All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

There are a number of factors that cause this schism in the body of Christ. Lets look at some and I hope others will chime in. Before we start let's understand a couple of things first. We may disagree on certain things and yet both be saved. Also if we disagree on a subject we both cannot be 100% right and in fact we both could be wrong.

Here are some of the areas that cause division:

1) Allegoric intrepretive method vs. literal interpretive method.

2) Fundemental view vs. liberal view.

3) Lone ranger Christian vs local body connected Chrsitian.

4) Various views regarding the gifts of the Spirit.

5) Predestination vs freewill and degrees inbetween.

Why do I point this out? It has been my experience that when two people who approach God's word in love with Jesus, but differ in their approach they will debate each other until they are blue in the face, or fingers are tired of typing. They just can't seem to understand why the other does not see it their way. Often the problem is not in the presentation, but due to their "fundemental" differences regarding God's Word before the debate even began. Numbers 1 & 2 above play a major role in people's understanding of God's Word even if they do not understand what those words mean or are willing to acknowledge where they stand. Some will argue that I will not be put into a box ... well welcome to # 3 my friend and you can guess which one you just displayed if that is your type of response.

This is simply a food for thought as I was wondering if people have even considered the root of the differences. What other areas cause differences that we need to be aware? We need to be aware so that we can respond to our brothers and sisters in love and with understanding knowing that we will disagree on some things.

Last thought: People wonder why there are so many different denominations today. Look around, even here on AAG, and you will see a very diverese group that cannot agree 100% together on everything. People tend to gather with "like-minded" people.

This is taken from Dr Charles Stanley's book, "Finding Peace"

Throughout Christendom, sadly, there are many, diverse denominations, churches, and fractions. Often, these divisions have occured because somewhere in the history of the movement some of the key players disagreed on the interpretation of the Scriptures or on some theological issue. Some of these differences were totally unnecessary. All Christians do not need to believe exactly the same thing about all passages in the bible. There are some subjects that are impossible for us to reach agreement about because there's no way of proving one particular idea or perspective is the correct one.

Should such theological disagreements divide the body of Christ? Absolutely not. There is so much that needs to be done to teach others about His plan for their lives. We need to lay down any doctrinal differences that keep us from working together toward that end. What brings us together is the message that Jesus offers salvation to all who believe in Him.

(Now, this is my own humble experiences, lol, so many times, I see Christians get caught in back and forth disagreements about scriptures and can not help but wonder if Jesus is in it or if He is even on their minds at the moment, this is just my thought on the subject).

I guess that I am the *3. Lone Ranger type.* As I study the Bible, the Holy Spirit leads me in the understanding of what I need to learn at this moment. I don't allow myself to be swayed in the understanding He has given me UNTIL I can *see* deeper into the topic through the Word. When the Holy Spirit allows me to accept it, I will. I guess what I am also trying to say is the older I get, the less I know!

Blessings!

Greetings all,

I have removed all of the posts that took place last night (7/12) that had left the topic and drifted into the area of personal issues between a few people.

Lord Bless,

Hi, LT.
Sorry you chose to do that. There were personality clashes, in fun and great info from both Rod and David.
Rita
Hey Rita,

There was a whole lot more to it than that. It took place over night and was not edifying to the body to leave it up. Some good info did get erased because it was attached to the ugly stuff that needed to be taken down.

LT,

I pray for reconciliation. I pray that all will be back. I miss them.Thank you for being there. In the end Christ will be lifted up and the enemy will be defeated. I am praying that God will enlarge this great ministry. Amen. Are you the founder of AAG? Since I am new, I have looked for history but haven't seen it.

Roy
Hey Roy,

God always wins. I am just a volunteer here on AAG. I pastor a church plant in Florida.

AAG was started as an offshoot from the ministry of allaboutgod.com ( www.allaboutgod.com ). If you go to their website I believe there is some info regarding its beginnings and the testimony from Greg Outlaw, the main person beyond AAG's inception. Here on AAG (net) the main person is Greg, the Net Coordinator. He is directly affiliated with AAG.

Hope that helps a little.

We are glad you are here.

Lord Bless,
LT
