Jesus hung on the cross
His shoulders weighted with my sins
God had to turn away
No longer able to look at him
"My God, why have you forsaken me?",
With an anguish filled voice He cried.
Soon after He said "It is finished."
And bowing His head, he died
I am undeserving of seeing Heaven
Undeserving of God's endless love
But because of Jesus' sacrifice
Paradise waits for me above
I am undeserving but the price
So steep has been paid
By the man who rose from the tomb
From which He was laid
There are days I fall backward
There are days I stumble and slide
But I always ask His forgiveness
From God my sins I can't hide
When I feel lost and abandoned
In this world I seem adrift
I simply cling to my anchor
God's most precious, holy gift
I am undeserving of God's mercy
I do not deserve His forgiveness
But because of my love for Jesus
I know he offers nothing less
When my trials here are over
And I am standing before the Son
Though undeserving I pray I hear
“My faithful servant, well done.”
