All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I have major trust issues and really want to know what do I do when my trust has been betrayed. Because of this I am battling really hard not to retreat to the old self where it is safe. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34)

Mischelle, we all betrayed God's trust in us from the beginning of time. We all have sinned and fell short of the glory of God, and what did Jesus do and say in response to our wickedness: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.
I would encourage you to search the scriptures on forgiveness and godly wisdom in this matter. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and guide you on what to do. You will not go wrong, when you forgive, love and bless the one who hurted you, and pray for this person sincerely and leave him or her in God merciful hands. Keep on forgiving, this means not saying anything bad about them but rather tell it to God instead. God will defend you and put love in your heart for them when you in your own abilities can not love.

I appreciate so much the verses you have shared LB and all you wrote here especially proverbs 26:27. even though Mischelle, you are not the one who cause the hurt but actually you are the one who is hurt, you will suffer tremendously by holding on to the injustice others have done to you.
I would love to encourage you so much to sit on a chair, push another chair in front of you, pretend there is your enemy sitting there, tell this person who hurt you exactly how you feel, but don't leave till you end it with saying that you are forgiving them because of Christ, because He has forgiven you of all your sins. After that, talk to God, tell Him exactly how you feel, then tell Him for His sake and because of Him you want to forgive, you want peace and joy, you don't want this hurt to stand between you and Christ and people who God has created in His image.
Follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, follow the voice of God, let peace guide you, and the only way for any of us to have peace is by keeping our minds and hearts on God and not people.
The bible says in Isaiah 26:3 that God will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.
