letting go the past

I have a lot of resentments and grudges that I would love to let go, but have no clue how to do that. So much of my anger and resentments are learned traits passed down to me by family. I am some generational curses may be involved. I am new here and would love some ideas as to how to finally be free from the hurts from my past, because all of this pain and resentment and fear, is messing up my present. Thanks.

I thought I let go of certain things in my past. Just recently I saw a picture of the woman who has my daughter. Although I thought I forgave this person for the wrongs she had done, when I seen her picture, all these emotions came flooding back, I couldn't sleep, and worst of all I didn't pray about it or read my bible. But I was reading my bible today and came across Philippians 4:6-7( I posted blog on this ) and it helped me.

I don't think that we will ever forget our past hurts but there is one thing I find that does help me when I have to deal with people from my past that has hurt me. First I will say a prayer to myself and then I will tell the Devil that he has no ownership in this meeting and that I want him to flee in the name of Jesus! Pray and take back your life. When we give in to the hurt and pain from our past. Then everyone that caused all that pain still owns us.

I am struggling with some past hurts that has been affecting my present relationship(s). Right now I fasting for deliverance and to let go and let God have all of me, but am I suppose to forget as well?

I really believe I have forgiven all that have hurt me but sometimes dealing with those same folks, when something occurs that triggers that past pain, I get scared and/or defensive because I don't want to go back don that road of pain. The situation is different and the outcome maybe different but the past pain makes me react before I think.
