All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Many of you know I was raised Catholic.  Most of my family is Catholic.  I asked my Mom what she was giving up for Lent.  She told me she did not give anything up, but she did extra things for those she is lead.

Is Lent "only" for Catholics?  Ash Wednesday is a reminder that from dust we can and dust we shall return.  Lent is a time for reflection.  Now I believe everyday is a time for reflection.  Still, do we look down on this, based on how we see religion?  Dismiss all based on views of Catholicism?  I would remind all, the Catholic Church has lasted over 2000 yrs.  I have walked away, for personal reasons, which I will Not share.  But, can any say all belief of Catholics are wrong.

I ASK IF YOU HATE THIS RELIGION PLEASE KEEP THAT TO YOURSELF. THANKS.

Chris,

I have attended Mass on Ash Wednesday, once, in the company of a young, disabled woman, wheelchair bound, who was Catholic, and as I helped her participate in the service and receive the placing of the ashes on her forehead, I also received them. I didn't wipe them away after leaving. Even though I'm not Catholic and never will be, I still was very moved by the Ash Wednesday service.

Hello Chris,

I have been studying some on the Catholic “religion” I emphasized religion, because in my studies I found that it is a religion, and not a relationship with Jesus Christ. Though they believe in Jesus Christ, the Death Burial, and resurrection. All of this is good, but it is some of the other practices and beliefs they have that does not align with the Word of God, as we see it. Because some of their beliefs are based on the books they say the Protestants took out, both in the old and the new testaments. They say they don’t worship Mary, yet they pray to her as an intercessor for them, they believe that Christ is actually in the Eucharist; for us it is “Communion” being symbolic of the Body and the Blood of Jesus Christ. I forgot what they call the prayer that they say that changes the bread and the wine into the actual body and blood. I could go on with a lot of their sacraments of baptisms, etc. but will not for now. I am supposed to have a meeting with them, maybe this week-end to discuss some of our differences. I am really looking forward to it. I don’t judge other religions openly, I tell them that judgment for that comes from God, and we will all stand before Him one day and give an account for our actions.

You are right in saying that every day is a time for reflecting; especially on our relationship with Christ.

You being raised in, or as a Catholic, maybe you can inform us about some of these sacraments they claim as being necessary for salvation.

Bless you for sharing.  I also Thank you for being a true servant, helping that woman.  You are a Blessing to so many.

Although I know Catholicism, I would not be a proper spokesman for the Church.  For as far a religion goes, I have issues with all of them.  I will say this, I tell all that I know about His Grace, not their works.  I thank you alos for sharing, I trust your time with them will be Fruitful for all Parties.
