How can you convince a person God loves them when all their life they have had bad things happen to them. Then when they were asking God "if you are real, help me." they tell you God never answered.

There's a book called Prayer: The Great Adventure by David Jeremiah. It'a about how to be friends with God through prayer. As for talking to someone who believes God never answered, prayers are answered by God within the will of God.

You tell them to read the book of John, the Gospel of John and to ask God to help them understand it. Tell them that God says that whosoever comes, will be saved, so they should continue to seek salvation. Remind them that God doesn't lie. He has called everyone to repentance, so ask her, if she understands that she has sinned against God and that she needs to repent and receive Him to come to God with a broken heart about her sin. Depending on her responses - the Spirit will guide you how to proceed.
Salvation belongs to the Lord, but He has ordained for us to have an active part in the process. Living a life that brings Him Glory is a great tool for the master. He gives the increase, He changes the heart, but we are the voice of God through our speech, but primarily through our actions.

God wont listen to people if they are willfully or habitual sinning. In order to talk to God you must confess and repent of your sins ( saying sorry to God and not do does sins ever again). Eternal Life is a work of God.
John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him and I will raise him up at the last day”.
John 6:65 “And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father”.
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ”.
