All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am new here, I've joined in search of answers and help.....

My first question is can I be forgiven...
my life has not been easy, though compared to the horror stories so many are living at this very moment, my life has not been by far too tough...
but any things in this life of mine have helped to lead me astray from the Lord and his path..
I developed a problem a few years ago, becoming dependent of a certain narcotic..
it has since shattered me emotionally, making my life miserable at times, I am often desperate and lost...exhausted and terrified...
I've tried so many times to turn over that new leaf we all speak of...and each time I've flipped this leaf over, I was leaning on the support of God, he helped me through it. The first time I was clean for more than a week, I was completly devoted to God, I wold read from the bible every day, pray every chance I had, attend church whenever possible, confine myself to positive people etc. For months I was like this, fullfilled and happy. But then it happened, I caved to my devilish desires and have been struggling ever since. I turn to God , I get clean for a week, sometimes two, and then I fall from the light into the dark.
My question is, does God grow tired of this? Will the day come where he can't help me anymore, I've hurt him so many times , will he continue to open his arms when I am ready to quit this lifestyle yet again? Or does he only forgive us for the same sin a limited amount of times? Have I been running in circles for so long that God wants me to clean myself on my own and then come to him?
The pain from withdrawling from this drug is horrific, but that time long ago when I turned myself completly over to God, I suffered nothing, not one bit of pain did I feel..nothing. Since then though, everytime I try to quit and open up my bible yet again, I still go through the pain of withdrawl. This is what discourages me, for Ifelt Gods arms around me that first time, and haven't felt them since, I feel he's given up on me. Is this true? What do I do, could someone please tell me how to fight this?
p.s
I hope noone thinks poorly of me because of my addiction, I am not a dirty, scruffled junkie....I am only lost is all. I am still a great, caring person, I love so many, I work, I go to school and I battle my demons also. But I promise I am good person, I have a big heart, I love everyone and I hope to be loved in return because of this, and not discarded because of my problem...
thank you

Amen & Amen to all the wonderful comments!!!

Dear Lord we lift up Thomasina to You, and we thank You Lord for Your great love for her. Thank You Lord for her desire to serve You. Help her Holy Spirit to surrender moment-by-moment to Your dynamic leading. Help her to hear Your voice, listen and obey. Keep her in Your protective care today Lord, and give her discernment to recognize and differentiate between Your voice and the voice of the ememy, so she can stand strong in the victory You won for her on the cross, Jesus. We pray in Your precious Name. Amen!
I also join with everyone else and pray that God will give you daily grace to walk in victory over the power of addiction. The enemy tries to hold us captive in so many ways, but greater is he who is in us than he who is in the world. We can say with Paul; I can do all things through Christ who gives me the strength. It is the Lord himself who is working in us so that his good pleasure will come to pass in our lives. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.
Thank you video king! Another amazing video.

God bless you!
Wow!Video King! thats quite a title.lol
Thomasina,
You can be assured that God will never stop forgiving. As long as someone is a child of God He will continue to forgive those who ask. Often times Jesus spoke in the Bible using examples or parables. In Matthew 18:21-35 Peter asked Jesus about forgiveness. How often should I forgive my brother who sins against me? Up to seven times? Jesus says not seven times but seventy times seven!!! That is 490 times per sin. Now that is a lot.
I would continue to do what works for you. Surround you with whoever you need to keep your mind off of it until you can kick the addiction. Continue to pray that God will take it away from you. But you really have to want to get rid of it.
Forgiveness from God:
“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matthew 6:12).

“Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults” (Psalm 19:12).

“Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they divided up his clothes by casting lots” (Luke 23:34).

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

“All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name" (Acts 10:43).

“To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me” (Acts 26:18).

“In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22).

Forgiving Others
“Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you” (Colossians 3:13).

“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times’” (Matthew 18:21-22 ).

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).

“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you” (Matthew 6:14).

"This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart" (Matthew 18:35).

"NO DOUBT YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN"

God Bless You!!!
Hi Thomasina,

I found this words helpful when I am faced with life challenges.

2 Corinthians 12:9
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

So, do not fear my sister. It is when you feel weak, that you are strong. This verses help me in the way that it reminds me that God is always there, He does not tell us that He will be there only for those who are strong. How loving and humble is our God!

He will never give up on you, sister. Instead, He asks that you rest on Him when you've tried so many times and you've grown weary.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11: 28-31)

Keep trying my sister. I know you are struggling. I am struggling to repent on my sins too. And in your way of recovering remember this too,

"Do not be afraid of what you're about to suffer... Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." Revelation 2:10

I am also new here, sister. I am on my way of building a new start in my relationship with God. I'll keep you in my prayers and please pray for me as well. =)

Love,
Clare
No one here is going to discard you or think badly of you, especially God.The first time you quit you said you gave yourself wholly to God, subsequent times when you tried you felt, lost, lonely and discouraged. The first thing I think you need to do is talk to God, He knows whats in your heart but the reinforcement of talking to Him is a good foundation to start on. God never gives up on any of us, we are his children and there is no greater love than what He has for His children. Talk about what you want to accomplish through all of the pain of quiting again. God doesn't give us pain He only allows pain in our lives to bring us closer to Him. Don't expect all the answers right away. He may wait with an answer to test your strength and conviction, so you must preserver, no matter how tempted you are to lapse. That's when you must reach out and keep asking for His help. Tell Him you are weak and need His strength, tell Him about your fears. Nothing in this life is easy, but your Savior will never leave you, He will never stop loving you. Ask for His forgiveness, express your love, take baby steps and walk in His light, and He will lift you up.
