The Peace of God & Christ

I have small engineering consultancy that only employ's myself, and over the last six month's I have had to put company growth on the back burner to facilitate a large contract away from home. With this contract coming to an end and the world economy looking like it does, you can emagine my apprehension and "worry", for lack of a better word, about what the future is going to hold and whether I still have any clients, willing to give me work when I return to Johannesburg.

I have been… Continue

TITHE AND CHRISTIANITY

Tithe is the tenth part of the spoils (Hebrew 7: 4). The spoils mean the net profit of income. The tithe can be recall as the tenth part of the net profit.

God instituted the law of tithe as payment to the service rendered in the tabernacle of the congregation (Numbers 18: 20-26). It has been observed that the main service by the priest in the tabernacle of congregation was offerings of gift and sacrifices (Hebrews 5:11) and tithes was made for the payment of the services (Numbers 18: 21) (Numbers 18: 31).

Many prophets have talked about the tithes from Genesis to Malachi (Malachi 3: 10). The tithe was paid to only the workers of the tabernacle of the congregation. These people were choosing by God himself. These were Levites (numbers 18: 6). Levites are children of Levi. Levites are one of the twelve children of Israel (Jacob) (Genesis 35: 23).

The death of Jesus is the new covenant sacrifice and made once and for all (Hebrews 9: 11). Jesus Christ is the sacrificial lamb and High priest, did the work of sacrifice (Ephesians 5:2) had gone to the place holy of holies once and for all believers (Christians) (Hebrews 9: 11). The one given out the work had done the work by himself. Jesus Christ been the High priest, had made every Christian a priest according to the new covenant by blood.

If the service for tithe has been done by our Lord Jesus Christ then why collection and payment of tithes? Those who collect tithes are they also some of Israelites. There was imperfection of in the Leviticus priesthood, in the old covenant that was why Jesus Christ brought the new covenant.

Under the Leviticus priesthood, there was a law of tithes. As the Levitical priesthood was changed, there was made of necessity a change also of the law of tithe (Hebrews 7: 11-12). Even Jesus Himself the sign of the new covenant did not make himself a Levite. He came from Judah (Hebrews 7: 13-14), (genealogy book of Jesus Christ Mathew 1: 1-17).
Then why those who follow Jesus Christ made themselves Levites?

The new covenant (death of Jesus Christ) has come to cancel the former commandment (commandment of tithe) because of its weakness and unprofitableness (Hebrew 7:18).

Remember when Jesus Christ was alive; the old covenant was not canceled. Mark 1: 41- 45). It was His (Jesus Christ) death stops and cancels the old covenant (Ephesians 2:15) therefore Christians people has Jesus as the Lord and saviour, are not to pay or receive tithe. The Law of tithe was cancelled by the death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So if you receive or pay tithe you disrespect the death of Jesus Christ and therefore the question is are you a Christian?

Today Pastors of Churches take themselves as Levities. This is not biblical because according to Ephesians 4:11, the Lord gave some people to be pastors, just for edifying the body of Christ (Ephesians 4: 11-12) but not made them to replace Levites. Even the Lord Jesus himself is not a Levite. He came from Judah (Hebrews 7: 13 – 14). The work of the Lord Jesus Christ must be done the way the Lord Himself had done it. Receiving the Lord as personal Saviour is not a work done by any body but the Lord Himself through us. A Christian, a Holy Ghost person, must understand that by receiving the Lord Jesus is done by the Lord Himself.

It is a gift through the grace of the Lord Himself. If we received this fair share from Christ, do we give it to others for money. Acts 8:20). We do Christ work without a charge. Jesus Christ who works through us has been blessing and remunerating us through diver’s means.

Why you Pastor collect tithe from people tithes from people because of our Lord Jesus Christ. Apostles did not eat anyone’s bread free of charge but worked night and day that they might not be a burden to anyone (II Thessalonians 3:8 ) and have commanded every Christian to work and eat their own bread and withdraw from people who are in disorderedly manner , not working at all but are busy bodies.
(II Thessalonians 9: 14- 18)

The command of the Lord that the labour is worthy of his wages (Mathew 10: 9 – 11, Luke 10:7, Corinthians 9: 14) implies any gift given out to you because of Christ work you because of Christ work you must not deny it. The Lord was not talking about the tithe. Please we should not abuse the authorities given to us in Christ. The gospel must be given out without charge.

(1 Corinthians9: 14-18) (1 Corinthians 9: 18)

Please I just want us (believers of Jesus Christ) to hold onto our faith (which Satan wants to dismantle) strongly till the day of our redemption.
We should be careful not to let men spoil us through philosophy and vain deceit, after tradition of men, after rudiments of the world and not after Christ (Colossians 2: 8)

WHAT'S A CHURCH?

A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired. As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation. The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.

"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty-dollar bill proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City , the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean "

"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"

"So tell me," says the twenty-dollar bill, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"

The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the Methodist Church , the Baptist Church, the Lutheran Church."

The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"
