All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I was wondering because I hear people say that as christians we should believe for things we need, such as a miracle healing, but other times people say that we should rely solely on God's will and not our own. Also, in the book of Job, the Lord says that Job's suffering is not due to sin and should not be looked at as punishment; however, there is no tangible explanation as to why Job suffered for so long. I also think about the idea that everywhere Jesus went, He healed the sick, thus indicating that His will is to heal all who call upon him to do so. But then, why do so many christians still suffer? Do they not believe strongly enough that God will heal them? Or is it just not God's intention or will to heal them? Is believing for a miracle healing a sign of admirable faith, which God will reward, or is it diminishing to the Lord's honor because we expect something from Him that is based on our own desire?

Thats a real tough one Ginny, I just looked up 1 corintians 12:29 do all work mirricals?, and Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders with various mirricals and gifts of the holy spitit according to he's own will. we could go on to say what ever you ask in my name will be given, it's a difficult one to answer Ginny being a learned Christian my self, I just trust God and persever, and believe so hard that he will do what he say's and have seen mirricals happen, is it that we have little faith, is it that we dont trust him enough at times, I no he knows us better than we know ourselfs, who are we, I'm humbled in his presents, and persever in as much faith and trust as i can muster, the rest is up to God, He says some where something like, I have favour on whom i want to have favour, and our ways are not Gods ways and he's ways are not ours..love always persevers Ginny, hope that makes a little sence, lov ya sis..Paul
Hi Ginny,

It seems that you may have a few different questions that you are addressing here.

Firstly you mention about miracle healings... God has his reasons for healings. None of us can understand His ways. I think the important thing to focus on is getting to know HIM.. in all His Sovereignty.. Know Him and His Grace, and that will be sufficient.

Regarding Job....
Job was given over to Satan to display God's Power and Glory and faithfulness, and also to demonstrate the true faithfullness of a true believer.

Job 1:8-12

Job 1:8 Then the LORD asked Satan, "Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth--a man of complete integrity. He fears God and will have nothing to do with evil."

Job 1:9 Satan replied to the LORD, "Yes, Job fears God, but not without good reason!

Job 1:10 You have always protected him and his home and his property from harm. You have made him prosperous in everything he does. Look how rich he is!

Job 1:11 But take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!"

Job 1:12 "All right, you may test him," the LORD said to Satan. "Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don't harm him physically." So Satan left the LORD's presence.

We are not protected from calamaties simply due to our faith... As a matter of fact, those trials are intended to strengthen us and to learn to depend on God for everything, and to coninually trust in Him.

To believe we are not to have trials, and that life will go smoothly--with riches etc..... simply promotes a false belief known as 'The Prosperity Gospel'.

We are handed over to Satan... It is not God who causes bad things to happen. He will allow it, and He will work all things together for good..

Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

Luk 22:28 You have remained true to me in my time of trial.
Luk 22:29 And just as my Father has granted me a Kingdom, I now grant you the right
Luk 22:30 to eat and drink at my table in that Kingdom. And you will sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Luk 22:31 "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have all of you, to sift you like wheat.
Luk 22:32 But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen and build up your brothers."

Mat 13:25 But that night as everyone slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat.
Mat 13:26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.
Mat 13:27 The farmer's servants came and told him, `Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds!'
Mat 13:28 " `An enemy has done it!' the farmer exclaimed. " `Shall we pull out the weeds?' they asked.
Mat 13:29 "He replied, `No, you'll hurt the wheat if you do.
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds and burn them and to put the wheat in the barn.' "

Mat 13:39 The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels.

Jesus prays for us and has promised to not loose even one of us....

Jhn 6:35 Jesus replied, "I am the bread of life. No one who comes to me will ever be hungry again. Those who believe in me will never thirst.
Jhn 6:36 But you haven't believed in me even though you have seen me.
Jhn 6:37 However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.
Jhn 6:38 For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what I want.
Jhn 6:39 And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them to eternal life at the last day.
Jhn 6:40 For it is my Father's will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life--that I should raise them at the last day."

He prays for us...future believers... THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL--PRAISE GOD!
Jhn 17:20 "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me because of their testimony.
Jhn 17:21 My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father--that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me.
Jhn 17:22 "I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are--
Jhn 17:23 I in them and you in me, all being perfected into one. Then the world will know that you sent me and will understand that you love them as much as you love me.
Jhn 17:24 Father, I want these whom you've given me to be with me, so they can see my glory. You gave me the glory because you loved me even before the world began!
Jhn 17:25 "O righteous Father, the world doesn't know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.
Jhn 17:26 And I have revealed you to them and will keep on revealing you. I will do this so that your love for me may be in them and I in them."

We will be tested, We will have trails. We will be strengthened in them as we TRUST in the Lord and call on Him continually. As we wait on the Lord we will, run, walk and soar...

Isa 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Blessings, Carla
Ginny, I think that you have a humble honest question,,,,and without writing a manuscript I'd like to quickly give you some food for thought. First as people quote verses from all over the bible you need to understand that there are different dispensations or "administrations" in the bible,,,,,,, we today live in the administration of Grace,,,,,,,very different from those "under the Law" throughout most of the old testament Under grace (a good lay definition being unmerited favor from God,,,,,,, we didn't earn it,,,, and don't deserve it) God has put His "Spirit" within us as part of the gift of salvation for "accepting" Jesus Christ as our Lord ,,,,the born again experience., by contrast,,, those under "the Law" in most of the old testament had Spirit "upon" them on a condition only basis. The bible clearly refers to us as "sons of God" in the Grace administration. Again,,, this is all a gift for accepting the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. I think that we just scratch the surface when it comes to healing,,,,,,,,, no where are we promised a perfect life all the time because we are in grace,,, it's obvious that the early church suffered persecution, but they trusted God to get them through. Also, note nowhere are we told not to believe for healing,,,, quite the contrary ,,,, God's Word says "they signs shall follow those who believe",,,,, so I don't see that there is a question of God's will being to heal us or not. I've prayed for people and saw instant healing,,,,,,, and I've prayed for people, and it seemed it was a real struggle to reach the victory. So the "whys" of how some people do,,,,, and some people don't is hard to put a finger on. About 60 years ago in England there was a man named Smith Wigglesworth who God called into the ministry when he was 49yrs old,,,,,,,, it's amazing reading about this simple man's faith and the results of his bold determination to "only believe".. This man was known to pray over someone who had just died for 15 hours straight,,,,,,,, and the deceased rose from the dead! I've came to the conclusion that faith is like a muscle,,, in that it is something that we develop through trial and error, and that's not to say that God doesnt sometimes supercede our meager faith and simply heal someone out of His grace and love.
All praise and honor to JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, see He said that we will do the things HE did and even greater things. The things Christians are passing through are not because they have lesser faith or the sort, THE LORD GOD LETS IT TO HAPPEN FOR HIS GLORY AND WHEN WE OVERCOME ALL THIS, SURELY WE WILL BE TAKING THE WAY CHRIST JESUS TOOK.
Hi Ginnybee
lets go water walking, you say what ! i say but Peter did, ok, but does that mean all christians should walk on water, the answer is yes and no, let me explain, there are 12 guys in a boat, and here comes Jesus walking on the water to meet them, now they were freaked out, i am sure, Peter says Lord if that is you tell me to come to you, the lord says come, Peter an unschooled fisherman knows the Lords voice, therefore he steps out of the boat, and walks on water how far it doesn't say, perhaps a mile or two, as voice carries a long way over water, now i figure the others were holding on to the sides of the boat white knuckled for fear that Jesus or Peter might tell them to come, (that's just my opinion.), But why is this in scripture, we don't see men of faith walking on water today, i believe the story is there for us, showing us, God is the God of the impossible, but the key is 2 fold first, listening for the Lords voice, second, obeying his voice, so walking on water takes on different aspects for us, God is not in the business of exhibitionism, Peters heart was in the right place, before i come to know Jesus, i tried to quit smoking, i was smoking 3 pkgs.. a day, and coughing up blood, everything i tried didn't work including nicoban gum i smoked with it, i was at some peoples house and the only one smoking, i put 12 in the ash tray in 2 hours, i was hearing that Jesus was God, was real, was alive, and had power, i did not believe it but left there, and said God if your real take this smoking habit away from me, instantly he did, the next week He got me into a church, i heard the message asked Jesus to come into my heart forgive me, he did, and He took the guilt of my sin away, the next week spoke to me and said poor my alcohol down the sink i dumped out about $100.00 worth He set me free even the urge to drink gone, my next stage of alcoholism would have been boot polish or after shave lotion as i was drinking my self sober and functioning blacked out, but now on to healing, the church i was in, did not believe in miracles, or healing' the paster was a born again believer, and maybe 1/4 of the church, knew Jesus, but to the rest it was a religion, and they kept tight control on what was taught, example tithing was good, but don't dare lift your hands unto the Lord, now to what happened there was a fellow who was twisted up like a pretzel because of Siberia palsy, he got around very slowly with a walker, and used a board with letters, pointing to each letter to talk, but he wasn't stupid he was studding university corse, it just took him a lot longer, one sunday ,( i was about a year old in the Lord ) this fellow wanted to go visit his mother in Niagara falls about an hour away, myself and my friend Randy had nothing to do so we said we would take him, it took 2 people to get him in and out of a van safely, as we were driving about 1/2 way there, God spoke to Randy and myself individually and we were to pray for this fellow to be heeled we did, we were 100% sure God was going to heel him, we prayed, but after about a minuet, it felt like forever, we said what's wrong he said he wasn't ready to become normal, for him he functioned quite well in that condition, all his furniture etc. was specially designed for his condition, for me this did two things, one, it made it hard for me to believe for healing, for many years, and sometimes i still struggle, even though i have seen God heal me, and others, miraculously, and i have seen him send me to a doctor, two, it made me sad when i think if this person had excepted what God wanted to do for him, that whole church would have probably turned to Jesus, but don't judge him were not in his shoes, he still attends that church, faithfully, i talk from time to time with him and try to bring him an encouraging word, another story of heeling that didn't happen was Joni Erickson she and others prayed for a heeling, she is a paraplegic, God chose not to heel her she today in that condition, an incredible ministry reaching thousands you and i could never, in my own life i find when God lets me go through suffering, weather my fault or not, at the end of it GOD has those who need to here how God brought me through, it makes it all worth it, job suffered look what God did for Job in the end, the devil wanted to destroy Job, God knew he would pass the test, and he did, oh if only i could stand that strong, i do believe in miracles, i have seen quite few, i'll give you a short one as it is getting late, here goes, i was in bible collage in Alberta near Calgary, my wife, kids, and i, went north about 5 hours with some missionary friends, to visit her sister on a farm, after a fun day we were about to leave when the sister called my wife and my self aside to a freezer in a shed, she gave us a roast that was 16" across, that is from side to side which ever direction you measured it as it was round, and 5 " deep, i had never seen a roast that big 'nor have i seen one since, my wife and i were discussing what on earth we were going to do with it, our best solution cook it up and cut it into small roast and refreeze them, we get home i get a phone call from a friend, he was in bible collage with me and on the weekends he did evangelism from a church on the black foot indian reserve, he said he had invited 31 to his place next sunday for lunch, i said what are you going to feed them, he said a we'll just through another potato in the pot, sounded some what reasonable considering they had 9 in there family, i said no, God provided and told him about the roast, we had 6 in our family, the roast fed all 46 of us, and everyone ate as much as they wanted, and there was some left over, also at the time of receiving the large roast we also recieved a normal size deer roast, the next sunday my wife and i had a person coming out to talk to us about joining there mission, my wife apologized to him because all we had was a deer roast, it turned out his favorite meat was deer, i hope this helps sis, when you here Gods voice just obey, and we'll go water walking, P. S. don't listen to any voice that says you can't hear Gods voice, you can he created the mouth and the ear and our ears are for hearing.

When God performs something in one's life, I don't know if miracle is the right word. Because, it isn't anything extraordinary for Him, but it is extremely extraordinary for us.

Currently I am praying for my husband to be healed of Stage 4 lung cancer. The doctors say that isn't going to happen. But, when God does heal him, it will be the response of something that was promised to me in His Word. Makes one wonder why we consider it a miracle.

I think we all need to strive to believe His promises and ask for a healing for our belief. Wouldn't that be great?!? Being able to believe all He has told us He would do instead of wondering if He really meant all He promises? I know my husband's doctors probably think I am crazy, but I am able to have joy in the midst of this trial because of God's promise to me, that everything I ask in Jesus' Name will be done for me.

Blessings to you in the name of Jesus...
Rita
I've tried to add this but Satan didn't want it added so i will start afresh.

Give no grounds to Satan. When he steps in to disrupt your belief, send him packing.

More blessings to you,
Rita
As it was with Abraham, who against hope, believed in hope...........according to that which was spoken.and written,.....Rom. 4:18

2 Corinthians 1:20-21 (KJV)
20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
I stand in agreement with you Rita.
