I have several gay family members. And I try to voice my thoughts about this.I think that it is a sin,that it is wrong and it wasnt part of God's plan for us. Am I wrong?
Where do I find where GOD talks about gays and where he destroyed Sodem and Gamora? I do not know my bible quite well yet, I am still reading and learning.

Answer: The Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9 proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of God.

God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin (Romans 1:24-27) and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it right for him to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true with homosexuality.

However, the Bible does not describe homosexuality as a “greater” sin than any other. All sin is offensive to God. Homosexuality is just one of the many things listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 that will keep a person from the kingdom of God. According to the Bible, God’s forgiveness is just as available to a homosexual as it is to an adulterer, idol worshipper, murderer, thief, etc. God also promises the strength for victory over sin, including homosexuality, to all those who will believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation (1 Corinthians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Philippians 4:13).

What's been pointed out here in this thread is what Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Fundamentalist-leaning Evangelical Protestants would identify with.

Several progressive mainline Protestant Christian traditions (such as Episcopal, Methodist, and Presbyterian) however differ in interpretations.

I find the variance of exegesis (or maybe eisegesis???) fascinating.
On this network, unlike mainline Protestant traditions, we believe that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired, authoritative word of God.
Homosexuality is a sickness and according to the Word, some are born into the flesh with this sickness (Matthew 19:12 ) because of their spiritual ways before birth (suggest earth ages study).(Others are made that way by men and others become that way). God tells us they have such lusts because they do not like to retain God in their knowledge and when they knew of the truth they did not walk in it. ***Rom.1:21-32 ***

It is a sin. It is not the unpardonable sin but again it is in many cases an effect of a rebellious spirit which can be compared to the unpardonable sin! However, (again) some become this way through perverted surroundings and happenings (in their youth). The word does exspress that one can be washed clean of such spiritualy but if they are not, they will not inherit the promise. However the final judgement comes at the end of the Lord's day and those who dont take part in the 1st resurrection will either take part in the 2nd resurrection or second death at the end of the Lord's day. Durring the Lord's day they will be free from temptations of the flesh and after a period of discipline they will make their final choice. So again we cant judge an individual. If one defines themselves as homosexual or bisexual they are living in sin and not in good standing.
All sin. We are to share the option of repentance and salvation to all who are interested. We are NOT to enable sin. Yet many in the name of love and tolerance show how un-learned they are in God's Word when they enable homosexual acts.
God is Love and no sane person can use the context of Love to enable such a sickness. Sexuality has nothing to do with love but everything to do with physical attraction and or Lust.

During times of the new covenant (There would be no grace without the law/ Grace= unmerited favor) I do feel disfellowship (Matt. 18:15-20 / compare with Deut. 19:15-21; 17:2-13) replaces captial punishment (Leviticus 20:13) when it comes to effects of homosexual actions.

For "Christians" to enable another to transgress God's law (to sin) is to partake in their evil deeds.- 2 John 1:10-11/ If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Spiritual Discernment is differ than Judgement and is a gift all that walk with the Holy Spirit are given (they are able to recognize the fruits of both the wheat and the tares). One can forgive another without haveing to surround themselves with that one. Christ gathered with sinners who had interest and respect for the Word and thus we are to mark those who do not.

One should love even their enemies and Family is Very important. The statistics of suicides amoung homosexuals are high, and a Christian is concerned for all and hope all grow closer to God. We are taught many tactics and virtues in God's Word / Examples: Spiritual discernment, Rebuke, patience and so on... but Love is above all these and is to be used with all these. Some perhaps haven't read how Love is used with rebuke and spiritual discernment which is another study that perhaps needs to be touched on here. But the point is to "Hate the sin not the sinner."

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.I personally wouldn't attend a same sex marriage ceremony, cause to do so would be showing support to those who pleadge to sin.
(I once put this forth only to have someone say, "would you attend a marriage of someone who has once been divorced" / The responce to such should be in the context of God's Word as well. Each person is to have an individual relationship with God. We don't know if one has repented of past transgressions or not but if they have a Christian is to know that they are forgiven and it isn't our place to judge!) Again a same sex marriage is a unclean pleadge to live rebelious to God's Word and one interested in keeping a ongoing relationship with God should never support such.

Again we are told why some are born with such unclean lusts and woe to anyone who claims to know such is unclean yet blames God for such a sickness. Such people are in need of more understanding.
To anyone seeking Spiritual growth and yet finds them selves blaming God for anything desperatly needs to consider Jer.23 and mainly note the effects of such in verses 39-40

Do note the unpardonable sin though! This sickness is found on a thin line close to it and amoung those who have been known to deny the Holy Spirit. We feed the Spirit with God's Word (Christ)! Yeshua Christ is the Light and The way. To not embrace and partake of the sacrifice one is embraceing death (Heb.2:14).

I didn't understand how being a homosexual referred to Matthew 19:12 because it talks about eunuchs which are man whose sex organs been removed. Was it suppose be an example of how you can be born a certain way or learn certain things by being around people? Also can you explain what you meant when you said "During the Lord's day they will be free from temptations of the flesh and after a period of discipline they will make their final choice". Also I wanted to know your option of gay rights and gay adoption because even though I don't believe in it my coworker told me that was discrimination and even though you was to feel like that it was wrong because just like God gave us the right of free will so should they.

OK, totally apart from Levitical law and if you want to stick with just the New Testament. There is not much ambiguity in Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, and 1 Timothy 1:9-10.

A first key principle of Biblical interpretation is that you read it normally and take what it says at face value. The total weight of Biblical evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that homosexual behavior is sin just as greed, adultery, gluttony, gossip or any number of other sins.
Just as gluttony?

Approximately 10% of Americans are gay.

Approximately 67% of Americans are overweight, 34% obsese.

There seem to be sermon opportunities going unmissed.

Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

No exegetical method in the Universe can do away with the obvious disapproval of homosexuality in the bible, the theologians teaching such blatant distortions ought to stop serving Satan and read their bibles instead of finding ways to justify their sin.

You make a good point with the fact that preachers seldom preach about gluttony, but there is a reason for that. People who are overweight do not try to push their agenda on the world as the homosexual community does. Those of us who stand for the truth and preach it know that sins vary in depravity, yet a sin is a transgression against God's commandments as any other sin is. However that does not mean they are the same.

If we think about committing adultery or killing a person, we have sin, but is not the same as actually killing a person or committing adultery.

For the gay community is not enough to sin, but they want to indoctrinate society with their believes and way of life. This is why the Christian community that is not dancing to these new interpretations of scripture remains ready to face the consequences for preaching the truth.

Historically homosexuality has never been accepted inside or outside the church. Would we walk up to a male lion or any other animal in the world and ask them what sexual preference they are inclined to? No way, never, why because it’s obvious, males are created for females.

We want the alcoholic, drug addict, homosexuals to come to the knowledge of Christ, so they can be free from the sin that in slaves them.

It sure is good to see you here sharing and standing up for the truth, it truly is a beautiful thing when we, the body. The members of the church fellowship, beautiful things happened.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone else out there to seek fellowship in a local church. Ok enough commercials. haha

You are absolutely correct, for your interpretation of the verse is the correct one. Sin is disobedience to God. Any thought, word, or deed contrary to God's law is sin. I was not trying to diminish the reality of the sin of the mind, but noting the difference between thinking of killing someone versus actually killing someone. In both cases we have sin, yet we all know that as far as the impact of the one against the other is a great one. The thought of killing or committing adultery or ect... will hurt the person having such thoughts and the ones that surround him. Yet, the impact the thought would have is not equal to the actual act. In the eyes of the Lord we have sin whether by thought or action.

Also I am sure that we have all gotten the following thought: "Well, I already sinned by thinking about committing the sin, so let me go right ahead and commit the sin anyways." When such thought has come into my life the Spirit of the Lord quickly tells me, "Stop Son, don't do it, you would be committing yet another sin if you do and the actual act of the will carries different consequences then the sin of just thinking it.
