Held in the power of God’s Love. Romans 8.18-39

Look where we are going . . . here in Romans chapter eight.

Scripture is meant to be read in its context.  So as we consider creation, we must remember that we have a hope and a future ourselves—an eternal one.  I have emboldened and underlined certain points, because my dear friends, these verses are critical to right thinking!  (perhaps you should consider reading this out loud, because this is one amazing passage, and I pray that it sends…

Paul and Nature . . . Anthropomorphism. Romans 8.19

Anthropomorphism - attributing human characteristics to an animal or nature.  Did you know that the apostle Paul used anthropomorphism in his letters?

“For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.”  Romans 8.19

“Poppycock!” you say, “As though creation understands that it is awaiting anything in the future—God-moved or otherwise!  Was Paul daft, Man?”  Permit me to take you where I’ve been in considering the answer…

having cancer...and endtimes...

Hi,   Having cancer and seeing that we probably are living in the endtimes isn't all that different for me.   God's time clock for all those who aren't of Israel, is soooo close to ticking  away to the last chance for salvation for them.  He will then again turn to draw the Jews to Himself (see Romans 9-11) !    Wow! -  when you hear prophecy preachers telling of the array of nations that will come up against Israel before Israel really does see that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, really was…

The Cloud Maker

High above, I find there,

the proud, cotton-like clouds covering the sky,

I come to think of their Moulder,

and express a joyful sigh,

with amazing shades of color,

often yellow, white and blue,

no matter what their hue,

I find them peaceful and true, wherefore,

desiring their Maker,

to worship and adore.

When darkness sojourns the night,

either without or the moon shines,

the clouds display their curves and…

Words that bug.

Some words associated with Christianity really turn people off.  These words have the power to alienate, confuse, and create hostility—so strong are the reactions at times.  I’ve seen the expressions on faces time and again when the words are used in a religiously-integrated or even denominationally-mixed group.  (Hey, I like that, “religiously-integrated”)

Born again.  The first time that I remember the term ‘born again’…

Imaginary Jesus

I recently read an outstanding book, "Imaginary Jesus," by Matt Mikalatos. It highlighted something I have witnessed others doing and I have even done it myself - we make Jesus to be what suits us, not who He truly is.

Every Christian should read this book. I am certain that many will find themselves within the pages.

You can get the book at…

Words of The Day

2 Chronicles 1:1-17 (Good News Translation)

God’s Word Goes Forth: Come to the Lord in Prayer

Introduction

2 Chronicles 1:1-17: 2 Chronicles tells the story of Solomon building the temple. It was written to give encouragement to the people who had returned from exile in Babylon. In today’s reading, Solomon and the chiefs go to Gibeon where the tabernacle of the Lord and the brazen altar were; there he offers a thousand sacrifices. The Lord appears to him in a dream, and gives him…

PRAYER for U and I

PRAYER for U and I

Dear God, I come before you to glorify your greatness and your goodness. Your mercy is infinite and your generosity is boundless. I am sorry for all things I have done that offended You Father. I only want to abide by Your will and surrender control of my life to You, I may have not been totally successful yet but I know in Your good time… I will get there. Dear God, please continue to reign in my heart and I thank You so much for the joy and peace that You…

Words of The Day

Example of an Apostle

(1 Corinthians 9:13-27)

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.…

The Vital Sign of Joy

Perhaps you feel God needs to do a work in your life to revive you spiritually, but you just don’t know what it is.

Over the next few weeks, I want to point you to the vital signs that may indicate the need for spiritual revival in your life.  The first one we find in Psalm 85.  It is lack of joy.   Look at the language in verse 6,

Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You?

When a…

Hope for the Hopeless

I have a situation occurring in my life right now that is difficult. It involves people who are treating me unfairly, even with cruelty at times.

It hurts because I have tried to be good and do what these people want. I just cannot please them. They don't want to like me. I think a lot of it is related to my Asperger's. They don't understand me and may even be a little afraid of me (afraid of what they don't understand). Nonetheless, they are…

THANK YOU JESUS

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU,

Because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were.

Because this morning my home was still standing,

Because this morning I am not crying

Because my spouse, my child, my brother or sister, my parent does not need to be buried

or to be pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete,

Because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water,

Because this…

Finding the way.

In all my life I never thought I would be where I am today, how I am here. Let me tell you something, people..I went through that wild teenager stage. As a teen living with my grandparents I thought they were just HORRIBLE to me. They made me go to bed at a decent time, they were strict, and they made me go to CHURCH! I had to work when I was old enough, and pay money to put aside for a car! Horrible, right? Wrong. I thought I had it so bad because I wanted to be the ruler of my life. The truth… Continue

Father? Romans 8.14-17

“Father”  . . . what does the word bring to mind for you?  Do you think of your dad—responsible, nurturing and loving?  ‘Or your dad—angry, critical, or not present.  Do you think of yourself—“Dad” being one of the hats you wear—one of your roles?  And if so,

what adjectives would you attach to yourself as a dad?

Do you transfer any of these qualities to your image of God the Father?  Hmmm . . . perhaps some thinking is in order.  ‘Like—if your dad was…
