All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The bible says you should not resist evil people's demands, and to give to all who ask you, but what if my parents expressly expect me to use most of my money towards college? Is it wrong to give away that money to charity? This has been troubling me lately...

Take it context with all of scripture:

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

1 Timothy 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

Matthew 15-5&6. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

2 Corinthians 9:7
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Can you give less while going through college so that you can give more later?

So, are you saying your parents are evil & they are demanding you get an education with your money?

I have one question. When you say "my money", is this money you earned or money they put aside for your education?

Well, that's the thing. Most of it I earned through my job.

If you gave that to charity would you still be able to go to college without your parents paying more?
