All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When I pray I often have difficulty in discerning God's voice.  After a prayer request words come into my head and I'm not sure whether the answers are from God or from inside me.  I'd appreciate any advice on discerning God's voice.

Hi Jane,

I believe that this is a question that comes up for each one of us.
I am assured that I hear God's voice when it is Scripture that He speaks to me. God has also given me dreams which have been an encouragement to me...and occasionally what I like to call a 'gracelet' that was just for me.

Here's is one of them:
One day I was driving in my car...upset and feeling alone--crying out to God. I looked up into the sky and saw a rugged cross in the sky. And the peaceful words spoken to my heart were 'Keep your eyes on Me'...

When we hear God's voice it will lead us to repentence, reassure us that we are forgiven and loved, it will give us His Peace which surpasses all human understanding, and remind us that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us. God's voice will always align with scripture. The Holy Spirit does bring to remembrance the verses that we need when we need them.

If it is something that God wants us to do....then it will likely be a strong impression put on our hearts that is selfless for the benefit of someone else...Ultimately for God's Glory of coarse. God is teaching me to listen to those promptings by His Holy Spirit. Whenever I have been obedient it is Joy unspeakable! I need to be obedient more often.

Joy and Peace to you dear sister in Christ,
Much Love, Carla
Thank you so much Carla. Your prayer and your story (which I have just read) really moved me. Much love in Christ, Jane x
God Bless you Jane.... :)
One principle to follow is to check it against God's Word. He will never contradict Himself. Thus if what you receive is not in alignment with His Word it is not of Him. In that case you can at least eliminate that thought.

Lord Bless,
LT
Thank you Linda. :)
Thank you! :)
God's sheep knows his voice. GOD will not lead you in the wrong path. When HE calls and talks you feel it. It is us sometimes that get in the way of what GOD wants for us. Just know that HIS sheep know his voice.
hmm lets see

God's voice is a calm and loving Father tone kind of voice if that makes sense lol

for example he goes Staceeeeeeeeeey How are yoooouuu my Child lol thats what he says to me lol

one time I got into trouble and it went like this

STACEY very sharp lol ( sowwie daddy, by the way I call God, Daddy)

I call my dad on Earth "Dad" my dad here knows the difference lol

Before you pray loosen up and relax play a song that allows you to be calm and chill :)

slowly now k and breathe in the Father breath out the spirit breathe father and breathe out now listen carefully and tell Jesus to come and wait awhile dont rush k

then let the rush of thoughts flow in

now during this time wait until you hear a voice it should be calm and loving if not then rebuke the voice of negative thought in your head and say hush get back to concentrating then you shall see images and then the images will come with a message

then that is indirectly a prayer in itself with God.

soon you will be very much in tune and you will hear it all the time if you choose to but you should always listen carefully even when you speak try to say things slowing or type carefully with deep thought

eventually things will flow out hopefully

hope this helps :) <3
