How is your life witnessing for and about the one that saved you?

Great questions, David. For me this is a question that I have to honestly ask myself frequently. It all comes down to this: am I "doing" or "being"? 

 

Jesus said "you ARE the salt of the earth"; that's a "being" statement. Whereas the rich young ruler said "what do I have to do to inherit eternal life"; which is how we tend to think "what must I do to get my ticket?" But, following Jesus is about being a disciple.

 

Now, being a Christian makes everything easier. The doing part just comes along naturally then. 

 

Usually, I find out (later) that someone was inspired or blessed when I'm just being a disciple and living out the life Jesus has given, in the way he has given it. The trap I think we fall into is that we try to add Jesus on to our fleshly plans, instead of being a disciple. When I try to add Jesus to my plans, it usually means that i'm walking in the flesh.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5 . . .

“When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony of God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power."

 

We have the Power so lets use it.
