All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

If you've ever chosen to come forward publicly to do something in Christ's name : did things start happening which drew your attention away from doing it? What sort of things? Did you do it anyway?

Loren u,r right. But some times such things (weaknesses) happen due to a number of reasons. My intention of brining this question to discussion is to learn from other christian sisters and brothers to cope up with the problem.

There fore, please explain your aswer a little bit more. May our savior Jesus Christ bless you forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bro - welcome to the active world of serving Christ. :)

Yeap- you will get hit like never before once you take a step of faith.

Matthew 14:28-30 (New King James Version)

28 And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
29 So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[a] he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” 31 And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

1. Peter called out/you called out - Use me etc "....if it is You...." We step out of our boats in faith, not 100% sure at times if it’s the Lord who is pushing us to do something. Especially when we are young in Christ, we have yet to learn to recognize and discerned God working in a situation.

2.“...Come.” And when Peter had come..." you responded. Jesus is not going to tell you "NO" don't come to me or don't work for me. He is actually looking for workers for the harvest is plentiful, but the Laborers are few.
So you do not have to pray all year or fast and wait on the Lord to answer you with lighting and thunder when you want to set out to do something for the Kingdom. Yes! We should know our purpose in the body and what our gifts of the Spirit are, but don't over analyze (I am just saying in general, so I am not directing this to you only bro) whether you should step out and evangelize, teach Sunday school, be an usher.... etc. The Lord wants us busy in the Father's business.

3."...to come to You on the water..." New territory for Peter and so for us AS WELL, when we step out of our comfort zone. New territory -NEW CHALLENGES- NEW BATTLES- NEW TEMPTATIONS..

4. "...But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,[a] he was afraid..."hahahaha hahaha I bet Peter was like this is cool, duh!!! What the heck, this is not cool hahaha :)

Satan and his troops do not stand around applauding us, they are allowed to do their thing, so we can mature and see where our heart is at. Trials, temptations etc.. Reveal our heart and maturity level, to ourselves, God already knows what our response will be. "Boisterous" Guess who wrote about how the devil goes around??? Yes!!!! Our boy Peter.
1 Peter 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
So be sober, ABIBE IN THE WORD, PUT ON THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD, THAT YOU MAY STAND. IT IS NOT BY MIGHT NOR POWER, BUT BY THE SPIRIT OF OUR LORD. BUT FIGHT, GOD'S WAY, WE MUST!

5. "he was afraid" DON'T beat yourself up when this comes up, due to a multitude of reasons. No condemnations for us bro (Rom. 8:1) Fear is a natural response, but perfect love (God) castes out ALL FEAR.

6. "and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” Peter did the right thing, He cried out to Jesus. So cry out to Jesus when the fear comes and eat up the word. Work out in prayer and worship. Hallelujah!!!

7. "...And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. Your faith grows through all the ordeals we encounter if you cry out to Jesus and don't choose to go elsewhere.

Blessings dv
I truly believe what brother David has said wholeheartedly, especially about putting on he Full armour of God!`, Also as we grow in Christ, we also shall be attacked more diligently by the Adversary; that is why we must be dilligent in our convictions, and not let go of Jesus's hand, He / the Holy Spirit will be there to give us strength to endure the trials, we must go through; with a peace we could not have, living in the natural, This is a Spiritual warfare we are in, and needs to be faught, and conquered in the spiritual realm; The Father has answered so many prayers, and given visions and warnings of things to come/ happen, that I cannot just let go of Him in my life, He IS who Is and will be to come, the Beginning and the Ending of All things; Of that there is no doubt in my mind and heart, HIS graces are sufficient to sustain me, it is up to me to keep my conscious as HIS consciousness, that my life will pattern after HIS, ( No It wont be exactly as He suffered), but I believe it will paralell to many things that have gone before in the Bible, its u o me to waver not to ourtside influences and stay the course;... Will it be always easy, Not by a long shot, I've lived through most of the hard stuff already, and will make more mistakes in the future, its up to me to always be ready to listen to that still small voice and KNOW that HE IS God, to die to self, and just say YES LORD, and humble myself to say YOUR WILL BE DONE in ALL things, ALL areas of my life; Forgive, readily, and Love unconditionally is one of the keys to heaven.

And He lovingly awaits for our return, when we turn away from His paths, like the prodigal son/ daughter; For He delights in our salvation, So much so that He gave HIs life for ours, Can we do no less?

Great stuff!

Highly accurate and edifying!

Hi Amanuel, I have seen and heard all kinds of things. You have to ignore satan. He will tell you and show you anything. He is a liar. God is truth. Keep your eyes on Jesus. I have told demons to shut up before or buzz off in the name of Jesus Christ. You can't help every little thought that you have. You can make sure they don't lodge in your mind. Speak the word with authority, and you have authority in Jesus' name.
Love,
Mary O.
I can't say that I have been deterred personally, but I read once that life in general can get in the way. Sometimes Satan stands in our way just by (for example) putting us in a hurry, music in the car or television. Sometimes communication with God requires thought and quiet. It's hard to accomplish those things with background noise all the time and being in a hurry. If you feel like things happen with the intention of keeping you from doing things in Christ's name, you just might be right, and it might not be in the form that you expect. Good luck.
