RO 3:21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. 22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished-- 26 he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

RO 5:6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

RO 5:9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

JN 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

RO 10:5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, `Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 "or `Who will descend into the deep?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Of course God loves you and you are good enough as scriptures says in John 3:16 This is how much God loved the world : He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed,by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. Also as Romans 8:35-39 says . Who shall seperate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written "For your sake we face death all day long, we are condsidered as sheep to be slaughtered." No in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future , nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.Mostly my friend do not listen to your own thoughts but listen to the word of God and take it by faith.God bless you and may Jesus reveal to you his love for you in Jesus name.Amen.Thank you Jesus.
Ephesians 1:4-6
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[a] predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

also in Titus He says

Titus 3:6-8
6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

This is the AWESOME part so if we are not Sons then we cannot be Heirs. But He chose us before the beginning of the world to be His Sons and Heirs along with Jesus and being an Heir means that we have access to ALL the Strength, Power, Healing, and Provision that the Bible promises us.
None of us are good enough as we count "good", but God's Grace is granted to us when we make the decision to follow Christ. Grace is described as "unmerited favor." therefore we have unmerited favor with God. We don't deserve it, we know that for a fact...but God says, because we chose The Son to be our Redeemer and Savior, we have favor with Him.

We think of God in terms that are familiar to us. But God is sooo much greater than we can ever hope to achieve. We need to practice thinking of God in unlimited terms. He is unlimited in His love for us and His ability to carry out all that He promises in His Word.

Most people cannot wrap their minds about how great God is. As you grow in the Lord, not only did He forget those things you did as an unsaved person, but we begin to forget those things as well. Time and Bible Study will help you to see the BIG picture.

Blessings to you in your walk with the Lord.
I think that God wanting to save a special people by grace means that even when they were lost and dead in their sins before being awakened by God and given new life, they were very valued by God.

From a devotion at www.heartwork.tv

Lydia is a woman born in Uganda to a dying widow. One of the only things Lydia received from her mother was HIV/AIDS. Lydia spent the early years of her life lying in the corner of her hut, being shown almost no affection, and teetering on the brink of starvation. If it were not for the concern of a neighbor who brought her food, Lydia would not have survived the early years of her life. Her mother died when she was only 9 years old, leaving her to be cared for by her 17 year old brother. Sadly, he was ashamed of his sister’s condition and refused to feed or medicate her, telling her she was dying anyway. She was rejected by the other children in the village and all she could do was pray that God saw her differently.

One day, the same neighbor who had provided food delivered the news of a home in town for children with HIV/AIDS. She paid for transportation to bring Lydia to the home and told the caretakers her story. Ms. Sara, the “mother” of the home, told Lydia that she wanted her to be a part of the family, and immediately loved as her own daughter. Ms. Sara opened her arms and drew Lydia in for a hug, this was foreign to Lydia who had never received affection in this way. Lydia collapsed into Ms. Sara’s arms and cried in joy. This was the care that Lydia had prayed for. She was loved.

Lydia grew up to be an extraordinarily compassionate woman whose smile now beams as she takes care of children coming from a similar situation that she did. With unshaken faith, she holds the children when they are scared, hurt, or sick, knowing that the embrace she received changed the course of her life. It told her that she was valued and worthy of affection. She gives out more hugs than most people because she understands the unspeakable power of touch.

Hi RoxChelsea,

This is a really old post, I wonder if you are still checking in here...

You have asked two questions that so many people ask.  I think we ask these questions once we get a glimpse of our sin against a Holy and Perfectly Righteous Just God.  Since God is 'Just' He must judge our sin.  We have sinned against Him as I'm sure you know, and that means that since God is Holy, Perfectly Righteous and Just, He must judge our sin according to His perfect standard which He has shown us in the 10 commandments.

However, God is not ONLY Holy and Perfectly Righteous and Just..  God is LOVE.  His essence is Love.  Everything He does and all that HE is flows from His core being...  which is Love.  God is Love.  Therefore, His Holiness, Righteousness and Just nature all flow from His core essence, which is Love.  God's Love is not sentimental or emotional or based on anything we do or haven't done, God's Love is based on who He is... NOT who we are.  He cannot deny who He is, and HE is Love.

So--- to answer your questions:

1) Does God love me?  YES.. a Resounding YES.  John 3.

16"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil.

2) Am I good enough to be in God's family?

No.. God's Love for us is not based on our goodness... Romans 3:10 says 'no one is righteous, not even one'.  If God's Love were based on our goodness we would have nothing to cling to.  We would have no hope.  Our hope is in Jesus Christ alone and His goodness, and what He has done for us on the cross.  We can cling to Jesus, His goodness, His Love, His sacrifice, His Grace, His Mercy...  And when we do that we can have assurance of our salvation.  This is usually quite offensive to people... We all want to think of ourselves as 'good'.  By human standards we make judgements and say foolish things like 'I'm a good person'.  God is good.  He's the only One who is.  BUT we are loved with an everlasting love that is unfathomable, unexplainable and irresistible.

We are accepted into God's family as His children when we repent of our sins and believe the gospel.

Jesus Christ suffered and died a sinners death (we're the sinners).  He rose again back to life.  He defeated the grave, He defeated sin and death, and IN HIM we have victory over sin and death.  Therefore we can come boldly to the Throne of GRACE, pray to God and walk (live) in gratefulness and love in HIS POWER not our own.  We don't have any power apart from God.

Blessings...

I love what you've said here, Carla. Even in the case of when fruit is good, it must be attributed to God, for none of us can produce within ourselves even the goodness that is an attribute of the fruit of the Spirit. God must produce it in us.

Yes.  Amen.
