All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Some people have said to me "Be careful what you pray for"  and my response is usually why?

If Jeremiah says this

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Then why should I be afraid to pray for what I think I need?  Or anything else for that matter?  Doesn't God already know what we need even before we ask?  Why would He ever give us something bad even if we asked for it?

I'm curious what you guys think about this.

I know what you mean by strange ways. Gary (hubby) and I had a call from a young Christian that we were shepherding at that time. Her sister had taken too many pills. This must have been the days before 911. Gary and I raced over. We got held up at this traffic signal that seemed to take forever. Maybe it was stuck. We were praying on the way over of course. I tried telling the light to change in Jesus' name. Nothing happened. Clear as day, the Lord said you're talking to the wrong light. It's that one over there. As soon as I got the correct traffic signal light, the lights began blinking and changed.

I learned God likes you to be specific sometimes, but if you can't be specific, He will help you. God could have gone ahead and changed the signal anyway, but then I wouldn't have learned the lesson He wanted me to learn.

Love,

Mary

maybe its lacking wisdom when we ask God for things and answers, to ask God for something and get it and then think that was maybe not a good thing, . we are so blessed with the answers given here a wonderful discussion. bless.
