I LOVE THE WOODS AND NATURE, IT BRINGS ONE CLOSER TO THE LORD. IT'S HAVING A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN ON EARTH. I USED TO RAISE EXOTIC BIRDS. HOW AMAZING AND AWSOME OUR GOD IS. LADY GOULDIAN FINCHES ARE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE. THE LORD THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. WHEN THE BABIES ARE BORN, THEIR HEADS ARE NO BIGGER THAN AN ERACER ON A PENCIL. THEY MUST BE FED AROUND THE CLOCK. TO ENABLE MOM, THEY HAVE LITTLE SPOTS THAT GLOW IN THE DARK WHEN THEY OPEN THEIR MOUTHS SO THAT MOM CAN SEE WHERE TO FEED THEM. (I CALL THEM LITTLE SPOT LIGHTS) THE LITTLE LEGS AND FEET ARE JUST SO TINY AND PERFECTLY FORMED. HOW CREATIVE GOD IS, HE THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. I'VE DONE SOME WILDLIFE REHABILITATION ALSO. I FIND THAT OPOSSUMS ARE INCREDITABLE CREATURES. THEY ARE MARSUPIALS, WHEN BORN THEY AKE THEIR WAY TO MOTHERS POUCH AND ATTACH TO A TEET AND GROW. WHEN THEY ARE BORN THEY ARE SO TINY YOU CAN FIT 75 IN A TEASPOON. MAMA IS SO PATIENT,CAN YOU IMAGINE GOING GROCERY SHOPPING WITH ABOUT 8 OR SO BABIES HANGING OFF OF YOU!!! THEY STAY WITH THEIR MOM ABOUT 4 MONTHS, BEFORE STARTING OUT ON THEIR ON. JUST ONE OF OUR LORD'S MANY WONDERFUL CREATIONS. GOD HAS BLESSED ME SO TO BE ABLE TO CARE FOR ORPHANED OPOSSUMS, A BABY RACOON, DIFFERENT BIRDS, RABBITS, GOATS, TOO MANY TO SAY. I'VE LEARNED SO MUCH AND THE EXPERIENCES HAVE BEEN INCREDITABLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THE HABITATS ARE BEING DESTROYED. I PRAY THAT PEOPLE WILL BECOME MORE EDUCATED ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF NATURE, ALL THE BLESSINGS OUR LORD HAS CREATED FOR OUR ENJOYMENT. WE  MUST WORK TO PROTECT IT SO THAT OUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MARVEL AT OUR GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER'S HANDY WORK. THANK YOU JESUS FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE CREATED. MAY WE ALL RESPECT AND PROTECT ALL THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US. AND THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL, IS BEING ABLE TO SEE YOUR BEAUTIFUL REFLECTION IN IT ALL. THANK FATHER, THANK YOU.

August 14th I sold the homestead to a nice couple from India, they take possession Sept 1st. Had five different buyers but sold it to 3rd highest offer since they both start teaching at Ohio University: she is a botanist and he is a geneticist so it was a perfect match and insures the woods will be taken care of.  They also bought all the furnishings and appliances intact and will convert 2nd floor art studio to bedrooms (a 12 year old girl and 8 year old boy) and half will be a large study & lab.  Back to small apartment life until I start my expedition next summer. Will add a selection of the herbs from the woods then reorganize a bit to prepare for new material.

Lena J: just add next photo in a sequence as a "reply"; problem is as group "owner", I can't remove the old discussions, either you or an admin will have to do that. If you have more photos, try to add them this week or weekend; I want to add a reply about the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem in 70 AD and the final conquest of Judea in 73 AD that lead to the Jewish diaspora or exile across the world.

Dear Ricprimus,

Thanks heaps! You've done an excellent job grouping my Holy Land photos together. I didn't know how to do that. Hence only five posts. Thanks again. They look much better all together. :)

Hugs!

Anyway, you were very blessed in seeing your eagle! I still get excited when I catch a glimpse, they've started hunting fish from the pond since the fish are almost young adult size now. Of course, the ducks and pond birds have discovered to keep an eye out now that they don't become dinner.

Because of Florida & Caribbean trip we missed a month watching nest progress, including first flying lessons. Here #1 Eaglet is sitting in a tree near the pond, probably catching frogs or small fish. Just before adulthood, 2 years or so, the head feathers turn white. I hope to get more photos this year, the nest has been worked on and now about 6 feet wide and deep. So can't tell yet if there are a new batch of eaglets. Junior chased bats out of a small cave up on the rock ledge by waterfall and lives apart from mom and dad.

Well, our next visit to the next was April 25, and the woods had gained 2 new hungry residents. Poor dad, he was about always gone from the nest keeping everyone fed. Between the eagles and the owls here, the rabbit population took a bit hit; fortunately they breed, um, like rabbits.

April 12th Ohio and US wildlife came out and did a complete survey of the nest, taking pictures and measurements from afar. When both eagles were gone, they hurried and snaked a fiber optic cable up the tree to see what was inside.  Eggs were about 5 inch long, wildlife says they looked very healthy.
