All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Last night I had a dinner discussion with 2 people.  One who believes that religion is a way to control the masses and the other who is a theologian.  Weird as it was, these two truly believed their words.  The theologian claimed that the most peaceful religion on earth was the buddhist religion and the other that claimed that  they just didn't know about the afterlife, but went on to say that there might be, just that they weren't convinced.

I know what my response was....but I'm interested as to what yours would be?

I also might add that the theologian was raised by Christian parents, but stood against everything in the Bible  What do you say to someone who seems thoroughly educated in the way of religion/christianity?

LOL, Tammy.....you are so good, always make me smile and laugh! :)

This interaction was....I don't know, kind of unfamiliar to me.  I am not surrounded by like minded people nor have ever always been, but the difference here was after they began the conversation it went as just that.  As soon as I stated my beliefs and why I believed that way, I felt like an assault was going on.....kind of like a ping pong, if that makes any sense.  When one started in, then I would answer and then again the second one started in trying to dismantle my faith in Jesus, it was non-stop.  It was just so surreal to me, the one started smiling and nodding when one of them thought they had taken me down so to speak for the final hit.

I must tell you tho, since then, the athiest did talk to me a couple of days afterwards and mentioned the conversation and how we probably shouldn't discuss religion or politics anymore at dinner and I responded that I was very surprised at the tone that the conversation had taken once I entered into it.  They again surprised me and said that they thought a lot about that conversation and expressed to me that they were very sorry for that and apologized to me.  So who knows?.....God does.....and I will always remain hopeful.

These replies have left me encouraged and through that encouragement the Lord is letting me know His grace is truly sufficient.

Glad that they seen they were jerks. lol

LOL, Stop it!! LOL

The theologian was in town for only one night and was the guest, thus the dinner party.

I wasn't prepared, I know it, it was kind of like being blindsided or flanked.  This was a very good lesson for me.

When the Word of God comes know that there will be a test for Satan seeks to pluck that Word from your Heart. When Jesus was baptized and came up out of the water the Holy Spirit came and dwelt on Him and the voice of the Father was heard in the Earth and said"This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.". And the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to be tested. What was Satan's opening, If you are the Son of God.... Jesus just received that word from His Father and now Satan is trying to steal it by unbelief. The question Satan was really asking was "Do you believe the word or do you have to test the validity of it by trying to show me and (yourself)" by following my suggestion thus surreptitiously obeying me, thus bowing His knee to Satan. Jesus through the guidance of the Holy Spirit defeated Satan's attempts. There tests in our life that are orchestrated by God to show us what He has done in us to give us confidence in who He is in us. Tests are not easy but necessary. Praise God that He wants us to see that He is working on us and for us to mature. Do not feel inadequate for did not He say think not what you will say in that hour but open your mouth and I will fill it?
