All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Matthew 5:38-48 New International Version (NIV)

Eye for Eye

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. 40 And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. 41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. 42 Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.

Love for Enemies

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[b] and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

I recommend also to read first the KING JAMES VERSION because for the reason its I think the oldest translation of the Bible and for being not deceive or misguided by the many Bible translation

These verses of the Bible was one of the very hardest to do, think if they just HIT you normally you be get angry but now  you have the Knowledge  on the Bible what is right and wrong to do, you are guided what normally you would do, this is not easy as 1 2 3 it needs a full heart and commitment and conviction even myself saying it but never did it.

It was clear and Just and reasonable that if only you would return the love or positive things you return to a person done it to you what reward will you do? It is not normal?. This clears me what being perfect like a “God” the Father would do or doing, return the bad with goodness and in the end maybe the “God” the Father do the rest in his perfect doings.

Hi Raven,

Use of bible translation has been an ongoing debate within the church for many years.

My opinion differs from yours, just as you have given your opinion here, some may agree with you, and others will not.

It is a matter of preference and opinion.

The most effective way to study the bible is to look at different versions together.   Here's an exert from an article from gotquestions.org which may be helpful to you:

It is probably wise to have access to at least two or three of the major translations KJV (King James Version), NIV (New International Version), NAS (New American Standard), NKJV (New King James Version), ESV (English Standard Version), NLT (New Living Translation), for comparison’s sake. If a verse or passage in one translation is a little confusing, it can be helpful to compare it side-by-side with another version. It is difficult to say which translation is the "best." "Best" would be determined by a combination of the translation method personally considered best and your interpretation of the textual data underlying your translation. For example, the KJV and NAS attempted to take the underlying Hebrew and Greek words and translate them into the closest corresponding English words as possible (word for word), while the NIV and NLT attempted to take the original thought that was being presented in Greek and Hebrew and then express that thought in English (thought for thought). Many of the other translations attempt to "meet in the middle" between those two methods. Paraphrases such as The Message or The Living Bible can be used to gain a different perspective on the meaning of a verse, but they should not be used as a primary Bible translation.

There are many more Bible translations than the six mentioned above. It is wise to have a personal method for determining whether a particular Bible translation is accurate. A good technique is to have a set of Scripture verses you know well, and look those verses up in a translation you are unsure of. A good idea is to look at some of the most common verses that speak of the deity of Christ (John 1:1148:5810:30Titus 2:13) to make sure a Bible translation is true to the Word of God. Despite the multitudes of English Bible translations, we can be confident that God’s Word is truth and that it will accomplish His purposes (Isaiah 55:112 Timothy 3:16-17Hebrews 4:12).

(well explained and establish or show or educate or teach or manifest )

I use online bibles as well, particularly when I'm online.  That way I can copy and paste the verses.  Sometimes i type them out, typing them out helps me to memorize them.

There are several reputable online sites.  Here are some:

https://www.blueletterbible.org/

https://www.biblegateway.com/

https://biblehub.com/

Here's a link to the bible versions from another site:  https://www.biblestudytools.com/bible-versions/

This tells you about each translation and what they offer, how it was put together etc...

Additionally, https://www.e-sword.net/ is a free online bible study resource for your computer.  This is an excellent resource.  It is in your translation preference, KJV.  Just go to the site and download it. https://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html

I just noticed they also have a new download for the iphone:  https://www.e-sword.net/iphone/

Personally I use the NASB for accuracy, and the NLT for emotion, clarity and readability.  I use the two together but often use other translations as well.

Hope you find this helpful,

Blessings, Carla
