6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day,

Michael,

Check out this discussion: Welcome to the world of hipster Christianity.

We touched a bit on the subject you are bringing up.

I love cloth; I could spend the whole day shopping. PLEASE do not tell anyone, but one of my dreams is to have a walk in closet, I know is pathetic, I know, but I love cloth. But of course not above the word, not even anywhere near close or even in the competition, but I bring it up because very Godly people can have a thing for fashion or even be fashion designers, but I understand you are referring to those who their priority is style and not the word. Well I would say that we all have strengths and weaknesses and for some people in Christ that may be a weakness (concerned for style), so we have to be loving and trust that as we continue to teach by our example the Spirit will work conviction in their lives.

Many Christian hipsters would like to believe that their faith has mostly to do with their beliefs and their actions, but that it doesn’t have much at all to do with how they look. But I think we have to consider that our “look” does matter, because—for good or ill—it does communicate things.
The article goes on to say many other worth reading things, so check it out at:

Blessings bro.
I read an article that says God look at the heart and not the outward man. Pls speak more on this before i share my view with you.
Hey Mike,

About the comment you brought up of how God looks at the heart and not the outward man that is absolutely true. God is not concerned with out ward appearances to choose to save them if they Repent and believe. However the Spirit of God goes to work in our lives with the process of sanctification and He lets us know what acceptable aparrel is and what is not.

But what good is it if we look great on the outside and we are full of dead bones in the inside.

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. New International Version (©1984) Matthew 23:27

Blessings bro.
Most times is what is inside that comes out. Even if the out is innocent, what about those around that are watching you, Do you want them to lust after you because you are bringing the spirit of competition in the world of fashion. sorry Women are mostly affected in this aspect. They want to outdo each other and resulted in lust. Lust of the flesh in not only fornication but could be buying something just to satisfy the flesheven going to borrow to do it. Bless you Bro david
Michael,

You might find this interesting viewing as well:

This is great, love it very much. I wish to show this to my friends and other believers.
Fashion is a big concern these days. I was confronted with this one morning while in 'quiet time'. It was interesting because my thoughts were not initially going in this direction, but here is a copy of most of what I wrote that morning.

The more I read Psalms 119 and Proverbs, I realize how differently God views the righteous and the wicked. And sometimes I look at some Christians and see how corny or not appealing they look, but whose standard am I judging them on? I don't want to say I'm judging them, but when I look at them, who am I comparing them to? The world....God's ways are not the world's ways. God would have us to decrease so that He can increase. He is not interested so much in our physical appeal to people, rather our spiritual connection to Him and our love for others. God emphasizes the things of the Spirit, the world focuses on the physical or flesh. God doesn't want the two meshing. He wants all of you in Him which produces a love for Him and yourself which transforms you into the person that God created you to be. Not appealing to the world through physical appeal, but a spiritual awakening of the truth. In 1 Pet 3:3-4, Peter instructs the wives to "not let the outward adorning of plaited hair or gold jewlrey or nice clothes [be your mark of holiness], but let it be the hidden man of the heart in that which is not corruptible...of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price." Not in the sight of the world whose value in women is based on how they look, their sex appeal. It is the total opposite. Learn and emphasize that which is pleasing to God. His love is unconditional. The world's love is fickle and fleeting, unstable and unpredictable.

We are in the world not of the world. The world and it's lusts will pass away but God's word will never pass away.

God Bless.
Well your contribution is fantastic but don't you think that most time what you have inside manifest outside. Though your dressing could be good to you but have you considered other people around you. Pls we should not allow poeple faith to fall all in the name of fashion. Looking good is not necessarily buying expensive things so as creat way for competition. I think moderation should be practice. Thanks and God bless
Believe me, its true, fashion as taken over in Christendom, from hats, and hairstyles to shoes on the feet. Mark you, I'm not saying that Christians should not dress good and look good, but, somethings we wear does not become us as Christians. I am a person who likes to be comfortable in my clothing, I like to be able to move freely and feel free at the same time, so, I wear nothing tight or too tight, and nothing to expose me. I look on my T Shirts before I buy them, I must know the kinds of pictures or patterns or even words written on them. The Bile tells us that the Holy Spirit is our teacher and so I listen clearly to him when I get dressed. As a Missionary in my church, I fall in many categories of work, so, some times I get dressed for Church on a Sunday morning and the Spirit tells me to take off those clothes. Nothing may be wrong with the clothes but God wants me to do something that day, and the clothes I choose to wear is not fitting for that. Sounds strange doesn't it? but its true, and it happens a lot to me. Sometimes I'm going out to preach and the spirit tells me what dress, hat or shoes to wear. I do enjoy when this happens because I know that God is going to do something great. I pray that as Christians we begin to sober up and dress modestly, both male and female. God bless you all.
Back when I first became rededicated to the Lord and was attending church some ways from home, I was getting ready to dress for church and the Holy Spirit laid it on my heart that i was not attired properly for services. I changed my clothes and never wore that particular outfit again.

I think God does care whether you look foolish in the eyes of your brothers and sisters, and you should be ever conscious of NOT OFFENDING anyone.

Blessings,
Rita
My boy Grazer,

I am with you up to a point. My previous life included gang banging (shaved head) and also long hair rocker. Both were expressions of I do not give a dime what you think or what you say. If you get on my grill about it, you got another thing coming. I grew up blasting breaking the law by Judas Priest, Mother by Danzig and how can I just kill a man by Cypress Hill, I loved it when I was dressed in all black with my "locs"and black LA hat. People would generally change sidewalks when they saw me coming with my hommies. Man that felt cool. Yes I was very, very stupid and lost.

All that said to say - I totally understand the I do not give a dime who does not like it attitude. Dude it was totally me.

Then one day the Lord Said you Mr. Velasquez you are mine, you belong to me know son.

I started my reading on the Gospel of John continued on, loving it man, totally rejoicing in the word and then I hit Romans 14, Wow!!! Wait a minute, what-what??? Are you serious Lord? Ok check it out, you already told me to let go of all kinds of things. You even told me who I can have sex with and who I cannot with and when I can get busy. Now you are telling me that I should : 1 Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. 2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand. 5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

14 I am convinced, being fully persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for that person it is unclean. 15 If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy someone for whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, 18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.

21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall.

When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 1 Corinthians 13:11

Wow!!! Dude the Lord was telling me through these verses, Son love people sacrificially. Die to self and the world. if your brother who is weaker in the faith is worked up about you wearing that sure or eating that food. Don't be a stumblling rock for Him, love him enough and do it for me, obey me and let that God, at least before him for his sake.

Man bro that was hard, cause not caring what people thought about me was HUGE IN MY LIFE. I started to work as an accountant because accountants are left alone and I could go do my job and get out like if I wasn't even there. Work buddies. Reputation or keeping up face never meant anything to me; I could care less what you thought about me. But Romans 14-15, 1 Cor. 13 and Philippians 2: 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature[a] God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature[b] of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

Yes! We cannot please everyone, that is for sure, and we must learn that not all people are gonna love us and we need to be ok with that, but as much as it's up to us, we are to strive to live in peace with our family in Christ and all humanity for that matter.

All that to say - Change dude whenever something is offensive to our family or it hurts the cause of the Gospel, change for God.

Love to you wild man.

Blessings.
Coolio. :)
