Thanks  Elaine    Appreciate the reply . Actually the question was just out there. And I should possably clarified. what I meant is God would have all mankind come to Him.  Yet yes the realization is that not all will. This however doesnot eliminate our responsibility. And I firmly believe as a follower of Christ I most act and relate in a manner that suggest all can come to The Father.  Not with the thought that many won't.  And thus today as in the past prophets and apostles are still very much alive. As our Heavenly Father through the Holy Spirit as Jesus stated is still giving direction, is still teaching. Two jobs both the apostle and prophet were/are well used for.

And again thanks Elaine as you have confirmed my point that modern day religion has and is quenching the Spirit in many ways.

There are prophets, and apostles that are very much alive , I speak with them daily, they have walked, talked, seen
Things, warning, you name it, they gone thriught torture to be who they are, and then there are false prophets
So we must beware, I dont involve myself in many Discussion's dean, but God led to this, and I can surely tell a
False prophet, because God as bestowed tat knowledge in me , so thank you dean were both on the same page
My brother, Blessing's

Elaine,

What apostles do you speak with daily?

I am led by God to say this, A false Prophet does no have the fruit of the Spirit, the Character of God,
and will try to change or teach other doctrines other than the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, Also what
prophet Prophesis will come true if they are truely God, As God states no prophet is believe in his/ her.
Own Country, But no matter how long it takes even if it is not in the person lifetime who has heard
the prophesy , it comes true, Like Noah , it took 20 years for the flood to come.
We will call her Karen, she is a prophet, and has gone through trials with God, she speaks the Gospel of Jesus
Very well, she is not a mind reader, fortune teller, or no hokes ,you jus don't become a apostal or prophet
Overnight Dhe has the fruit and spirit of God, and what she prophesis, if you don't believe there are prophets
Or disciples , then maybe Gd jst doesn't want you to know that yet, it is up to the Lord the knowledge and teaching
He chooses for you to have and it is you choice if you chose to believe, I am no prophet, but I know of them and
Speak with them , just as God led me to this discussion , he led to apostal Prophet, and I give all the glory to God.
Blessings.
The gift of prophecy does exist and so do apostles that is
All I'm going to comment on , I know where God
Guided me, and the gift of prophecy does exist.
Amen, Amen, Amen, LOL
Thank you for sharing Amanda, nice VD. BLESSJNG's to you and your's.

What do we say about apostles and prophets? In the Bible these were very powerful men. They spoke the Word of God and gave us His Word. The giving of His Word came with great power. We do not necessarily see that today at least in this country. We do see healings and miracles, but we do not see everyone healed. We have people today suffering from diseases, handicaps, and other maladies. We pray and ask God to heal them all but not all are healed. When Peter was walking in the anointing, if people even came in contact with his shadow, they were healed.

Apostles were given authority to forgive sins. I do not know of those who have that authority today.

Amanda has put forth a very good position of the apostles and prophets being the foundation of the church. The foundation has been established and how the house is being built.

LT has helped defined what we see today as illumination rather than revelation. This would be the Revelation of Jesus Christ revealed.

All agree that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still available today. But, does the gift of prophecy make one a prophet?

Prophets in the Old and New Testament were alike. A prophet in the Old spoke for God as did the prophets in the New Testament. A prophet is one that speaks for God. According to Scripture, a prophet had to be 100% accurate. If he missed just once, he was a false prophet. Today, those who say they are prophets seem to miss all the time yet others do not seem to hold them accountable.

I showed that the Apostle Paul left the church in the hands of elders (bishops, pastors) and deacons to minister to the saints. The role of the deacon in the New Testament church was a very powerful one. I wonder if many who feel they are prophets are really deacons. Stephen and Phillip were apparently deacons but yet had great power. Chris says he is a prophet but calls himself a deacon or servant. Does he call himself a servant rather than a prophet simply because so many would reject him calling himself the prophet Chris rather than a servant Chris? Chris would have to give that answer himself. I tend to believe that if you are a leader in the church today you are either an elder or a deacon. Evangelists also serve the church but don't seem to be in authority over the church. An apostle or prophet would have power over the church. If a person were a prophet, the church would have to submit to his authority. An apostle would not ask permission to come and speak - an apostle would say, "I am going to be there Sunday and take up an offering for such and such." I don't see that kind of authority even in the Charismatic circles. It seems to me that a prophet would carry similar authority.

Now, we come to 1 Cor 14 where it says that two or three prophets should speak.

1 Co 14:29-33  Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. ESV

Are all prophets? When these prophets spoke, others weighed what they said. This does not sound to me like a prophet as described by Moses or others. Was this office being changed here? Who were these that prophesied? I personally believe these were preachers. If an Isaiah comes to your door, you don't weigh or test what he says. You get out of his way. When Elijah says the storm is coming, you can count on it, "The storm is coming." Are modern day prophets preachers? Should they continue to say, "Thus says the Word of the Lord?"

If a person speaks for God, he needs to be100% correct. He cannot make mistakes. If he says something like, "I believe the Lord gave me a word for you but check it out to make sure it is true," I tend to think that is not a prophet like we think of in the Bible sense of the office.

If a prophet comes to town to raise a person from the dead, the dead person better get up out of that casket or I don't think you are a prophet after all. The prophet will have 100% success rate as He speaks and acts for God. God never misses.

Just some more thoughts for us to consider.

Hi Roy   All very good questions and points. I do think however all can be answered with one question.

If Jesus came amongst us as He did amongst the Jews  how would He be recieved. How long would it be before we crucified Him. A question I believe we all have to take into great consideration.

Roy

1Cor 3:10-11 10Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.  Jesus is our Foundation, on that I believe we all agree.  The old Testament prophets proclaimed among others things the Coming of Our Lord.  Apostles are those who were sent out to spread the Word of Truth.  Yes, Eph 2:20 Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. As we all have agreed the Word is Complete.  Are we saying, "apostles and prophets are part of the foundation?"  Again, I believe we all agree Jesus is the Foundation, as v20 starts "together we are His House."  I do not believe if one give prophesy, that in itself makes that one a prophet.  1Cor 12:27-31  27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. 28 Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church:

first are apostles,

second are prophets,

third are teachers,

then those who do miracles,

those who have the gift of healing,

those who can help others,

those who have the gift of leadership,

those who speak in unknown languages.

29 Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? 30Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not! 31So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts.  But now let me show you a way of life that is best of all.

1Cor 13:4-7  4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.  If, we do not show all parts of Love, at every-time does that mean we have No love?   If, we lay hands on people and not all are healed, does that mean no one ever was?

Col 1:9-11 So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you Complete Knowledge of His Will and to give you Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need.  Until, a person has this type of Knowledge, Wisdom, and Understanding, does that mean no Fruit will be produced?  We all know only God can make things grow.  Yet, v10 is that word,"then." is it correct to say until that time we are not able to please the Lord?  We see in Col 1:25 God has given me the responsibility of serving His church by proclaiming His entire message to you.  Until, that time this message was secret.  So before Paul stepped into, who he was and given that Message he was given, did that in anyway lessen the messages taught by the other apostles?  No, it is Never about the messenger, only the Message.

1Cor 14:29-33 29Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said. 30And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop. 31For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged. 32The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets. 33For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.  Does this mean all can prophesy?  That part is not up to me.  "The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets."  This I believe shows us that we are not puppets, that even if not finished, they can stop and yield to another.  It does bring me to this point, "For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged."  The Message comes from God yet, the way that message is delivered can differ from who is sharing it.  Not the Wisdom just the flavor.

God is a God of Order.  I have followed that by first, obedience to God. I have never given a Word in a Church that the Pastor did not already know me.  I would not think it to be correct to step over his authority.  How he handles any authority I have is between him and God.

As to the point 100%, only God was able to know at the moment the prophet spoke that it would be so.  What I mean is, we know hundreds and even thousands of years came and went before the events came through.   As I had shared earlier, I do believe there is a difference between old and new Testament prophets.  When Jesus came He fulfilled the law.

Here is the bottom line to me.  I did not ask for any part of the office.  Have signs followed, yes. 100% no.  When I shared with you Roy a tiny example, I believe Col 1:9 backs me up.  I can find no reason for God to allow a man, to take control over a Pastors Church.  For a man or woman to dismiss a Shepard in front of his sheep.  If, that Pastor say a word, he then would be dismissed.  I believe in order.  Two or three times now, I have written a Word to a Pastor about his Church.  He did not know me very well, so I left it up to him how it was to be delivered.  If I was in error I will answer for that.

If prophet must be 100%, do all the other offices?  Do, they speak of their own wisdom, when they teach and lead?  I understand what you mean, and what I shared with you the other day, was the first time I had done it that way.  Past that I have not been corrected before.  And to that, I would like you to consider Col 1:9.

Just a few more to consider

One more thought.  Jonah 3:4 On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: “Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!”   Was Nineveh destroyed, in in view of how they repented? Or, did Jonah speak falsely?  Or, did he just obey, and God showed Who He Is?

I think that might be my last thought for the moment.

Lord Bless
