a few feet on our left was the beautiful, historic church . . . her steps filled with homeless people, trying… Continue

Through Dark Valleys

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

At the age of 17, Joseph lost almost everything. His family, his position as the favored son, his home, and his freedom were abruptly taken from him. How stunned he must have been by… Continue

Blessed are the Merciful

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy— Matthew 5: 7.

All do not know it, but it is a fact that the grandest quality that man can exercise, and the one which brings the largest amount of blessing itself, is the exercise of the Godlike quality of mercy, compassion, benevolence. Jesus lays great stress upon this quality of mercy, declaring that whatever else may be our attainments of knowledge or of grace, if we have not this one we can never be acceptable to Him — if we… Continue

SHARING,,,,,WHAT DO FRENCH HENS HAVE TO DO WITH CHRISTMAS...........

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

This week, I found out.

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden… Continue

Sacrifice

Love I've learned comes with a price,

a life of nothing less than sacrifice.

So much I thought I'd have by now,

I've given to those in need somehow.

For to hold on to something someone needs,

this selflessness inside exceeds.

To God, my children, family, and friends, do I give, …
