All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I gave my life to Jesus a couple of months ago, then I started to read d Bible and realised that I had to find the church that followed all the Commandments. I am still on d search and I also want to get married. My partner will never get married if it's not in d catholic church, I'm not sure I'm a catholic but I don't want to live in sin. If I get married in a church I don't fully agree with, would I be sinning?

And how do I recognise a Gospel church? I have also attended to UCKG, it seems to be a bit of Prosperity ministry. Anyway, maybe d important thing is that God can see my heart, so that is all that matters
Virginia,

Doctrine is extremely important. God can see your heart beloved, but He is well please when we abide in His word and fellowship among those that have a desire for the truth. ONLY THE TRUTH CAN SET YOU FREE. By God's grace there are churches that have very sound doctrine, not perfect for they are comprise of people and we are not perfect, but at least they are truly seeking to please God. It is very important where we fellowship. The biggest events in our lives are being born again, who we marry and where we fellowship.

2 Timothy 2:15 (New International Version)
5 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

1 Peter 3:15 (New International Version)
15 ... Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Matthew 16:12 (New King James Version)
12 Then they understood that He did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees

Act 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Eph 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

1Ti 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

1Ti 4:6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

1Ti 4:13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

1Ti 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Titus 1:9 (New King James Version)
9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict.

2Jn 1:10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam,

Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.

2 Timothy 2
14 Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16 Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17 Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18 who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his,"[a] and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness."
anyway this is quite a deficult situation and believe you have to do want you think is right so that you donot commit sin
Hello Virginia,

Your heart and desire to follow Jesus are beautiful to see. As we walk with Him, He will turn our hearts away from the world, your fleshly desires, and the confused thoughts that the evil one has made part of our belief system. In turn, he guides us into truth through Holy Spirit, Scriptures, and other who have allowed Him to lead them through this sanctifying process. You will find that many who claim to be followers of Christ and even religious leaders, as in Jesus' day, have not submitted to this process. To try to cover their guilt they may become very religious and develop all manner of complex systems of religion and will try to get you to follow them.

God wants you to develop relationships with others who are sold out to him and are his true disciples. However, He warns us of how we relate to those who are not fully submitted to Him because He knows the temptation will be strong for us to pursue religion rather than to continue to be His disciple.

Realize that for the first 300 to 400 years after Christ came, believers met together in homes and the gospel spread rapidly . Eventually powerful Greeks wanted to capitalize on this movement that was shaking up the Roman Empire and to make it into something man could control so they brought it into the temples and created complex organizations.

Simply keep reading your scriptures and communing with Christ. Ask Him to lead you into the relationships He has for you that will encourage you and strengthen your faith and trust in Him. Be aware that the enemy will try to ensnare you in other relationships. Jesus loves you and has led you and will lead you. HE is the good shepherd. You can trust in Him.

One of the first areas Jesus may be challenging you with is your relationship with your 'partner'. Is this the person God the Father has prepared for you, who will strengthen you in your relationship with Him or is he a distraction? Be very careful about getting married to avoid sinning. God has great plans for you. By trusting in Him and following Him, you will in time find those plans. Before committing you life to someone, you must be certain that they are the one He has for you. There may be very hard sacrifices and tests along the way. Ask Christ and study his Scriptures. Rest in Him. Trust Holy Spirit to guide you.

I will pray for you.

Blessings !
Hello David,

Thank you very much for your words of encouragement. I am finding this moment of my life very difficult and confusing. First of all I haven't yet found out the church God wants me to attend to. Second, I am struggling with sin and then the fact that I still dont have a very strong faith is making me seek many people's advise which end up confusing me even more. I wish God could speak to me, if he is, i cant listen. I dont know how to interpret signs.
I am desperate, seriously.
Hello Virginia,

Be encouraged by the fact that you are struggling. Those who are dead in their spirit do not struggle. God is warring for your soul. He loves you desperately. He so wants to hold you and encourage you, to wipe away your tears and confusion. Run to Him. Find a safe place where you can cry out to him. Bear your soul to Him. He knows all and yet he wants to hear us.

I encourage you to find some way to remove yourself from a sinful situation because that will keep you defeated and confused. It may seem very hard but Jesus is worthy of whatever it cost us. You will feel so much strength and favor when you do step out toward righteousness.

I also encourage you to pray for and try to find some strong Godly women who can walk with you through this. If you cannot find anyone in your area I could try to connect you with my wife. She has a great heart for women facing challenges like you are right now. However, somehow you need support because it is so hard to stand against the snares of the enemy alone.

2nd Peter 1:3-4 "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

God is for you, who can stand against you?

Brother David
Hello David,

Thank you again for your words. I am really trying my best and I'm happy God is able to see my heart. I can't help self-pity feelings, I have lost much of my confidence and I'm waiting for God to restore it in me.
When I stop going to d church I used to go I started bible study at home, but d ladies that gave me d study belong to Adventist church. After big quarrels, my partner doesn't agree with this any longer.
I know about putting God first, that is what I want to do. It's not about putting any church first, I need peace at home, that's what God tells me.
I keep praying...
You are right about how good it would be for me to find the support of other women, I'd really appreciate your wife's friendship.

Thank you David and God bless you
Shaji thank you. It's been months and I haven't yet found a church, I'm still praying about it. I do my bible study, listen to some preachers but I haven't really got a preference for any determined denomination however I don't find that an issue any longer.
Thank you and God bless you, my brother.
Virginia,

Baptist and Assemblies of God churches are good ones sis. Calvary Chapel and Four Square are also good ones. Reformed churches are healthy places as well.

All the above differ in some secondary issues, such can someone speak in tongues or not, can someone lose their salvation or nor, but the primary doctrines are the same.
Hola Davidin,

There are a couple of ladies I know that are constantly inviting me to their churches, one is a Jehovah witness and the other one an adventist. Many times we study the bible together and I don't have a problem with that but the truth is that I do not feel God is leading me to their churches, at least for now.

I'll do some research on the churches you mentioned and see what I can find in London.

Thank you!!
Hola Virgie,

That is unfortunately that they are inviting you to churches that are not really healthy places. Jehovah Witnesses are not considered Christian. They are considered a cult. I studied with them for 3 years and they never introduced me to the Gospel message.

The Seven Day Adventist are considered Christians. They all follow a basic teaching among them, but do have their differences. Some of them are ok but some of them are extremely legalistic. I would not recommend neither of those churches. SDA follow the teachings of their founder Ellen G. White. Their primary doctrines are Protestant teachings, but they believe in the unconscious state of the dead and other minor, secondary things.

Keep praying and studying. God will lead you to a good place. Do you have any wedding plans yet?

Saludos y abrazos
Davidin,

I'll follow your advise. Wedding? that is another very long story, my friend.

Un abrazo.
