All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

How do you think Jesus would start a church in your city or town?

The first thing Christ would do is go on a weeping tour throughout your area. Scripture tells us, “When he was come near, he beheld [Jerusalem], and wept over it, saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! But now they are hid from thine eyes” (Luke 19:41-42).

What made Jesus weep? It began with a heartbreaking walk He took around the city. He was overcome with grief at the sight of so-called religious people who had no peace. These people had rejected the truth for fables and now they were following a dead form of religion. They were sheep without true shepherds.

Now, I’m not out to judge any minister. But I want to ask everyone reading this message: Can you imagine your pastor driving through your town and weeping over it? What a different image Jesus gives us from so many of the plotters and planners building churches today. These men go door to door, surveying people, asking what they want in a church: “How long would you like the sermon to be? Fifteen minutes? Ten?”

Jesus witnessed a form of this in His own day. As He walked through the temple, He saw tables of moneychangers, ministers who merchandised the things of God. There was no real prayer, no fear of the Lord. And Christ wept over it all, crying, “It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves” (Luke 19:46).

I ask you: Would Jesus weep over what He sees in your church today? Would He find your pastor anguishing over lost souls? Would Christ find His people praying or would He find them occupied by busyness and programs, focusing on their own interests?

Once Jesus concludes His weeping tour of your city, would He commend His people? Or would He bring this warning: “You’re blind to the times. Judgment is at the door, but you look more like the world than ever. Why aren’t you praying, seeking Me for strength and wisdom to redeem the time?”

I believe that Jesus would first go through the city looking for His true servants.  Such as those who worship Him in spirit and in truth.      He gives us a good description of those He would seek in                                                                                      Jer. 9:23   :    " Thus saith the Lord

Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,

Let not the mighty man glory in His might,

                            Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

But let him who glories glory in this,

THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS ME,

THAT I AM THE LORD, EXCERCISING LOVINGKINDNESS, JUDGEMENT AND RIGHTEOUSNESS

in the earth, for in these I delight," saith the Lord.

Then  when He has found them He will begin to work through them to do His work and will.

               Just my opinion, God bless

Amen Charles

I believe He would say ... "Follow me."

Amen

I wonder if Jesus would even enter a church, just walk by, is the church worshiping the same Jesus or themselves and their own way of doing things, ? would we know Him or turn Him away thinking Him a mad man. I hope the Jesus I am following is the real one.

I'm sure he would look at the signs where it said "Church" - a lot of them, walk inside look around, walk back outside & look at the sign again & make sure He seen it correctly & walk away with a palm to His forehead shaking His head.

That was a 'cute' statement. Those who know me would have got it. Doesn't offend me whatsoever. You just didn't catch the humor which is all good.

well it does not say that the Samaritan was a rich fella, or the woman at the well, and all the followers of Jesus were to share all they had. and then theres the little guy with 5 loaves and 2 fish, and well Im sure even in the stable or cave it was given to Jesus to birth in. so alot of poor had alot to do with Jesus. and also I must share the fact that in the world there is alot of hate toward dissabled and poor folk they are looked down on by many folks and thats not what the church should do, also they should not take what little the poor have in tithes and then tell them to go and find a job and that they are lazy and have no faith cause they are in that state. In fact its greed of the rich that steals from the poor their jobs their homes, home that had the toilet outside, yes rich are buying them living in them doing them up, massive rent they expect from folks who dont even afford the money. and park their cars outside to show em off. The houses for the poor should have remain for the poor now they have nowhere to live, and not enougth houses are being built, Im sure Jesus would be a Rebel with a cause when it comes to defending the poor. dont forget He did not have a good word to say to the Jews when He went to the worship places, and we know correction has to start in our own house before we can correct others.

" I know of some churches where the poor and needy are said to be welcomed but there is little or no evidence of that ."

I can't help but think of Matthew 5--

The NASB is my favourite translation, but I love the way the NLT says this verse, especially verse 3.

"One day as he saw the crowds gathering, Jesus went up on the mountainside and sat down. His disciples gathered around him, and he began to teach them.

The Beatitudes

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,[a]
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,[b]
    for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
    for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs."

I'm also thinking of Acts 3.

Healing the Lame Beggar

"    1Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the ninth hour, the hour of prayer. 2And a man who had been lame from his mother’s womb was being carried along, whom they used to set down every day at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, in order to beg alms of those who were entering the temple. 3When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he began asking to receive alms. 4But Peter, along with John, fixed his gaze on him and said, “Look at us!” 5And he began to give them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene—walk!” 7And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened. 8With a leap he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9And all the people saw him walking and praising God; 10and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him." (emphasis mine).

I do understand what you're saying though.

Galatians 2;10; Matthew 19:21

But then there's also James 2:5

"Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?"

I'm learning that there's something for each of us to learn, and each of us has something to contribute..  Those who are rich by worldly standards have much to learn from those who are poor by worldly standards.  Those who are poor by worldly standards, have much to learn from those who are rich by worldly standards.  We simply need to learn from each other.  We all have something to learn and something to teach, and something to give.  That's one of the functions of the church, and then to live it out.  It seems that there is a mentality (not saying you-but in general), that people lacking in money have only needs from the church, but nothing to offer..  That's not true.  Everyone has something to offer for the benefit of the body of Christ.  Each person has purpose and infinite value In Christ.

Blessings, Carla

Your right there Carla that each of us have somut to offer and share, but your going above you station in some gatherings and they dont like folks who are Spirit Filled distrupting their way of doing things, and tell them to button it or get out. or what authority do you have to say what you  have said, and to answer the Father in me is my authority. well that puts the cat right amoungst the pigeons.
