All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I was dating a guy who cheated on me for 8 weeks & I found out when he told me after I had been dating him for 9 weeks, so yes he was dating me & another girl at the same time & told me a week later he ended it with her a week ago, he has lied about almost everything over this whole time. know I love this guy but now I have lack of trust for him. He says his a Christian & has apologized for cheating & swears he won't cheat again, but he has still kept up his lies. WHAT AM I TO DO AS A CHRISTIAN? Do I forgive & stay with him & hope he doesn't cheat again? Or do I leave him seen were not married & wait for God to bring someone else along I can trust? I REALLY NEED ADVICE? thank you to all.

Hi nadine,

My counsel would be don't just walk...run! My belief is, in the first place, American dating is not even of God. I would say separate immediately, be glad you didn't get even further ahead of yourself and get pregnant or marry the wrong person and learn what a true relationship is when it comes to courtship which is biblical. To understand this subject I would suggest a Christian book to you that I have probably suggested a dozen times here entitled "I Kissed Dating Goodbye" by Josh Harris.  It will greatly open your eyes up to what a true relationship is as far as the preservation of emotional, physical and spiritual integrity/purity. You will be so glad you found out the truth about the godly way to enter into a relationship. Because I said "run" it doesn't necessarily mean that the guy who has lied to you is a bad person. In fact, it could even work out that he is the right person and just has issues to deal with. But in the state he is in now, and in the state you are in to have unknowingly put yourself into a wrong dating relationship, you both need to sort things out and develop some real maturity for the truth about how God designed relationships to work. If he is the right person, you will not lose him. Anyone can date, later get married, but open your eyes now, because if you look around, very, very few couples, Christians included, have honest, godly relationships or marriages. Now is the time to educate yourself on the reality of what a relationship should be instead of the false Hollywood ideas most of us have fallen into.  Count yourself blessed and fortunate that you discovered your guy was not the person you thought he was, before your relationship spiraled into something even worse. Start with this book and I think you will get the idea real fast why you fell into this trap and how to correct things so this never happens to you again. Very few people ever have the opportunity to escape the illegitimate relationship trap, but with the counsel I have shared with you here, you can be one of the fortunate few. God Bless you as you seek your answers!

God forgive those who truly repent and sin no more. Prayer is also a channel to look for advice. Remember God is our heavenly father

Forgive him as Jesus commanded and move on.  If you are hoping he won't cheat again sorry to have to tell you this butt not only is he is a liar and untrustworthy why would you want to stay with a person like that.  Your heart will eventually mend mine did just, get to stepping.  God Bless You.  Mary Doris
