All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Does the homosexual christian exist? This is a topic that has been close to my heart for years. With the rise in large homosexual churches and clergy in recent years all around the world is homosexuality becoming more accepted in the christian faith?
Questions for discussion
Can you be a practising homosexual and be fully committed to god?
Can you be a homosexual christian and abstain from the 'act'?
If you feel you are homosexual and you want to be christian,do you then have to 'change' to fully live your life within christ?
Do fully committed heterosexual christians slate thoses who are homosexual?(be honest)
I decided to write this discussion after watching joni on daystar, who had a guest on,who had lived the homosexual lifestyle, until one day,he claims,God came to him and asked him to change and he did.He claimed he wasnt being changed from homosexuality to heterosexuality. He was being changed from homosexuality to holiness....
He is now happily married with kids and is a missionary....
This is a very mind blowing controversial subject and may also be a very emotional one for people on the NET.
I don't want to start a war(im all for world peace),but i am very interested in WORLD views on this subject........

Everyone has an opinion on these things, but we need to go back to the Bible to read what God says about homosexuality. You may want to do some research using these websites:

Does God hate homosexuals?

Hope these links help answer some questions.
Thanks for the comment,i will look up your links.God does say that man will not lie with man.Homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of god,in order for anyone sexually immoral to inherit the kingdom of God they would have to be washed, sanctified and justified by the spirit of our God.
On the other hand,we are all Gods children,he knew us when we were in the womb.He knew what we were before we were even born,so why create a being that can't possibly live within the boundaries of your own rules?
I just really want to see if there is a changing attitude across the globe on this subject, with churches accepting homosexual believers,i mean,God loves everyone, doesn't he..........

The bible rocks!!!!
What we are studying in Genesis is extremely pertinant to the question, "Why create a being that can't possibly live within the boundaries of [God's] rules?"

Question: How was man [Adam] originally created? What was God's original intention for sexual relations in Genesis 1?

Some scientists and many homosexuals claim there is a "gay gene" that makes them that way. Should we automatically accept that theory in light of what God's Word teaches? In reading Romans chapter one, what does God say about the origin of homosexuality?

Even if it were proven beyond any doubt (which they have not done, contrary to what the media would have us believe) that there was a "gay gene", does that absolve people from their personal responsibility?

For example... Personally, I'm genetically inclined toward depression. All of my birth family struggles with depression. One of my brothers was institutionalized for depression and eventually committed suicide. I've struggled with depression, but does that mean I should continue to wallow in it and allow it to dominate and eventually destroy my life? The same could be true for any "alcoholic" or "obesity" gene they happen to "discover".

The true test of any believer is not "Are they sinless?" but are they striving every day to "sin less and less"

God loves us all, but He also loves us too much to leave us the way we are.

Some thoughts to ponder.
Gods intention for sexual relations, was man/woman,no arguement there-but even man/woman sex can be immoral,in this day casual sex/sex before marriage is the first step in sexual immorality, yet these'heterosexuals' are welcomed with open arms into the church because they are'straight'(im not saying by God-but by us).Yet many homosexuals defer from going to church because they have sinned, because we look down on them because of their sexual acts, when actually the congregations maybe should be looking closer to home.Heterosexual sexual sin is hardly ever frowned upon by us because the relationship is man/woman,not man/man,woman/woman.

I'm 70/30 on the 'gay gene' theroy,i believe some gay people are born gay,but i also believe some gay people make the choice to be gay or fall into a gay relationship.

Is it a question of personal conscience?

If the 'gay gene' was proven, then where has it 'came from'.Who created man?
Maybe there was a fault in adams genetic 'make up',maybe the gene that skips generations?
If it was proven, did God make a slight glitch?

If it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that the 'gay gene' is a pure figment, are homosexuals downright sinners, down there with the lowest, murderers, pedophiles etc.Even though they haven't gone out and killed or hurt anyone else?

Does it mean if you are a non-active homosexual,God accepts you because you are not involved in the 'act' because you abstain(even though you may still call yourself 'gay'?

I can see where you are coming from using depression, alcoholism and obesity as examples of things that can destroy our life.Homosexuality is not a medical condition and will not destroy you
unless,of course, you are living a lie, then you are in trouble....
Depression, alcoholism and obesity can all be treated and controlled by a medical doctor,If you were to visit your doctor everytime you felt like having same sex, sex,he can't give you tablets and tell you that things will look better in a few weeks.

I also believe if you manage to ask the Lord for help in any situation he will help.
He does love us all.
I had a situation in my church many years ago where a young man in our church youth group one day pitched up for church in female clothing with make-up etc. The story was that because of his unique circumstances, after pshycological analysis, the government was going to pay for a sex-change and he had to start making the transition and living a female life even before the operation. To say the least, I was very uncomfortable with the whole setup.

To put it in perspective, this man was not a practicing homo, but someone that I believed really loved the Lord. We were asked to refrain from councelling him as the pastor himself was dealing with the matter.

I still don't know the details, but it seems that at birth a choice had to be made regarding his gender and the doctors decided to make him a male. As he grew up, he started to doubt his real identity. After being ministered to, the Lord touched him and gave him peace about his masculinity. Consequently, he stopped the whole process. Fortunately for him, it was made easier by his friends who really stood by him. I must confess though, that I personally did not cope with it too well at the time.

I am convinced that if a person like this can be straigthened, anyone can. I have also heard testimonies by true homo-sexuals who were touched by the Lord and delivered from this evil spirit.

People tend to think that homo-sexuals were created like that and therefore we must just accept it.
Yes it is true, as in the example I gave, that some people are born physically different, but the arm of the Lord is not too short to reach out even to them and pull them through. Most homos however don't even have this excuse, they are simply demonically bound to vile, sinful thoughts and behaviours.

To speak of homosexual believers, is similar to speaking of alcoholic believers or fornicating believers. This is not something to simply accept. They all need help.
Interesting. I didn't think at first that God could/would create someone like that young man But it seems that He does/has.
I don't believe that a Christian can be a homosexual, although a christian can certainly have the desires.

in any case great testimony. hopefully it helps somebody

Thinking about your statement that God would not create someone like this, it hit me....... this person was not created, he was born.

(Now don't shoot me down yet, theologically I have left myself open to attack.) The point I want to make is this. What God creates is good and perfect. The world we live in is a far cry from the one God created. We live in an imperfect world and God is not in control of it. In Christ, His saints are. Remember, in Him we have delegated authority and it is our responsibility to use it.

Who is to blame then? THe disciples asked the same question....
"And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." (Joh 9:2-3)

Praise God!
interesting, I tend to equate the two. I can see where you are coming from in terms of a difference between "created" and "born" The bible does say that everything God creates is good. Is everything that is born good? I don't know

I have to disagree with "We live in an imperfect world and God is not in control of it" Though the world is imperfect, since it's caretakers have free wills and are imperfect being, God is in total and complete control of it. an omnipotent God can't really lose control of the world. It seems like instead He is in control of our imperfections.

So who is to blame? ( this might be a rethorical questions in which case you're allowed to "duhhh" ;-) me)
it varies with individual cases, certaintly my sins affect my environment, certainly God Himself places people in rather interesting sitituations, so i don't know!

God Bless

Hi

Sometimes our faith is based on wishful thinking. If only God were in control. There would have been no need for a new earth and a new heaven and there would have been no sickness, no death and no sin. Unfortunately, reality is not so perfect.

“We know that we belong to God even though the whole world is under the rule of the Evil One.” (1Jo 5:19 GNB)

I simply can't argue with the word of God.

God Bless
The obvious question then becomes “who gave God this coup?” Did a sovereign, omnipotent God lose control? Did He relinquish control? Does scripture contradict itself?

Job 25

“2 "Dominion and awe belong to God;
he establishes order in the heights of heaven.
3 Can his forces be numbered?
Upon whom does his light not rise?”

Psalm 22:28
for dominion belongs to the LORD
and he rules over the nations.

Psalm 145:13
your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and your dominion endures through all generations.

see Also Job 38-39

From Genesis when God create the earth, he gave man control over it.
Gen 1:26
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
Can we say that God was not in control of the earth then because man had control of it?

I’m not arguing that Satan does not have control over the world, his influences are quite evident. Nonetheless, the bible does not say anywhere that God is not in control, it’s just not there. Satan’s control over the world is not absolute. God’s is. Satan cannot in anyway upset God’s plans, so the control that he has is permission from HIM who is truly in control.

Hi Phabs,

If God controlled us, then we would have had no free will. If we had no free will, then there would have been no sin and no need for a Saviour. I don't for one minute doubt God's omnipotence or sovereignity in the universe.

But we all pray, "let Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven." God's kingdom will return to earth when He does.

Adam received rule over earth from God, but then submitted to Satan, effectively handing over the rule. To make a long story short, the rule was taken back from Satan by Jesus and delegated to the church. The rest of the world is still under Satan.

But we digress. The point is, who is responsible for people being born blind, or deaf or without arms, or as Siamese twins, or cripple or with physical sexual oddities? Not my God! He is in the healing and fixing business, not in the hurting and breaking business. I am sure you will agree.

To God the glory!
Glory to God in the highest.
Hi Pieter,
I totally agree with you and He is also my God and I am proud to be serving Him and I'll do it to the end, until He returns for me and everyone who believes in Him, Halleulujah!!

God Bless!
