All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When you look into a person's face, or into their eyes, do you see through them? Can you instantly determine the nature of their soul at a glance?

I think we can and many times do without realizing it. I personally think a person's soul is visible through their eyes. I know I seem to be able to read alot into a person's spiritual condition at first eye contact and was wondering if others notice they can do the same.

Im not talking about applying inferred judgment here..because we certainly cannot read what the person thinks, feels, goes through..etc. Yet, somehow we seem able to sense quite early in association whether a person is a saved member of the christian family or not (or if they are on a brink of becoming saved), without even asking the question. For instance, some people I meet give me an almost instantaneous blank sensation, while others give me a sense of warmth just by looking into their face. I'd like others' thoughts on this please. Thanks.

Dear Glenda,

I am a firm believer that a person’s soul shows in the structure, the actual appearance, of the face. We are not the only ones that can discern character and moral structure from the eyes or face sis, but it is not a common thing. Most people cannot tell someone’s moral fiber simply by looking at a person’s face or/and eyes. We always have to keep in mind though that there are folks who are aware that there are people that can tell their moral fiber makeup by simply looking at their eyes or the construction of their face, because often they posses that ability as well and have learn how to modify/alter their look and appearance. So there are those transformers among us that are capable of great deceit.

Blessing sis!

Awesome question. I have often wondered if anyone else had that ability.....

It had to be you...
Dave..of course, you know me :) ..which is kinda the point here, lol.

I absolutely agree that some people will try to hide through a reconfiguration of some sort, and some are pretty good at it. But they can never hide forever..the truth is always revealed at some point. However, even when in hiding, I can mainly sense their attempt to create a cover; maybe not as immediately, but I can sense that too. In such case, I just wait to see, literally.

Does it frighten you at all (or make you feel uneasy) when you come upon someone who gives you that blank sensation?--Don't answer that, Dave. I know nothing scares you--These people cause me to want to run for the hills fast. I think this is a wrong reaction, since we should instead want to help these people, but I almost cannot help it. They make me feel nervous. This is where a big issue of mine comes into play. Whenever I articulate this fear to another person (which I don't often), I usually explain that I assume a general fear of people, but it's not exactly true. Rather, I fear those who comprise that blankness. What's most frightening to think is that blankness seems to describe so many people that I'm even able to generalize it!

Anyway..I'm not sure if this was the right group to begin this thread, lol. I just thought that since this group deals with human relationships that this might fit :) Who knows (shrugs)..I'm here now, haha, and I'm stayin here :D
What sis Genuine? -

John 7:24 (New King James Version)
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

WHAT DO WE DO WITH THE VERSES BELOW:

Why am I bringing this up, Because Despite the believe that we are not called to judge all matters -

We are in numerous passages told to examine all things, to examine ourselves and others as well, of course we are not to do that hypocritically but -we are to correct one another as scripture teaches in Matthew 18:15-17. Correction in love calls for judgment of the situation, but we are not to judge for condemnation, but for edification in love.

John 7:24 (New King James Version)
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

The hypocritical way in which we should not judge is described in Matthew 7 and here:
Romans 2

1 Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things

Romans 14:13 (New King James Version)
13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.

1Corinthians 2:15 (New King James Version)
15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one

.So there is a right way to judge and a wrong way:

We must also understand that we are a living organism and we all have been gifted by God to do different functions. Some among us have a great zeal for doctrinal purity and how they go about bringing up disputable matters in doctrine depends on their own maturity level in the Lord. Some who have a passion and gift have not yet learned how to practice it and we must exercise patience with them.

In turn we must also acquire thick skin, the world will hate us and within our body they're will be friction as IRON SHARPENS IRON. Spiritual and emotional Though skin is a must and attainble as we keep the armor on.

We are called to judge all things! we are to examine every spirit. What me and Glenda are talking about sis Genuine is some thing much deeper than a outward apperance judgement, it has nothing to do with apperance. is and ability that God has gifted some to see beyond the apperance.

Hope this helps
Glenda,

hahaha How can I not love you sis. when you know me so well hahahaha No, but thanks for thinking so highly of me, as to say nothing scares me - I tell you, I wish that was true, but our President scares me hahahahaha Ok ok cheap shot at my president hehe I do pray for the knuckle head :)

Well beautiful you have to remember that the world is lost; we are dealing with the walking dead. And that is not an arrogant statement (though it totally sounds like it) or a holier than though trip. It is true, even the successful folks are void.

I think I know the blank stare you are referring to though, but I would like you to detail it a bit more if you please.

This is the perfect group to bring this up.

I was going to mentioned that on my first response, but I type so much hahaha all over this awesome community that I was beat and was lazy to type anymore. Hehe

You may also have the gift of discernment. I am able to tell peoples intentions/motives at times. The Holy Spirit reveals to me if someone has malice etc in their heart and instructs me how to proceed. Sometimes God lets me know that someone has ill motives and commands me to bless them any way. I have asked the Lord why and He tells me, I will repay to them accordingly and I will bless you as you know, so be obedient and do as I tell you, because I want this person to know that there are Godly people that are still willing to love sacrificially. Other times He tells me, that person is trying to manipulate the situation for their gain, be stern in love and talk to them.

But I am grateful to have such a gift cause it takes me one date to know if the person I am with is some one I should invest into or not. Can I be wrong and think the person I am dating is not the one, because of the upset stomach the humongous burrito I ate gave me, hahahaha hahahaha lol of course.

Love you in Christ sis. :).
