The Bible
I have two questions to ask. Though I know who the author of the Bible “Word of God” is, But!
#1. Why was the bible written? &
#2. To whom was it written?
Your thoughts, and/or scriptural reference.

I will attempt to respond to 2 questions that could be expanded on immensely, but will attempt to be succinct.
1) The Word of God was written to express the mind and will of God. The expression includes a revelation of God and His plan/will. This plan includes mankind and is exemplified by the fact that He has demonstrated His love for us by dying on the cross for us.
2) The Word of God was written, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, with a two fold purpose (again seeking to keep it simple). It was written specifically for the target group of the time (i.e. Luke wrote to Theophilus ; Hebrews to the Hebrew; 1 & 2 Corinthians to the church in Corinth; etc). All that is written has principles that are applicable to us today, but not all is a promise that we can personally claim. It is important to recognize two things regarding a promise in Scripture. 1) To whom was it given? Was it to a person, a group, a nation or to all of mankind directly. 2) Is the promise we seek to claim a temporal or eternal promise and is it conditional or unconditional. One example, Joshua was told to march around Jericho seven days and given specific directions regarding this promise. If followed (conditional) the walls of Jericho would fall (specific promise to a specific people: temporal). There are principles in this account, but no promise for us to claim today. A second example that most do not like today is the jailer to whom Paul stated that this day he and his whole household will be saved. This promise was made to a specific person and does not seem to have any conditions attached. Many seek to claim this promise today, but yet we see family members pass into a Christless eternity. Did the promise fail ... was faith weak ... or did someone attempt to claim a promise that is not theirs to be claimed? If it is a promise to be claimed by faith alone then the freewill of the family member is taken our of the equation. Food for thought.
Thus, going back to a comment I made that received some attention in another discussion. Many claim to believe in God, but do we believe God? The key here is understanding what we are to believe and then believing God will act according to His Word and character.

WHY? = "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (II Timothy 3:16-17, KJV).
TO WHOM? = "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ." (I Corinthians 2: 14-16, KJV).
So, the Bible is not written for the world........but for those with the mind of Christ.

I want to post several answers to the first question but I haven’t looked into the 2nd question yet.
*John 20:31-32 So that the reader may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, & that believing you may have life in His Name.
*Romans 10:14-15 So preachers can study so that they can preach so that listeners can hear & believe. “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
*Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing & hearing by the word of God. So that we may have faith & grow our faith as well.
*1 Peter 1:22-25 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth thru the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently w/a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, thru the word of God which lives & abides forever. Written to show the born-again believers how they should live.
*So that we grow in Him. 1 Peter 2:2-3 as newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
*Eyewitness account of historical events.
*Encouragement
I'm going to shorthand the 2nd question without really looking into it yet. The books were written by many men but the same God. Some books were written to the Israelites, some to the Gentiles though I believe we can walk away with lessons from all of them as His children.

Why was the Bible written?
According to Romans 15:3-6 the scriptures were written for the following purposes:
1. to teach us
2. to provide endurance
3. to provide encouragement
4. to give us hope
5. so that we would have the mind of Christ
6. so that we would have unity
7. so that we would glorify God

To whom was it written?
Primarily the Bible was written directly and immediately to the Hebrew people. However, Romans 15:4 clearly says that in a greater sense "...4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction,
e.g. the Bible was written for the church... but only in the context of having first been written to the Hebrew people. [Note: I don't use the term "Jews" which in a Biblical sense means the people of Judaism, which was the Pharisaic twisting of the Mosaic covenant].
In an even greater sense, however, the Bible was written for the whole world. As it says "God is not willing that any should perish, but desires that all should come to repentance". (2 Peter 3:9)
As Jesus said in John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"
Consider how many people had to suffer and work in peril to bring you the Word of God, in your language. The list is far too long to name here. Beginning with Moses and the scribes and faithful believers of old, coming through the New Testament Apostles, to the persecuted early church, to the faithful monks and scribes of the middle ages, to the reformers and reformation translators who would not allow the religious authorities to keep the Bible hidden away in an obscure language, to the modern translators who have to fight against political correctness to give you an accurate translation.
...in a sense, it was written directly to you...
