How does a person go to church when...
What do those who have trouble around crowds do (say those with autism) if they want to have fellowship but a church seems like too much with so many people?
How can a person function at church properly when it's really difficult to function when there's alot of people together?

You find a small healthy loving group, maybe a house church, to be a part of. It is not healthy to not be a part of a local family of believers. There are so many positive reasons to connect.

Tough one. I've always used my sarcastic humor to put up that wall of being comfortable around crowds.

LT,I don't know of any house churches near by.
Tammy, it'd be hard for me to use humor. Being around alot of people...all of the noise and chatter,all the faces-it'd be like everything wouls be coming all at once at me. It would make my anxiety much worse.
Another thing I should point out. I've been to a church (years ago). The singing, and the clapping and moving around. I can't keep up with it. Probably with 3 or 4 people but not a whole lot.

Well girl, I don't know what to tell you at this point. I'm sure others have great suggestions. I've been in church all my life. The humor is something I use period for crowds. Not always church. My brother is the exact same way & he's the pastor of the church.

The house church was one option. I am sure you can find a small church in your area or a church that has home or cell groups. The key was based on what I understood you to say is to find a small group rather than a large one.

And some people find more comfort in the large churches because you can get lost. The home churches can bring big focus on you which doesn't seem to be your desire. It's a give & take with either. To be joined together with other believers means that, to joined "together". It's according to how much of "together" you're comfortable with.

Your brother is nervous around crowds yet is a pastor? Wow, God surely is using 2 Corinth. 12:9 with him!
I only was in that church until April of 08 to if I remember correctly Oct. or Nov. of 08.
I think I may have a flash back of people I know being in a church. And, I think I remember when I was really little being in a church with my aunt on my dad's side. It may have only been once though.

The few times I've spoken with you in chat, I'd have never thought you were so introverted. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed seeing how other services worship esp outside the US. You are outside the US, right?

I found the website to the church that's close by. Is it against AAG to post a link? I'm not sure about all of their beliefs. It's complicated. I'd like to ask about their beliefs but I'm not sure if I'm allowed on here.
