All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

A new Christian from church asked me this question Sunday & I didn't have an answer ready for her. I read this today & found it really really interesting. Have you ever heard this before or have you heard of other reasons why Jesus didn't save John? "John the Baptist was the last prophet who had one foot in the Old Testament. So, if John the Baptist lived on, then we could not receive the Holy Spirit to live in us because he was the last person to have the Holy Spirit come upon him and leave. So, Jesus did not save John the Baptist because He was holding us as a nation back. So what satan and Herod meant with that sword to John the Baptist head for evil, they released a nation like never before, A Kingdom of Priests and a Holy Nation! Hallelujah!" http://www.assyrianvoice.net/forum/index.php?topic=34332.0;wap2

Death for the Christian is not to be feared and is to be recognized as a part of life that when passed through leads to the absolute fullness of life in Christ. For each of us there is a number of days we will live .... and then we die (lest the Lord returns first). Though John died before Jesus' resurrection He still trusted in Christ. John's time had come and his purpose in this life fulfilled. I know the last sentence is very simplistic, but sometimes simple is good as we often tend to make things harder than they are supposed to be. Food for thought.

Lord Bless,

My point just went flying right over your head & back to me, didn't it brother? lolol. My point was that the Spirit couldn't enter us until it left John. I just thought that was very cool - if it is true. I haven't looked into it any further. I was hoping someone like you would do the leg work for me. :)

LOL, I thought I heard something buzzing over my head as I typed my response ... :-)

lolol

Hi Guys,

Interesting to consider the  Baptist's words in John 3:30, " He must increase, but I must decrease."

It seems to me that John the Baptist had fulfilled Old Testament prophecy.....and completed his mission in preparing the way for Christ Jesus. Then he had the opportunity to baptize his distant cousin.  His work here was finished............

Grace and Peace.

I agree
