End Times Study and Sorting Biblical Truth from False Statements

There is a lot of material out there drawing your attention these days. Specifically, I think you will see a number of discussions in church that pay a lot of attention to "end-times' prophecy. I feel that a broad-based study of the full Bible is a healthy place to center your attention.

I'm curious if the membership here has formed any opinion on the material by Ronald Weinland. He has done a couple of publications that are directed toward end-time prophecy. I will join the discussion with some specific opinions after some dialog from others has been shared.

Thank you for your comments Carla.
What I never mentioned about reading Rev 20:10 is that the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Heb 4:12) This is why the devil scatters when presented with the truth of his future dwelling place.
When given the opportunity to witness, I have discovered that a simple quotation of scripture is far more effective than many words. Sometimes a verse quoted will bring about a startled look which indicates that the Holy Spirit is active in both your lives.
In you, because the Spirit has given you the word to say and in him or her because it is exactly what was needed to be said.
One very important factor in this Carla is that the Holy Spirit can only bring verses to your memory, the verses you have already memorised.
You may know of a verse and perhaps try to paraphrase it, but it will not have the same authority when spoken.
I hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs in that you are already aware of this.
Sincere wishes and have a Blessed day.
Your Brother in Christ - Ron
It amazes me how the enemy will use any thing to distract us from our race that is set before us. It is a relay type race because we are not in compition with each other. I have come to understand that the devil has set his attack against us to keep us from finishing our race that God has given each of us.
Heb 12:1 As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.
Heb 12:2 Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne.
Heb 12:3 Think of what he went through; how he put up with so much hatred from sinners! So do not let yourselves become discouraged and give up.

I can do all things through the power of Christ that reside within me. I have to remind myself of this all the time. I live with cronic pain every day due to a neurological disorder I came down with 2 years ago. I have had to continually cast off the weight of it. My greatest enemy is self pitty which is a weight I have to throw off myself each day. I have also learned to wait upon the Lord to renew my strength. The enemy will tempt you to believe lies. that God does not care etc. It has been a battle that I will win if I continue to trust in him who endured the cross, dispising the shame because of the joy that would come to millions because Jesus finished his race. It does not matter how you bein a race, it is how you finish that matters most
Hi Bob,
In regard to the anticipation of Christ's return, Yes! No question. Sadly many men have tried to work out the exact date and failed hopelessly.
One group 1n 1844 had members who stopped working and even went up to the top of mountains to wait for the Lord's return. Sadly He did not.

"You may wonder how you can tell when a prophet's message does not come from the LORD.
If a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD and what he says does not come true, then it is not the LORD's message. That prophet has spoken on his own authority, and you are not to fear him."
(Deu 18:21-22 God News Bible)

I am certain that true Christians who are the Temple of the Holy Spirit, have the Spirit witnessing and ecouraging us, to continually "Look Up" It has been this way with every disciple of Christ.
We live as you well said: "In constant anticipation, either for the Rapture,
OR
the moment we enter into His presence to be with the Lord at our death.
These promises are the Christian's Blessed Hope from a God who cannot lie.
The Lord Bless you today as you
spend time in Christ.
Ron
You are right that date setting is wrong, If you read some of the history of the Jehovah witnesses you see that they have set dates numerious times. It is amazing that even when there is a clear false prophecy that the people don't leave the group. These false prophets bread discouragement in peoples lives and cause offences where people and comunities won't even listen to a gospel message. God knows human nature that if He gave a date of the return of Christ we would not live ready lives antiscipating His coming.
Mar 13:32 "No one knows, however, when that day or hour will come---neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; only the Father knows.
Mar 13:33 Be on watch, be alert, for you do not know when the time will come.
Mar 13:34 It will be like a man who goes away from home on a trip and leaves his servants in charge, after giving to each one his own work to do and after telling the doorkeeper to keep watch.
Mar 13:35 Watch, then, because you do not know when the master of the house is coming---it might be in the evening or at midnight or before dawn or at sunrise.
Mar 13:36 If he comes suddenly, he must not find you asleep.
Mar 13:37 What I say to you, then, I say to all: Watch!
I have been a believer for over 30 years, I have expearenced alot of opposition from the enemy and have had to learn the hard way that I don't have what it take in my own strength to wage an affective warfare against him. I have had times where it was if I was on the front lines fighting a battle that I had no Idea how to deal with. I have fallen in defeat, I have retreated in absolute frustration, I have done everything I was taught and still was defeated. There are some thing I have learned that has helped me to walk in victory. Number 1 faith, Trust, dependance upon the fact that Jesus has already fought and won the war against Satan, he triumpt over him and declares to us that we have overcome because greater is he who is in me than he who is in the world. Number 2 our greatest weapon is truth against the father of lies. We are in a battle between the truth and the lies we believe. That is why memorizing the scripture will help us to recognize the lies. Number 3 we need to learn to make sure that we are developing the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. As long as we are distracted from cultivating a life of yeilding to the Spirit by yeilding to the temptations of the flesh, the world, and Satan, we will live in defeat. The end times are here, we need to keep our focus upon Jesus the author and finisher of our faith
In addition to Ronald Weinland that is "carrying the torch" for the movement represented in his two books. Take a look at the statement in reference to Mr. Armstrong: (from the book)...

In January of 1986, the work of the end-time Elijah came to an
end when he died. His name was Herbert W. Armstrong. God called
him out of this world and gave him a most incredible job to
perform. That job began very humbly in the early 1930s.
Molding the Elijah
Herbert W. Armstrong was a very successful advertising man in his
early days, but God began to draw him out of this world and “call”
him to a special job. God molded and fashioned the conditions and
circumstances surrounding his life in order to prepare him for what
lay ahead.
Good Morning Stew,
As I said earlier, I have not read Weinland's works. You spoke of his book 'Carrying the Torch' for the movement represented in his two books..... What movement was this Stew? Also what is meant by
Herbert Armstrong being the 'End-time Elijah?
Have a good day Stew, here in S. Africa the Sun is out in all it's glory.
Ron.
My reflection on these books is that they are authored by some folks that are attempting to introduce a different spin on scripture. There is a clever intermixing of truth with "new prophecy" in a subtle attempt to draw attention toward an approach that seems to be non-biblical. As an example, there is reference to certain "rules" that need to be followed now in relationship to which day you worship the Lord. There are other "secrets" that the author indicates are critical to know and follow in order to be saved. I see this all as highly suspect and out of conformance with salvation by faith.
How right you are Stew. Most"sects" rope unsuspecting people into their fold with false statements that cannot be held up to the light of scripture.
Like all false teachers they "Copy" and "Paste" verses from different sections of scripture and expound on them as though they were explaining one single verse.
Strangely enough, I listened to a "preacher" last night on TV. He explained away the Rapture, with great applause from his audience. What the audience did not seem to understand, is that verses do not need to be changed or explained away to mean something they do not say. His explanation of: Mat 24:40 "Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." and verse 24:41 "Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left." was that this was not referring to a Rapture that will never happen, but he said, it was simply about men and women who had studied the Bible and had become Christians. He completely ignored Mat 24:30-31 which leads up to these verses concerning the Rapture. "And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Look up my brother, the day is not far off. Perhaps not in my lifetime but very close as there are few prophecies left to be fulfilled that will bring about God's promises to His Church.

This stuff sounds alot like the Seventh Day Adventist. For years in the Christian Church has been inandated with wierd stuff. Satan wants us to take the bate of false doctrine. Examples of false doctrine;Kingdom Now Theology (Wikipedia encyclopedia). Some Word of Faith ministries also embrace the name it claim it nab it grab it mentality which breads alot of self centered almost lustful mentality, I was in a group like this for almost 12 years. This group also promoted what I call the Anointed ones which teach that certain people are anionted with special giftings which set the up in a superior place where every one below them creating a codependancy upon the anointed one. We need to be biblical in our walk with God and not get drawn a away with strange teachings that are out side of what the Bible teaches
I have read the first to books and One of them in this series is the third isthe torch and the sword by Rick Joyner that is good but I definately will check out the others ya'll are mentioning. Thanks!
The video was shocking and led me to believe the realness of our present day gross darkness
