All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I believe that praise and worship is of utmost importance for us as Christian. All about God .com has a wonderful teaching on praise and worship and I am including some of it here.

1Why Praise and Worship - Why Should We do it?
God alone is worthy of our devotion, praise and worship. He is God, our Creator, and we are commanded to praise and worship Him. Psalm 96:9 says, "Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth." Psalm 29:2 says, "Give unto the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."

A.W. Tozer said, "Without worship, we go about miserable." God doesn't want us to be miserable -- He has a perfect plan for our lives. He has done so many things to show us that He loves us and doesn't want us to be miserable. He wants us to have hope for a future with Him --he wants us to have eternal life in heaven with Him.

A life of praise and worship fills our deepest needs, and amazingly, it also brings great joy to God.
Zephaniah 3:17 states, "The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing. (Rejoice means to spin around with great joy).

Learning about praise and worship is about developing an attitude of graditude for all Christ has done for us. When we begin to praise the Lord out of a heart of graditude then all that He has done for us comes into focus for us.

Hillsong - You Saw Me
Your glory fills the heavens
Your glory fills the earth
Still You chose surrender
You gave Yourself for me

God of my salvation
Hope of righteousness
You paid the price of freedom
You took a lonely cross

Bless the Lord always
Bless Your holy Name

And You saw me
When You took a crown of thorns
And Your blood washed over me
And You loved me
Through the nails that You bore
And Your blood washes over me

Amazing like no other
Grace without an end
As Your word had promised
You died and rose again
Learning about praise can be difficult when it comes to dealing with hardship, loss, and with things that are beyond our ability to understand. How is it possible to praise God when you have experienced some negative circumstances? The answer is obedience. When we praise God in spite of the hardship, in spite of the loss, then it is a praise that comes from faith in the goodness of God and in his wisdom.

But at midnight Paul and Silas who were beaten and thrown in prison and there they sang songs of praise to the Lord and the other prisoners listened and that God responded with an earthquake that set them free. Acts 16:22-24

At the midnight hour, when things look the darkest, this is when we are able to realize who we serve and stand up victoriously and understand who we are in Christ, we start singing praises to God.

Praise is warfare. In the Bible we see Jehosephat sending the singers and musicians out first. Praise is a powerful force against the enemy.

Something happens when we praise God, especially when we are going through a really tough time.

When we learn to praise the Lord no matter what the circumstance, then we will see the Lord tears down the walls of the prison built up all around us.

And at the right time, at the midnight hour, the walls will come tumbling down.

When the enemy has us oppressed; at the midnight hour, start lifting up the name of the Lord! He will show up, and He will free us from bondage.
He who the Son sets free is free indeed!

You are holy, holy
Lord there is none, like you
You are holy, holy
Glory to you, my lord (2x)

I sing your praises forever
Deeper in love with you
Here in your courts
Where I'm close to your throne
I've found better light in you lord (2x)

I sing your praises forever
Deeper in love with you
Here in your courts
Where I'm close to your throne
I've found where I belong

You are holy, holy
Lord there is none, like you
You are holy, holy
Glory to you, my lord

I sing your praises forever
Deeper in love with you
Here in your courts
Where I'm close to your throne
I've found where I belong
(In the lord, yeah)

I sing your praises forever
Deeper in love with you (love with you)
Here in your courts
Where I'm close to your throne
I've found where I belong

I sing your praises forever (forever)
Deeper in love with you (love with you)
Here in your courts
Where I'm close to your throne
I've found where I belong (2x)
Much of my praise and worship comes from graditude for promices given in scripture
This song is from Psalm 91 which is so full of things to be grateful for.

The glorious appearing of Jesus as the Lord of Lords and king of kings gives us something to praise the Lord for. Let it be our prayer let your kingdom come let your will be done.

Bob, I Praise God that you are so powerfully bringing forth the importance and Power of PRAISE here on allaboutGod.

Many blessings to you brother~carla
We worship God because it is one of the reason why God created us, to worship Him.. And He deserved to be praise..
Yes Isa it is the reason we were created to show forth the praises of our God. You know we also are a reason for praise in Heaven. The scripture says there is rejoicing in Heaven when a sinner repents and comes to the Lord.

I have learned something new about praise and worship in the last couple of weeks. I have learned that praise and worship is very powerful in the face of sorrow.
How can this be so you may ask? I lost my mom and a sister-in-law who I was very close to me within a 3 week period. Both memorial services were on the same weekend. I found such joy in knowing they were with the Lord; I have found a greater realization of heaven and even of the Lord. I found joy in knowing that many hundreds of people got to hear the testimony of 2 great women who showed the world that with Jesus we can do all things. I found joy in how the Lord came near to us in both services.
I praise the lord that we are not as unbelievers who have no hope in the resurrection. I praise God that He has given me grace to endure such a great loss. I praise God for helping my family members to find peace and help in their time of need. I praise God that they have joined that great cloud of witnesses that cheer us on to finish the race that is set before us.
Ever since the day when I was saved at 15, I have had a heart for worship. Way back then in the mid 1970s we sang the old hymns in church and worship was a very minimal part of a church service, especially on Sunday mornings. I am thankful for a Christian radio station that I could pick up that played more contemporary music. I had a heart full of praise that I did not know how to release to God. It was not the norm like it is today to sing songs to God. We use to sing about God, about our victory in our lives, and about God’s promises, but I desired to sing to God. I remember that old radio station started having what they called, “praise breaks.” I remember running quick to get it recorded on tape because they only did it every once in a while and I wanted to worship with it during the week. I was introduced to worship directed to God and soon it caught on every where and changed worship in the church forever in many churches thanks to Maranatha Music, Integrity Music, Vineyard Music, Hillsong, etc.
Today there is a new generation of young Christians who have been obeying the word which tells us to make his praises glorious. There are dancers, lighting, multiple instruments, and young hearts filled with love for the lord seeking to pour it out to the Lord. I love it with all my heart.
I am so thankful for our Christian Heritage and love the old hymns also. I am so glad that many have been updated and are being used in worship today also.
I think God loves it all if we are bring it before him from our hearts.

Here are a few of some of the new wonderful praise and worship.

Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day I praise You, Because of Your righteous ordinances.
Psalm 119:7 I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.
Psalm 145:2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever
