Abortion is real bad...but so is vasectomy.
I believe I mentioned in a past post that I had consented to have a vasectomy performed. My 1st wife had brought it up that she really didnt want any more children and she had some complications so I went along with it but....the moment the Vas was severed I felt God's Holy Spirit withdraw from me, The same anguish a young lady feels when she has made a choice to abort,and the attendants dont let the patient see the monitor.....I can never get back what was taken from me.We were made to go fourth and multiply...God didnt say we have too many people on the planet,.....I have by bad choice become Unic...unable to produce sperm therefore can not pro create...this is more serious than the other sins, because it deals with life,and procreation.....sex is good.....I mean real good , but God ment that for a husband and wife to enjoy ,but if you can not contain yourself its better to marry than to burn....What I did through ignorance of the truth, and informed choices I still made the wrong choice and am paying for it.....God has forgiven me but He has not given back to me what he Took........I pray everyday that all will be forever fixed, by his hand.....things I did as being stupid I hope doesnt ruin my life,like focusing on this subject....He took it from me......I felt it leave me, that glory cloud thats what it was like a glory cloud...and because I harkened to the voice of my wife in this thing it was taken from me.....It hasnt came back either.

With all due respect - In my biblical opinion there is a humongous difference from an abortion to a vasectomy. I mean huge. One is the killing of the unborn the other is the killing of the ability to have kids.
I don't think is wise to generalize a personal choice and experience.

You think God has withdrawn his glory and spirit from you because of one thing you did? You don't see him with your arms around you loving you? I doubt God has withdrawn anything (There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus; Romans 8:1) You can't change the past, you can't earn favour through works, and God doesn't abandon people.

Genesis 38:8-10 Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also.
People have used this verse many times to speak against masturbation. We can use scripture to our desire any way we want. However, there is a thing about using it for what we want from it, and using it in context of what is going on, of the times, of the message God is imparting.
In this verse, we see there was a duty to fulfill and Onan agreed to fulfill it by sleeping with his dead brother's wife, to carry on the family name. By spilling his seed, he was acting wickedly, looking out for himself. It has nothing to do with masturbation AND nothing to do with not wanting kids.
In context, God ALSO says to use wisdom. Is it wise to have kids we can't afford? He also says to provide for our families. Can we provide if we have kids we can't provide for? God also does not want us taking on more than we're ready for. Some people have too much on their plates as it is, that taking on kids is NOT wise nor advisable.
So where is the sin? Having a vasectomy to remain able to provide for your family, remain able to not take on more than you can handle, and remain able to stay out of debt isn't a sin that I can see.

You have gotten some great feedback here... I agree with them. They are two different things.
Besides, a Vasectomy is reversible due to advances in microsurgery.
Rest in God's Grace and Forgiveness... The same Grace and Forgiveness is there for a repentant women who has an abortion.. But again, I emphasize they are two completely different things.

There is a vast difference from having an abortion and having a vasectomy. However, I think I am understanding where you are coming from. You are feeling that perhaps that wasn't your choice to make. Vasectomy is just another form of birth control although it is more of a permanent choice. I personally have mixed feelings on this issue as well. I wonder sometimes if we should take that decision into our own hands. You have brought up a very good point. I know you to be a man that is very close to God but one that struggles from time to time with feelings that all of us have and none of us want.
One thing I have noticed in Scripture is God's ability to take our evil actions and make good come out of them. When I read Joseph's words saying to his brothers that they didn't do that to them but that God did it for His own purpose, I realize that God can take man's evil actions and use them for His own will and purpose. When one reads that passage it is almost as if God sold Joseph into slavery Himself. It was Moses' murder that caused him to flee to Midian where God's will for Moses was accomplished. What about Gideon, Samson, David and so many others? God knows each of us through and through. He knows the very motives of all our actions. Yet, He still loves us and uses us for His own will and purpose. I hear Joseph ( a type of our Savior) saying to his brothers, "That wasn't you, that was God."
I can sense you beating up on yourself over this decision. I am quite sure that His Spirit is not removed from you. I read His Spirit working through you in your prayers almost everyday. There are days I am very thankful for God's Spirit within you. I can tell you that God has used this experience for His will and purpose. You spend more time in prayer than most of every one of God's people. You spend more time with God than most. You are full of God's Spirit. I know you are not faking that. His Spirit is too evident within you.
We are all sinners saved by God's great grace. Your sin is no worse than any of the rest of us. You are a man of God filled with God's Spirit. Sin can in no wise separate you from God's Spirit or His love. If it could, we would have all lost His Spirit. You are just one of a great multitude of people that enjoy God's wonderful power and love in that He removes all those sins from us. We are made perfect, righteous and holy. That is what you are. God is very obviously using your weakness to bless His family.
Yes, you are weak but He is strong. He is everything you are not and He freely gives that to you. He is in no way withdrawn from you. I can see His Spirit all over you on a daily basis. You are part of His great plan and He is using your weakness to perform His will within you and within His family. He does not love you one ounce less because of your actions. He will never withdraw Himself from you. He is with you to the very day He takes you to your permanent residence with Him. That is His promise and that is what He will do. You couldn't get away from Him even if you tried. His love is just too great. His power is too great and His plan and purpose will be fulfilled in your life. You are His property. You belong to Him and there isn't a thing in this world that you can do to change that. You love God very much. You hate your own weaknesses. I am telling you to embrace them as through them God will bless His entire family. We all hate our weaknesses but must realize that through them, God's glory is revealed even greater.
He is a masterful Designer. He made us the way we are. He knows what He is doing and He very definitely knew what He was doing when He made you. You are part of His plan. Enjoy your life in Him. Be grateful to Him for your life. Give Him all the praise and glory. Don't reserve an ounce of it for yourself. Here you are but you are saved by the Master Designer Himself. What a deal He has made with us. What love. What grace. Here we are. We are all saved by His grace and will all fulfill His will and purpose. I doubt if you have ever murdered someone to cover up your own sin and weakness but even if you had, you would be in good company. God reveals His grace and love through those precious stories. I love my God and I love you as well.

Abraham was as good as dead and still managed to have kids. I don't see that a vasectomy can trump God's will if it's His will you have kids. ;-)
