All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

....fear satan? Not the fear or respect that comes with love and adoration as we give to God but are we to be afraid of Him? Should we be careful as to how we deal with Him? For lack of a better word at this moment and strictly to get my point across.....are we to treat him with any kind of "respect"? I can further clarify my questions if need be....

Hi Bev,

I tend towards laziness when it comes to checking things up... But I am pretty certain that I wrote to you, saying that Satan (that old man the devil) is not omnipresent, omniscient or omnipotent. Therefore he cannot be the one bothering you. He probably has never seen you or spoken to you. He is far too busy with the likes of Leaders and Rulers of this world, than to be bothered with you and I.

Those bothering you are demons (Satan's pals).

I believe we should not threaten these demons, but then neither show any fear or respect towards them.

"Just as Michael left it to the Lord to handle Satan, we too should hand these demons over to God.

"Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee." Jude 1:9

What is there, that we CAN DO?

Well Satan, the beast the False Prophet and all demons are headed for the Lake of fire where they will all spend eternity. When they try to frighten you, why not frighten them back? Why not remind them through the Word of God, where they are going to and where they will spend eternity? Just say to them: "I have something I would like to read to you, to remind you all of your eternal destiny. I am going to heaven, let's see where all of you are going?" Then read the following out to them:

"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." Rev 20:10

I find I get a lot of satisfaction when I do this as they all know that I am quoting the words of God Himself and are not able to counter an argument against it.

Hi Bev,
One of the ways to learn anything is to ask questions. All on AAG do not mind assisting.

Lucifer was one of the major angels in heaven. Having seen and experienced the wonder of Heaven he still rebelled and found himself expelled from God's presence.

Once a person rejects Christ as their Lord and Saviour and dies in that position of unbelief, there is no second chance.

Why then would God ever refuse people a second chance and yet give Satan and his demons another chance? Satan and his demons are responsible for all the millions of people in Hell, who rather believed the demons than the Holy Spirit. There is no way that God is going to allow any one who rejects His gift, to escape His Judgment.
Should we reject God's Son who paid for our sins Himself then we ourselves remain responsible and must accept responsibility for them.
Hell is final and those who Reject God and His Son will not escape.

I believe too that there is so much hate against God that Satan and his demons will never repent.

Bev, just for a moment think what God did to save us all.
God HIMSELF came down in the form of a man and allowed men to spit on Him, beat Him and mock Him. They pierced His hands and feet, slapped Him through the face and stuck a spear in His side. This is God the creator of all the Heavens and earth allowing His creation to treat Him this way, just so that we would not go to Hell.
Sin is so horrific in God's sight, that only He could pay the punishment it deserves.
Little wonder then that those who snub their noses at God, will spend eternity separated from Him in Hell.
The soul that sins shall die says the Lord and then He came and died in our place.

Thank you Lord for your Mercy and Grace shown and given to a miserable wretch like me.

Let me help here.see God's encounter with satan job1:6-12 and matt 4:3-11.God's spirit is of love:we are spirits and our fruits is love based not flesh Gal 5:19 down.2 tim 1:6 not fear but love, power and sound mind;a mind that is confident in God's ability to handle satan for us ,but speak truth politely to him.
Why should we? We have God on our side! I dont pay the devil any mind. I know that he has limited power and my source of strength is from the most high God, exceedingly above little ole satan. When I say name of Jesus, he has to flee with his tail between legs or whatever he has. He is a coward. I don't treat cowards with respect, but I don't tempt the devil either by going to clubs, drinking, smoking, or making bad decisions. That's an interesting question though.
If God gave Adam and Eve dominion over the planet and EVERY creaping thing ect, I think Satan doesnt deserve any respect. He doesnt get any from me. I dont not live in fear of Satan. There were many years he tortured me and made me think that my fears were too big for God. He is dust under our feet.
Prov 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. ESV
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ESV

Remember also, Peter walking on the water as he walked toward Christ. He looked away and began to sink.

Our understanding is so vague, that we need to keep our eyes on Christ always. If we are looking at Him, we can't possibly see Satan because Jesus blocks our vision and Satan's vision. If we happen to be like Peter and stop looking at Christ, Satan will jump in, but only as long as we don't resist him. Once we move our eyes to Christ, Satan is gone. But always til a more opportune time.
Bev,

Satan cannot be ignored, nor can he be toyed with. He is real and very dangerous, in that he attempts to mislead people and attempts to pervert the truth, as he and his army come masquerading as an angels of light (2 Cor. 11:14-15). He attempts to intimidate (1PE 5:8 Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.)

Your application of respect is correct. Jude :9 says "even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" We stand against Satan by "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" James 4:7. Using Scriputre (Mat. 4) is a strong weapon when resisting him. I fear that too many take our adversary too lightly. We need not fear him, but we must be aware of him and his ploys. He is recognized as the prince of this world (Jn. 12;31; 14:30; 16:11). He is cuurently being restrained, but a time is coming when the restrainer will be removed (2 Th. 2:5-12).

Without a doubt we have the promise of 1 John:

1JN 4:4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1JN 5:1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Lord Bless,
LT
I am currently reading a book by Chip Ingram called, "The Invisible War," which is specifically about this subject. He says the Bible makes it clear that Jesus already won the battle and there is no real reason to fear any fallen angel for that matter. Satan is only respected because we can speculate that he was there when the earth was created, so he knows alot about created things but he isn't omnipotent nor omnipresent as God is. He is able to take of the truth and cause a lie. This is the reason he is called the father of lies by Jesus. So, Yes, Satan should be respected because if you don't pay him any attention, be most assured he is giving you all of his attention to confuse and help destroy you soul.
