All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Dear Greg..I am desperate and seek answers.Me and my fam hav always known God while we were growing up because of my mom being so religious.Although my dad lead a sinfull life he knew God.My mother had prayed for us all over the yrs and commited herself to God.I had many hardships during my life and used God as a spare, and after He pulled me through i just kept on with my sinfull life.As years went by my father changed and became more homely and peacefull. After his first bypass opp we grew closer to him, aspecially me.He always tried to keep me from making the same mistakes, and for the first time i knew true love from a father. It only got beter, but still he wasnt as commited as my mother.I am 38 today and two yrs ago everything changed for me. I settled down after two divorces and got maried to a very special lady who changed me in allot of ways. My father on the other hand, after three bypass opps and many good years became very ill after his little brother died tragicaly. Lung trouble, became diabetic and his heart started to fail him. During these last few months he started praying with my dear mother and asked God and my mother for forgiveness for all he had done. Although he did not go to often,he belonged to the afrikaans NG church. A few weeks ago the preacher of his church came to him on request and my father confessed his sins and prayed to be saved. Unfortunetly i have started a new life far away from my parents and could not always be there. It has been eight months since i had last seen him and i knew he was very ill. We planned to go vissit in Feb,but had to drive through the night three days ago after he ended up in hospital again. We went straight to him on our arrival and he was so happy to see us.He was so brave and loving. Last night an hour after i had left the hosp he passed away at the age of 72. Is he in heaven now? Is it possible that our prayers could still save him if he is not?I am very upset and cant function.I cant bear the uncertainty.I need to know, please help and guide me... Hannes

It is appointed for man to die once, after judgment. If the preacher of his church is from a Bible believing church, and he, your father confessed his sins and prayed to be saved, if he confessed with his own mouth, and believed in his heart that Jesus is Lord, then he is saved, even if he said it at the last moment. No amount of prayers can help him now if it is otherwise. I will advise you make your own peace with God now, if you have not already done so. procrastination could be dangerous.
Good Morning Hannes,

I am sorry to hear that you your father has passed on.

On the strength of what you have told us: "A few weeks ago the preacher of his church came to him on request and my father confessed his sins and prayed to be saved."

Then you may stop grieving and start to rejoice. Remember the thief on the cross? He did not need to be a Believer for most of his life. Jesus accepted his request immediately. Even though this man was a thief, the fact that he turned to Jesus and recognised who Jesus was and asked Jesus to remember him,
Jesus accepted him immediately: "TODAY will you be WITH ME in Paradise."

How can we be sure of this? We can be sure that your father is rejoicing in heaven today? We have the promise of Jesus Himself: "Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me." "Al wat die Vader My gee, sal na My toe kom; en Ek sal hom wat na My toe kom, nooit uitwerp nie" Jhn 6:37

It was not just an accident that your father confessed and repented. God reads the minds and hearts of men and plans everything accordingly. Hence the visit by the Dominee and the confession and sinners prayer that followed. With this in mind Hannes, you may all rejoice, rather than grieve.

Hannes I also know how you feel about your not being there for him. Everyone who has lost a loved one, feels the same way: "I should have been there - I should have phoned and corresponded with him more often - I did not let him know, how much I love him - I should have sent more money to help him financially......etc. " All these thoughts come into our mind and we start to blame ourselves. This is natural, it is a part of grieving. As time goes on Hannes the Lord will help you to overcome your grief. It is OK to grieve. It shows that we are human and not just robots. It shows that we do have a love for others.

The Lord Bless you and your entire family Hannes, as He draws Himself close to each one of You.
Ek is seker in my hart, dat die Here en jou Vader is by mekaar en sit lekker by mekaar en gesels oor u en u familie.

Hi Ron,

Dit reen hier in Pretoria, en dit is 'n wonderlike dag, en my hart is so seer, ek wil graag weet of julle kan bid vir my ex man Daniel, ons het hom so gehelp finansieel en hom weer op sy foete gebring, maar hy is nou so kwaad en agresief teenoor ons, "do not bite the hand that feeds you", ons was net goed vir hom en hy het so verander, en ek wil he dat so baie mense moet vir hom bid, dat hy oorvloed sal wees met die here se naam, dat hy sy oe sal oop maak en besef dat hy moet verander, in Jesus naam.

God bless you and your loved ones.

Mary

Hannes,

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your father from this life. Praise God that you have come here to seek support and answers...and comfort. Our Lord loves you so much, HE just wants to embrace you and hold you. Take all of your uncertainty and pain to the Lord, He wants to hear all of it from you. Let yourself rest in His sweet presence...

God's perfect Love casts out all fear, and He strengthens those who trust in Him. He is close to the broken hearted, and He blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. God blesses those who realize their need for Him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is given to them.

Do not let your heart be troubled, The Lord does not want you to worry about anything, He wants you to pray instead.

Hannes, I hope you are in fellowship in your community...surround yourself in Christian fellowship in your church. We are to be in submission to our church (for others)..but also, so that we are under Gods protection when difficult times come such as this. You also need Spiritual support from your community where you are living. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.

Love in Christ....I am lifting you up to the Lord...Carla
I feel your pain brother Hannes, I lost my mom ten months ago and it is not that easy to get over it but when we know our loved ones are in heaven, there is peace and joy in knowing we will see them again. I want to encourage you with these scriptures, they are so much help when the devil comes and attack you with guilt and confusion, Jesus says: Therefore whoever confesses me before men, him I will also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven Matthew 10: 32,33. Whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life, for God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world , but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned, but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds shall be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds might be clearly seen, that they have been done in God John 3:15-21. I hope these words encourage your heart and give you peace, Jesus clearly tells us whoever call on His name will be saved and will spend eternity with Him, heaven is beautiful and God allowed me to have a glimpse of it. Please read these scriptures and others that will assure you of God's love to us, the more you read them out loud especially now with your grief, I promise it will help you. The word of God does not lie. I believe your dad is in heaven, simply because he repented of his sins publicly and asked God for help. Do not let the devil beat you with lies like praying for him, praying for the dead is witchcraft and some religions started this to make money for themselves, there is no purtgotory, either you are in heaven or hell, I pray God will settle this issue in your heart once and for all, and the only way is to read God's word.
If your father confessed his sins and prayed to be saved, why would you doubt that he is saved? The Bible says that if a man confess with his mouth & believes in his heart that Jesus is Lord, he has salvation! When the person who has done this dies & leaves his body, he goes to be with the Lord. Either you believe the Word of God is true or you are calling God a liar. I understand that you are upset & grieved, because you couldn't be there to say goodbye, but you can trust God's grace. Pray for yourself, that you would grow in faith & knowledge of & obedience to the will of God. It's not doing good works & going to church that save you. It's about coming into a loving relationship with your heavenly Father by the sacrifice that Jesus made for you. You can be holy & approach God because of what Jesus did! He gives you the Holy Spirit & the power to change your life & do what pleases Him! May the Lord comfort you & make you strong in this time of loss.
IN THE LAST THREE YEARS I HAVE LOST MY MOM AND DAD. IT STILL HURTS,BUT I KNOW BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT THEY ARE IN HEAVEN! I KNOW BECAUSE I KNEW THEY KNEW JESUS AND I KNEW THIS ,BECAUSE THEY PROFESSED HIM EVEY DAY IN WORDS AND DEEDS. YES INDEED ,IF YOUR DAD CONFESSED HIS SINS AND PROCLAIMED JESUS AS SAVIOR,THEN YOUR DAD IS WITH THE LORD NOW AND FOREVER!!!!! PRAISE GOD! JAMIE
Dear Hannes, you can be sure that your Dad is in heaven, read Romans 10: 9:13 God does not lie, the same with my mum, she said the sinners prayer, didnt get baptised, died last year, but thank you Jesus she is saved,Amen be blessed.Paul
