Somewhere here all of these are posted as comments I think, not sure if I ever added them to bird album. Annea took all of these except the eggs with her canon eos 5d mark iii camera (that cost about half of my SUV), with a telephoto lens after climbing about 40 feet up in a tree, 150 feet away from the nest. April 8, 2012 when we first discovered the nest in the far north-west of the woods. The nest was more than 4 feet wide and as deep. This is the female, yelling at her mate way off hunting - probably telling him to hurry up with the pizza.

Feet Trees: when the eagle pair moved in spring of 2012, I contacted both Ohio and US Wildlife since they keep a close where eagles are nesting. Plus they gave me a ton of information and other links how to treat them so they would come back every year (Loud noise will drive them away very quickly). Both the adults and 1 eaglet came back early April. Although they will eat anything they can catch (large adults can kill small deer fawns) such as rabbits, mice, other birds, even dead animals (they had a shot at my cat but missed - Tiger now knows not to go into clearings and mostly now hangs with the dogs in daytime, their favorite food is fish, so they usually are near areas with large bodies of water. Coupled with the fact they also like heavy woods in remote areas, the big concentrations are along north Pacific coast like Washington state and Canada.  Last year Ohio division of wildlife says until this one, there were 116 nesting pairs known in Ohio, we are one of 9 new nests reported this year and the only nest known for Hocking County. Wildlife people came out to register, photograph and study the nest, including seeing if eggs have been laid, they said of the other 116, 72 had 1-3 eggs.
Weather has been so up and down, I haven't been keeping close tabs on the nest this year since I saw hey came back; plus I keep at least 200 feet away so I don't disturb them. I'll repost last years photos since, I don't have a good telephoto camera like Annea had.

Wow,this is a city,I wonder why it was around. Only seen it for a split second because it was flying. Seen the brown body and white head. Dad said it didn't look like normal birds.

I would imagine it would be pretty rare unless you lived in a city like Seattle, WA with a combination of forest/mountains and coastline (preferred ecosystem), even then they are very adverse to noise and crowds. (When the eagle pair nested here last year in the woods, US wildlife advised to keep at least 300 feet away and not use any sort of power tools in their area). Didn't take any chances and only took a handful of photos via telephoto lens.

How common is it to see an eagle in a city?

Lovely Journeyman, whales are one thing I've never experienced in person, someday I hope to visit either Pugeot Sound, Washington or New England with a colder Marine environment.

Welcome Journeyman to the group!...Oh well, so much for adding a discussion on  "The Swedish National Bikini Team Goes Hiking". And splendid photo JM, such a rich array of colors! I see a lot of US north mid-west/ North east plant species in it.
