Something i wil never forget. One night I was looking up at the stars, and I was talking to God. I wanted to know if He was listening to me and if He was by my side. I asked for Him to reveal a shooting star to prove these two things to me, it didnt happen right away but I had faith that He would show me a star, about 10 minutes later I looked up and i clearly saw a shooting star! I was excited and so happy! it made me feel so good knowing that the Lord had time to be by my side and listen to my prayers. :)
Hey Sandra,

We serve an awesome God who is capable of sending a shooting star to assure and comfort one of His own when they need it. Amen.

Hey LT,

Thanks for starting this discussion. I posted the following as a response to another discussion (http://www.allaboutgod.net/forum/topics/1383940:Topic:49818?xg_sour...)

But here it is again..God is so GOOD:) YES HE IS!

Over the last year, I battled a severe “astrology addiction” to horoscopes, tarot cards and psychic readings. For those of you unfamiliar with the term, it refers to a state where a human being is unable to function or make major decisions without looking up what the cards/stars etc. have to say. It began with the innocent habit of reading my horoscope online to a point where I began to spend hundreds of dollars on e-psychic networks and astrology sites. I didn’t even realize when the habit became a crutch and I began to justify things in my life with “It is my fate" "It is written in the cards/stars" "It is pre-ordained, I couldn't help it". I don’t even know how I let myself spiral out of control to the extent that I woke up every morning, turned on my laptop, and spent HOURS online on hundreds of websites ‘checking my future’. I was in graduate school that time – my grades suffered, my thesis suffered, my social life suffered, my finances suffered, and at the same time I kept turning to astrology to find out what I needed to do to fix things. To this day, I remember the manic intensity with which I emailed/called/faxed astrologers/psychics for personal forecasts and personal counseling, which increasingly spiraled out of control when things did not go my way. Today, when I reflect on those months of torment I went through, I realize I literally gave the devil an open invitation to ruin me and drag me to hell. When things didn’t go according to my readings, I had horrific nightmares about my life that I never ever want to relive again.

How am I a sane person today? Christ brought me through. He did for me something that no medical treatment/shrink/counseling etc. could do. After a few days during my walk with Christ, I woke up one morning with the desire to look at my daily horoscope gone - and anything else related to future telling. I cannot describe that feeling – like a weight had been taken off, like I just didn’t need to read that nonsense anymore, like I was simply immune to its lure. And then a gradual realization that as long as I am in Christ, my future is in His hands, only He knows what He has planned for me, so why on earth did I need to depend on anything else? I am alive today because of Him, because He pulled me out from a pit and walked me away from Hell. He is awesome, He is my savior, He is powerful, He is love, and He holds my life together today. I am so glad to be his child.
Does God want us to partake in these activities? NO, HE DOES NOT. I realize my case was very extreme, but otherwise too, why should we need to depend on new age fads when as Christians, our futures are safe with Him? I was an absolute fool and the devil really had his way with me. I am so grateful that I am a new person in Christ today, that I can finally walk with Him, and learn to trust in Him as the guide of my life.

Blessings,
Aditi

You are welcome Mary! I am so glad I am able to share my testimony and it is all because of His grace. I will pray for your friend and hope that she will call on the Lord for help. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Amanda,

It is really cool how not only did God give this woman grace to go through her death journey, but He also touched you with the grace He gave her and impacted your life through your witnessing her journey.

God is good.

Bev,

Oh how I can relate. My journey has different stories, but the same rebellion that could have left me dead, but for God.......

Amen and Hallelujah.

Dear Bev

I can definitely relate to seeing God's protection in hind sight . Especially from before I accepted Him. I was involved in a car accident while drunk ( I wasn't driving ) . We were coming back from crossing the state line to drink because we weren't old enough to drink in our state. It was one that the people who saw the car couldn't believed that all 3 of us walked away from. I say 'walked' but we were pretty badly beaten up and in shock . That's probably the only reason we could walk. I had passed out in the back seat as we were leaving the neighboring state . I thought many times how I could have woken up before the judgement seat of Christ instead of Parkview memorial Hospital.

But , due to my rebellion , that didn't discourage me from drinking. In fact , while my 2 friends and I were looking at picures of the crash sight and the mangled car we were drinking beer and laughing.

I can also really relate to your regret about disappointing my mother. She died of cancer when I was 19 . That was long before I 'came to my senses' , so to speak. The only thing I did to please her was to actually graduate from high school. Which my older brother hadn't , and give her a granchild to fuss over before she died. She only got to see her for about a month before she passed , but that's about the only bright spot that I brought into my mother's life.

Anyhow , I believe that she's in heaven because of what was said by her pastor who visited her in her last days so I guess that's something.

God is good and I pray that He will continue to bless you in all you do , my very dear friend.
Mary,

Yesterday was a perfect example of not fearing for God shall meet all your needs. Everything went wrong one thing after another and i started crying in frustration. First the internet would not work, then I lost my math project in word because apparently my trial had ended and i had no idea. This project was huge and I had been working on it for about three nights...mind you and i had to have it done by sunday night, well this all happened sunday afternoon. That still small voice told me everything was going to ok and to be calm, then i remembered i had a microsoft office pack in the car, i downloaded it to my computer, got my work done within 4-5 hours. I found out today i got a 100% and was 1 of the 3 in the entire classroom to make a hundred on the project. God is good i tell ya! These past few days, satan has been pushing me because I am trying to get back into the swing of things with the Lord, another thing...we were running low on cash until wed, we had little food, little milk for the baby and was running low on diapers, I didn't worry too much about it and today my husband comes home at lunch with cash for scrapping out metal from work. Tonight we were able to get dinner, milk and a package of diapers and with money left over! It's been great :) I know the Lord will take care of our needs and satan will not come between Him and I.
hi Lt
THE TRIP i have never put a title to this before, but it sounds appropriate, first to set the stage 1985 God sent my wife, my children, and me to bible collage, to some this would be nothing, but me being from the wrong side of the tracks so to speak, was a bit different, to begin we had 4 kids, i worked in a inner city mission making $6.00 hr. lots of hours. no overtime pay, i made enough to keep afloat, also i shared my testimony and what little i knew in scripture, with anyone, often people would say what makes you so smart you've never been to bible collage, I'd say, no i haven't, i am just telling you what Jesus did for me, others would say you should go to bible collage, i thought what on earth, are they going to teach me, not from a point of arrogance, but i really didn't know, and to me schooling didn't mean anything, when i was in grade 3 apparently i was to smart and they put me in grade 5 where i became the class dummy because i skipped grade 4, then they put me in grade 6 then into grade 7 where i failed 3 years, now i was getting to old, so they put me in grade 8, i didn't pass, they put me into hi school thinking i might do better, i did 3/4 of gr...9 no marks went back the next year did 1/2 of gr.. 10, swore at the teacher and got kicked out, so much for schooling, from 16 years old to 33 i red 1 small pocket book, it took me 3 months, the only other thing was the news paper for 2 yrs. on working days, because of a boring job, but ,any word i didn't understand, or had 6 letters or more i just skipped over, by age 33 i was a total alcoholic, my next stage would have been after shave lotion or boot polish, i was functioning blacked out and at the last i was drinking my self sober, Jesus told me to pour my alcohol down the sink i dumped out $ 100.00 worth, He set me free even the urge to drink gone, now back to the bible collage, my wife ( a 4.0 honor student )wrote various collages for there pamphlets, i am trying to read this course ( the o log ee - this is what i thought it said ) it of corse was theology, well i had no idea which one to go to, but as i looked at many of them THE lord spoke to me and said Prairie, all excited i told my wife, she said no ! way etc. i put them away, took them out some time later, God said Prairie, i told my wife, she repeated her earlier statement, i got smart i shut up, i talked to God about it, i said Lord i'll go to prairie you convince her, it took min 6 months to answer every argument she had, i filled the application under the list of no-no,s or things that could keep you from going to collage, have you ever; smoked-yes, drank-yes, done drugs-yes, been divorced-yes, been in jail-yes, do you speak in tongues-yes, have you got your grade 12-no, how will you pay for your education-God will provide. we sent it off ended up being excepted approximate cost $50,000.00 good meaning christians said things like your to stupid, you will be back in a month bringing shame on the name of Christ, and a lot more, i said i know God spoke to me and i am going, well God restored my mine, i never failed a course, and 5 years later i have a B.R.E. pastoral minor degree, and no debt, God provided miracle after miracle, well bible collage is finished, we will be traveling in Alberta doing different, camps as camp counselors, for about 2 months,( before heading back to Ontario where we live ) but our VW rabbit died we have no car for 3 weeks, then someone from church phones my wife and says would you like a car a beautiful 1978 buick, my wife says how much they say $1.00 my wife says you'll have to talk to my husband, i said yes, my Aunt called and asked me if we would come to Surrey B.C. as she wanted to meet my kids, i talked with my wife she said no way, if we want to do that we need another $300.00, that day in the mail we got a check for $100.00 from someone back in Ontario who had never wrote us before or since, with a note saying "i believe you should use this for traveling expenses, later that day My Aunt phoned and said to my wife you guys never ask me for money, ( the rest of the family did) i want to give you $200.00 when you come out, did every thing now back in Three Hills to prepare for our trip back to Ontario about 3700 miles, first we need a trailer, i was going purchase for $50.00 the back end of a n old truck, that has been converted into a trailer, but the fellow gave me free, for this trip we have $800.00 i buy a trailer hitch $100.00 i build sides, a top and doors, a friend tells me to check the bearings,i say yes but procrastinate, we load the trailer it has 6,000 lbs. far to much, a friend comes buy says he is going to ontario and takes 1/2 the load in tis truck, and leaves, my friend the truck driver says did you do like i said check the bearings well no , ok jack it up and put it on blocks and we'll check them sure enough they need replacing, we pull the axel and take it to our local car dealers shop, o ya no problem ping-snap ping-snap both bearings off, the mechanic goes to get new ones, but discovers the number does not exists, and ask what vehicle there from i have no idea there is no name on this trailer, after much searching someone told us it was a old international truck that had been discontinued in the 1950s so trips to Calgary and Redreer finely got 2 bearings, got them pressed on but now the shaft was to short , ended up getting the end welded, all put back together, hook the trailer to the car, the tongue of the trailer and the rear of the car make a( v) shape almost touching the road, we need a load leveler hitch cost $800.00 which we don't have, 3 days later a friend calls and says drive north about 5 hours almost to Edmonton and see such and such person, i do he put the load leveler hitch on for me at his cost which was $300.00, all packed up ready to go, i calculate milage we are getting about 21 miles to the gallon, i figure we should get about 18 miles per gallon pulling a trailer, we have $400.00, we figure 4 days,we are going to camp, and buy our food in grocery stores, so we should be fine, we left on monday, i did not realize we were only going to get between 9 and 11 miles per gallon, we chose to travel through the U.S. on I-90 because the gas was a $1.00 per gallon, as compared to canada at that time was $2.30 a gallon, not noticing till much later we had 3 fill ups at $60.00 each, we got to Great falls Montana, a friend had given us there keys and told us to stay at there place and eat whatever we wanted to, we stayed the night and left the next day tuesday we left, as we started heading into the mountain range the car started to over heat, we pulled off and sat for two hours to let the car cool down, we had to pull into a place called Butte Montana the store was closed but they were very nice and opened it up for us to buy parts, they said to my wife that there was a campground close buy we could stay at, i said to her i don't think we should as we have less than $125.00 left and we have about 1700 miles to go, they said there was a grass area we could set up our tent, we did God was going to take my violent temper away, we were there 3 days every thing that could go wrong fixing the car including breaking a bolt off in the engine, every time i needed something i had to walk back up the hill the temperature was 105 degrees, God gave me such peace i never got angry once, i hooked up temperature gauge so i would know how hot the engine was and not destroy it, on friday we left we didn't get far, we got to Sheridan Wyoming we har to pull into a K.O.A. camp ground and eat at a restraunt as there were no grocery stores around, we were told a bike gang had just left they had taken over the camp ground for the last 3 days, we had $55.00 left, and we were supposed to be back in ontario , the next day for our home coming party, so my wife phoned to let our friends know that we would not make it, as there talking they question my wife and find out that we have no money, they wired us $1,000.00 U.S. and told us we were to get the rad replaced the problem was it was to small toe the trailer, we picked the money up late saturday from western union, nothing was open, as we drove around i saw a church and said looks like a good one, we'll go there tomorrow, we went i put $100.00 tithe in the offering, after service people were talking to us, one fellow invited us back to his place, i thought he meant for lunch, but he said no he wanted us to stay at his place until the car was fixed, deb and the kids went with his wife, while him and i went back to the camp ground hooked the trailer up, paid the bill and drove to his place, at his place my wife said we would be gone tomorrow his wife said no i believe you will be here three days, monday morning he took me to the rad shop, they ordered the rad said it would be in tomorrow, as it had to come from another state, him and i had an incredible time sharing Jesus with those in the rad shop and in the restraunt, we went back down tuesday, they recieved the wrong rad, reordered would be in wednesday, we had another incredible day sharing Jesus, back down wednesday rad replaced, i got the bill $430.00 i started to get mad then i thought no, and said Jesus if there ripping you off you deal with them, i rejoiced and we shared Jesus, thursday we left there place we purchased some food to get set up when we got back home because it is so much cheaper in the big superstores in the U.S., we stop for the night at a campground it's rainy the grass is long the misquotes are bitting, it's one miserable day we got the tent up everything is getting wet we can't get the stove lit, no supper, every one is miserable finely my wife says we are going to think of three things to praise God about, we sat in silence until my son josh said thank God misquotes only live three days that broke the ice and we rejoiced, went to bed, woke up every thing was wet including sleeping bags, packed everything in the trailer, it's friday were driving down the hi way my wife says she would like to stop and get some more food for setting up when we get back, i said i don't think we should as we have less than $200.00 left, and we have about 1400 miles to go she yelled at me "what did you do with all that money," i said $430.00 for the rad, $200.00 food, camp ground, gas, $100.00 tithe she yelled "you did what", i yelled "shut up" you want to argue than argue with God don't argue with me, so she did, she told God she wasn't going to call our friends back and tell them we had no money left after they had just sent us that money, and she said "God i don't believe you can get us back from here, we figured we would just stop at the rest stops an sleep in the car as all the sleeping stuff was wet, in this part of the U.S. the rest stops are huge, i suppose they could hold 100 buses and 2-300 cars at once, they are also 30 miles apart, we missed the first one we saw around supper time, but we stopped at the next one, we pulled in and stopped, we went up the hill to where they had barbecues for your use, and i started cooking up a large pkg. of about 10 chicken breast, so they wouldn't go bad as we used a cooler and ice, the kids were off playing deb was keeping an eye on them, our little girl was 5 at the time and started playing with a little guy age 4 then at some point the mother calls the little boy hay solomon my wife hears this as it is a unusual name, she talks to the boys mother and finds out they are believers in Jesus at some point the husband joins them, they come over and meet me, i invite them for dinner we had lots of food, he wanted to because he loved meat, and she wouldn't cook it for him, because she was a vegetarian, she left he stayed a couple of minutes as he was leaving he pulled out if his pocket $52.00 and gave it to me saying God wanted me to have it, and his wife was going to write my wife a check that we could cash when we got home, i said thank you and he left, as he and his wife were walking back to there car, God spoke to the two of them individually and told them they were to take us to the border of Canada, when they met back at there car, they both said to each other, "i believe God wants us to take them to the border of Canada, when they agreed, she was free to use the washroom, i'll explain, they parked in front of the washroom it was at the opposite end right close to the exit, she had, had to go to the bathroom for 90 miles he had missed the first two stops this was the third one, they pulled up right in front of the washroom, and she went in, but the toilet bowl was full of flies, this grossed her out, and she wouldn't sit down, so, she was out walking around to relieve the pain, this is how there little boy ended up playing with our little girl, when she went back into the washroom there wasn't a fly in the place, they came back over to where we were, and he said he wanted to put us up in the Holiday Inn for the night, sure sounded good to me, comparison, wet sleeping bags sleeping in the car or Holiday Inn ? i said thank you, we had supper together he enjoyed the meat, the Holiday Inn was full so he put us in the Colonial, just as nice, and right next door, they stayed at the Holiday Inn and took us to breakfast in the Holiday Inn, it sure was nice, he said to me he wanted to put us up again this night which was saturday night, now i felt overwhelmed by all this luxury, we had just come from bible collage living totally on faith, i felt i couldn't handle it , God spoke to me and said " be content in whatever situation I put you in " i said " ok Lord " and i throughly enjoyed myself, instead of writing us a check he took out $ 100.00 on his visa and gave it to me, we stopped to help people along the hi way, and had many opportunities to share Jesus, saturday night the Holiday Inn, sunday we were in Michigan, they wanted to take us to there place, but it was being renovated, they put us into a hotel called the Van- - something, sorry i forgot the name ,( it made the Holiday Inn look like the little brown shack out back,) with a pool side room, wow we walked out of our room right into the pool all carpet, the hotel offered a continental breakfast, which is usually stale donuts and coffee, so he gave me $ 40.00 for breakfast, turned out there continental breakfast was the real thing a smorgasbord of incredible food, sunday noon or so, she came to the hotel, we all went shopping for some groceries, ( they would not allow us to pay for food or lodging, all i was using the money that i had, was for gas, o ya, by the way he had given it to me,) he couldn't come, to the hotel, as he had to go to work, and she drove us to the border, she went back home,we pulled up to the border about 5 p.m.. the border guard says when did you enter the U.S. i said one day, my wife said another, the look on his face said o we got a couple of winners here, and he is writing down something i figured probably our license plate, he says there is a K.O.A. campground just over there why don't you stay there the night, ( i think he wants to check us out, and doesn't want to have to chase us to far, ) but anyways i thought this was a great idea, my wife wanted to get home, it was another 5 hour drive, and i didn't feel like driving it, so i said to her, call back home to our friends and your mother, and see what they say, they both said, your this late, what's the difference, stay another night, so we did, the camp site was a trailer park with 3 huge camping spots, (literally you could park 18 - 20 cars on one sight ), one spot was taken the middle one was empty, and we were in the last spot, the first spot were drinking, and cursing and swearing, i sent the kids over to the playground area so they didn't have to listen to it, about 8:30 P.M. i wanted to go over and witness to them, i couldn't move physically, the Holy spirit held me right in that spot, i tried to move , but to no avail, so i decided to cook supper while deb did the wash, we went to bed around 10 P.M. about midnight we woke up in the middle of a hurricane the wind was blowing completely side ways, the tent was blown up like a ballon, i got Deb and the kids in the car, i went back to the tent ,garbed arm full of sleeping bags and what ever, through the stuff in the trailer, i grabbed some rope to tie the tent to the trailer as we were about to loose the tent to the wind,at this time the park people drove up they didn't get out of the car, but yelled to us, that they would open up the games room so we could sleep on the floor, and left, i looked over at the first camp sight he was holding the center poll of his tent trailer as it was leaving the ground, i grabbed a bunch of rope ran over and helped him tie his tent trailer to his car so he wouldn't loose it, he asked me if i would come back , and pick up his wife and kids after i dropped mine off, his car was immobilized because of tying his tent trailer to the car, i said yes, when i got back to my car, i found out my wife had gone to our trailer, and grabbed the sleeping bags from it, as she knew we would need something to sleep on, i jumped into the car and drove over to his car where his wife and 4 kids were, put them in my car the last little one we shoved on top of the sleeping bags, i drove over to the games room and dropped every one off, then i went over to help him secure his tent trailer a bit better, as we were doing this he used the Lords name in vain, i prayed, silently "Lord i don't want to hear this", we got into my car , i drove to where the women and kids were, they asked us where we had come from, we said bible collage, they never swore again that night, we shared, many of the miracles that God had done for us, about 3 A.M the storm died down, him and i went for a drive, we found a coffee shop open i asked how much for a dozen, she said $5.70 my heart sank, then she said oh no, it's after midnight there only $1.70 i said give me 2 dozen, drove back the kids loved it hot chocolate and donuts at 4 in the morning, we got about 2 hours sleep, as it's hard to sleep on concrete floor, or the pool table, we left shortly after 6 A.M. i drove the 401 towards toronto and went off every exit for forty miles, before finding a gas station with power to pump gas, i seen half a roof blown off a house, i also saw a huge maple tree blown over with roots exposed, we got gas, arrived home monday, and had money in my pocket, not bad what God can do with $400.00, p.s. in the camp ground our families were the only ones effected, i always say the best bart of the trip was the hurricane because The Holy Spirit had a message for them, and used us, Thank You Jesus, and all praise and glory goes to you
