All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am in a place where I need to forgive someone who has hurt me deeper than I have ever been hurt before.  I am currently asking the Lord for guidance on how I can forgive him.  I could use all the help I can get because I am struggling with this.

Wendy,

The Bible gives us the command to forgive those who do evil against us but doesn't really give us the secret on how to do so. You are already at an advanced stage in your response to forgive as your desire is to forgive even though this individual has hurt you deeply. I would encourage you to deep trusting in our Lord, forgive by continuing in your service to Him. The feelings of peace will eventually come but for right now you are really doing well. God will give you so much more than what you have lost as you keep your trust in Him. You sound very healthy to me. I pray our Lord will give you the comfort you seek. He will take that hurt away and replace it with joy. In Jesus name.

Thank you very much. :)

I agree with Roy.

I have also found over the years that holding a grudge or not forgiving someone only effects us. The person who wronged us usually couldn't care less or has no idea of the impact their action has had on us. So if we hold that grudge or do not forgive, we are really keeping ourselves from being happy and coming closer to God.

I experienced a major betrayal two years ago. It took me several months to realize the other person couldn't have cared less. Then I realized that not forgiving and letting it go gave that person power over me when in fact it should have been God who has power over me. The minute I let it go I felt closer to God.

  Good luck Wendy.

God is Soooo Cooool

Thank you as well.  :)

Think about all that God has forgiven you and you will be able to forgive others.

We have been forgiven so much  - how can we not give grace, when we live due to grace? We want mercy and grace and God gives it to us, as we come to him with a contrite heart, so when it's our turn to be Christ like in forgiving and extending mercy, we can generously give.
