My story with God
I started in Revelation at age 14 and read each book in the New Testament, ending with Matthew. I started reading in Isaiah at age 40 and read forward, then started again in Genesis and read until I got back to Isaiah. I have had almost the entire Bible (Authorized Translation of 1611, a.k.a. King James) read aloud in my ears and have read the entire Bible. Yes, I slogged my way through Leviticus and Numbers too, with somebody reading it to me aloud. Somewhere along the way, or maybe it was after becoming familiar with much of the Bible, I realized that God does not experience time as a linear progression. Then it all made sense to me and I don't have trouble understanding it anymore. I take the Bible literally where it is meant literally and I take it figuratively or spiritually where it is meant figuratively or spiritually. I tend to compare what I and other people say and do with the teachings of Jesus. He said, "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" in Luke Chapter 6, Verse 46. That pretty much says it all.
Other stuff about me:
I am in a heterosexual, married, monogamous relationship which will end when one of us passes on into the next plain of existence. My husband pretty much has the final say in things because somebody has to have it, and as the Bible states he is the head and not I, he gets the final say. I am a Friend by Convincement (we used to be, and sometimes still are, called Quakers). I cover my head when I think about God, which is a lot of the time. When it comes to prayer and worship, I wait for the Holy Spirit. I accept the absolute sovereignty of God. Before He formed me in the womb, He knew me. I picked from the drop-down list "I know He has rescued me and I've given Him control of my life," but He controls everything and control of my life was not mine to begin with. I like music, but not contemporary christian rock. I'm conservative and old-fashioned so I am not on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social networking sites; I don't have a smartphone, instant messaging, or text messaging. I don't generally respond to people's personal e-mail addresses if they contact me through any group and if I receive any messages that make me uncomfortable I just delete them as advised by my husband. I hope no one takes it personally.
