I dont know what scripture says about church but I know I went to learn more about the Lord. I had heard that people are to fellowship together. I guess i thoiught the reason for church was to learn about the lord and to worship Him.  I know im a dumb hick LT =D . I read all yalls intelligent input.... then sometimes yall have to see my 1 cent. I love yalls forum topics..

Janie,

Thanks for the input. I want to wait until we get a number of responses before I respond much in this forum. I don't know about the hick part, but I do know you are special to the Lord :-)

Lord Bless,

LT

Girl, I'm from NC. You can't get much more hick redneck then I am. I feel a little stupid at times responding to their very intelligent discussions esp when Amanda gets to going. I don't respond much because they usually cover everything I believe by the time I even read the title of the discussion so I figure my few hick words don't really matter much. hehe

I am just a southern country boy ... so that makes three hicks. No jokes please, I hear one coming :-)

I was born in Ohio, Tammy, and live in hillbilly country now. I have no common sense.

But that brain of yours makes up for the hillbilly part

Oh to think I missed this when I left for a few months.. :-)

small town girl here.. now living in the sub-burbs... what does it all mean anyway?.. We're all residents of Heaven..  :-D

I was born in Ohio, and moved right along side ya.  WV and KY are about as hillbilly hicksville as it gets.  They even call us Hillbillies here.  But then they also say...Wild Wonderful ALMOST Heaven WV.  ;-)

Teaching, fellowship, worship, prayer.

We are told not to give up meeting together. Many do quit. Disobedience doesn't seem to matter too much anymore since past present and future sins are all already forgiven and confession just means agreeing with God that yes I have sins and I'm not ever going to be perfect in this life and Jesus is my Savior. I don't quite understand that POV but it sounds like a get out of jail free card.

I don't go to church regularly but feel guilty for not going and many would call that legalism since my sins are all forgiven and I'm pure and righteous in Christ.

So I don't know why church even exists anymore. We won't get thrown into Hell for not going. People have trouble accepting each other. There are always fights and quarrels and people get hurt in church. Maybe if everyone looked at God as being the audience instead of wanting the entertainment they can receive from it, then attitudes would be more about pleasing God with worship and adoration.

But then people would likely get caught up in how well they are performing for God, wondering if He is pleased with them.  It's almost, too, like those who support the church financially want to get what they are paying for out of it -- a sound message, good singing, fun activities, and if somebody gets saved then that's great. I apologize for being sullen. I think sometimes everything is pointless ... But that's no excuse. Forgive me for my attitude.

But Jesus is supposed to be the center and the focus. The Church is the Bride of Christ, the Body. He loves her. He died for her. We should want to gather together for Him, out of love for Jesus, if it is at all possible for us to go ... And if we love Him, really.

No need to apologize. I wanted honest answers from various perspectives. Thanks for replying.

Thanks for replying.

Are the above statements in harmony with each other? Are they in harmony with Scripture regarding the purpose of the church?
